Cleveland Indians @ Chicago White Sox - 9/26

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 09:23 PM) Swisher, Jenks, are not going anywhere. I'll put a 100% gurantee on that. KW will not give up on a guy that he gave up 3 prospects for after an off season. Never gonna happen. Not to mention his trade value is squat and it would be like selling a $1 for $.10 And we only have 50 cents. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 09:22 PM) Selfish swings by OC so far. Seriously, I mean, is it only in Little League where a coach or teammate says to the guy before he heads to the plate: "Don't overswing here. Nice and easy."? -

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 09:22 PM) We have Griffey on the bench, and our manager is pinch hitting Wise for BA. Jesus f***ing christ. Ozzie and Kenny want Griffey to hit the walkoff. -

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 09:20 PM) Swisher ending the season on a somewhat positive note would be nice, even though I don't think he is going to be here next year, according to some. The clubhouse would sure be a whole lot less Swishy. -

Quick realization: if we'd won both of our 1-run losses the past 2 days, we would've just clinched the division when the Twins lost tonight. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 09:13 PM) What I don't get is Dotel had 2 straight strong performances, and then it's like Ozzie forgot he was in the bullpen. Ah, who knows which Dotel you'll ever get? -

QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 09:13 PM) dotel looks pretty good stuff wise tonight....hes had a lot of rest which i think has probably helped him He and Linebrink pitch best when they get 5 days between appearances. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 09:26 PM) I want to thank everyone for being civil on this site the last two days. It's made it much better than the back-and-forth that usually occurs with loser threads, etc. And the many very funny posts have made this bearable. Truly.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 10:34 PM) I disagree. We're just getting older and s***tier, and there's no way the other teams in the Central are going to fall apart in another fluke fashion next season. If we were going to go down to the very last game of the season to lose it, I'd rather have just done terrible the entire year. That way, we'd get a good draft pick and we'd turn to rebuilding (which we should). This is a good season for this team for 4 reasons -- Danks, Floyd, Quentin and Ramirez. Two excellent starting pitchers and two dynamic position players, all under the age of 27.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 10:18 PM) f*** Carlos Quentin for injuring himself by being a dumbass. Games like tonight might go the other way if we have him. And Jermaine Dye needs to be benched, he's been useless for several weeks now. Problem is, the replacement options aren't good either. "I mean, DJ, don't forget . . . about . . . Swish. He'll come in there, and make some funny jokes and keep . . . these guys . . . loose."

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:47 PM) I laugh at these every time I see them.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:54 PM) Ozzie is a terrible manager, just absolutely terrible. the offense totally bit it again tonight, JD and Thome have been ridiculously bad. The Wise thing was cute and they got some big hits out of him, but he's a 30 year old minor leaguer for a reason. MB showed up tongiht and Linebrink did a good job holding it where it was at. Well Gavin, you've kicked ass all year, can you give 7 innings and nothing more than 1 run? That is excatly how sweeps happen, the Sox flat out handed that game to the Twins. I'm not a huge fan of stolen bases, but to not try with OC with the hack that has become Dye up and Wise in the first is a joke The lineup isn't that good, really. Konerko's reverted to who he was for most of year, a lousy hitter with no idea what he's doing up there. Thome is what he is at this point -- a .245 hitter, who walks a fair amount, strikes out a fair amount, and hits home runs. That's okay for a 5th or 6th hitter on a contender, but not at cleanup. Dye's in a terrible slump and is showing how much he needed Quentin. That's the heart of the order. I'm sorry, but it's really not very good.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:52 PM) If Wise is your leadoff hitter in a game this big, KW's job should be on the line. Kenny's all talk. Leadoff guy. Aggressive players. Whatever. The guy's all talk. Even the player he really wanted to trade for, Miguel Cabrera (though a great hitter), fits Kenny's model of immobile power guys. When it comes to offensive guys, he's completely full of it.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:50 PM) No...it shouldn't. I thought Ozzie should have gone off on this team about 2 weeks ago...and tried to be PC...because they're "veterans". Well f*** our veterans. I honestly don't care if I never see Dye or Konerko in a Sox uni ever again. This team has no passion. And the worse thing...it fooled us into thinking it had chance so we couldn't peddle some of these ancient parts to contenders. I know a lot of people don't like him...but OC is probably the best player in this team right now along with Lexi. The rest are a bunch of asshats. +1 -

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:49 PM) Exactly. The mentality is crap. They are intimidated by an tangible object. Ozzie tried to get them in the right frame of mind and motivate them but the only guys responding are Jr. and Thome, and now Buehrle. Not true. Ozzie's the one who told them they needed a lead of more than 3 before they got here. That's not a winner's mentality. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:48 PM) The whole organization has bowed down to the Twins in the Metrodome. I thought they would win 2, but they will not win tomorrow if they keep praising them. Its time to knock someone on their ass, and act like you're the team in first place. Yep. I'm all for knocking down Span on pitch number 1. Then Gomez gets one up and in when he comes up. Let's go. -

That wasn't pleasant, but it's about 100 times better than watching Javy and his brand of cowardice last night. That was like a game you expect in your opponent's house, in a pennant race. Now go win tomorrow. -

QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 09:21 PM) Keep hackin for that fence guys Well, Walk reminds them to stay on the ball and take those pitches to right. He commands that kind of respect that they listen to him, too. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 07:39 PM) Brian Anderson will start once the others are dead. And I mean literally dead, not Jermaine Dead. I have no doubt that Jermaine will get it going on, say, Saturday, about 3 days too late. -

QUOTE (tommy @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 07:33 PM) Worst you can do there Jermaine. He's old. He's tired. Something's on his mind. He hasn't been the same since Quentin went down. Pick one. Pick 'em all. But Jermaine sucks. -

QUOTE (Nokona @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:15 PM) way to be the only one to step up in this series old man When he hit the ball, they showed our dugout. Our guys got up out of their seats and peered to the stands like they were coming out of a cave. -

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:08 PM) Quiet Joe Cred-E5? Please. Look, he had a bad year with the glove, no question. But two things about Joe: (1) I don't think he's ever been scared; you don't have as many big hits as he had without having -- what's that thing called that we're looking for? -- oh, yeah: balls; and (2) he hit well against Minnesota. Those are 2 things in short supply in the last 24 hours. -
