  1. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 07:14 PM) Wow long swings tonight. JD -- mystified by changeups on the outer half, perplexed by fastball in same spot.
  2. QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 02:09 PM) Swish with a hit. Swish! Now don't be too funny over there.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 01:55 PM) Between Swisher and Ozzie, this is the loosest, most motivated team in history! It's the kind of team that makes me want to run a marathon or something. Damn, I'm fired up just watching their joy and energy.
  4. QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 01:53 PM) His season has to rank as one of the worst in franchise history, right? Right up there with Cory Snyder, except with about double the at-bats and triple the funny.
  5. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 01:52 PM) Haha, oh man. Did you see when he danced in the dugout the other day? Seriously. I mean, talk about loose. Swish makes this team so loose. I mean, they're so loose, they look comatose. That's how good Swish is at this stuff. He's like the new Max Patkin, Clown Prince of Baseball. Thanks, Swish.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 01:52 PM) I can't think of 5 players with the same or similiar amount of at bats worse than Nick Swisher this year. Guys, guys -- you're missing the big picture. Swish is totally funny in the clubhouse. I mean it. The guy tells great jokes and dyes his hair. Super awesome.
  7. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 01:41 PM) He needs to be benched. He has had the entire year to get hot. Our offense makes any crappy pitcher look good. I think, when it's all said and done, we'll look back at Quentin's injury and realize that the real cost of it was having to play Swisher. I mean, it's hard to say that because he's such a totally, super-duper hilaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarious guy and everything . . .
  8. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 06:28 PM) That was the June version of Uribe going after that bad pitch with that weak ass swing. Come on guys. This is Kyle f***ing Davies. See, I think that's half the problem. These guys get it in their heads that a guy isn't tough, and they try to jack it to the moon.
  9. I think Swish sucks, but that was a tough break there. He hit it hard.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 06:03 PM) Just pull Floyd now. Give him some rest. Everything is floating up to the plate. Up in the zone. Bad.
  11. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 06:00 PM) Our offense needs to get their heads out of their asses. Davies sucks, he is pounding the zone with fastballs. They should be crushing them. Didn't Konerko hit a dong off this guy in the last series there? But we go with Griffey/Swisher? Okay.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 05:53 PM) When they showed the view from the 3rd base dugout, Griffey didn't even move until the very end. You wouldn't move either if you were suffering from "general soreness."
  13. Need runs. Gavin hung 3 fat ones that inning -- lucky to get out with only 1 run. Let's go.
  14. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 05:51 PM) I don't think he has the range to be anywhere near that ball... but the ball DID go back towards CF, he should've at least been somewhat close to it. He broke towards it way too late. Wise had a better chance coming from left. Or even Anderson from the dugout. Still, weeks later, it's real dumb having Griffey in center.
  15. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 05:42 PM) I would agree with power pitchers. But curveball pitchers are much better with a little arm fatigue. When they get geeked up, its a bit worse. Thats when they over extend. But when their arm is a little tired, the ball drops a bit more. The only key is keeping ontop of the curve. If they drop down and get more side to side action, then he is going to have problems. But he is over the top looking good. I never thought that with curveballers. Sinkerballers? Yes. But the curveball has to have bite and command. I don't think he looks terrible, by the way -- I'm just not sure I agree with you comparison.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 08:49 PM) He looked like he was actually loose out there, which is huge. Loose physically? I didn't see it, so I'm curious what he was doing out there.
  17. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 09:41 PM) Well considering the offense has taken the month off. They should be rested. Maybe they can hit the ball a bit. The Royals have hit the ball well this month. We maybe need to actually score runs to win games. That's crazy talk, my friend -- there's something at stake, and they're on the road. That's a killer combination for most of these guys.
  18. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 08:51 PM) Everyone acts like we've already lost all three at Minnesota. The reason everyone feels permission to feel this way is because our manager publicly says HE feels that way. I hate it. I just f***ing hate it. Shut up and play the games.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 09:19 PM) I don't care what the order is, as long as it's on normal rest. Is there really that much of a difference between Danks and Buehrle that we have to pitch 3 straight pitchers on 3 days rest? Totally agree with this and have been saying it for 3 days. It's totally stupid to pitch these guys on 3 days rest, even if they come back the next week on 4. It's often not the start on 3 days rest that kills guys; it's the one right after, which would be during the Twins series. And for what? To give Danks a rest? Hell, he pitched the best game all week.
  20. Again, we can pitch Danks tomorrow and get everyone back on 4 days rest, or we can skip him until Sunday (which was the last plan I saw) and make Buehrle and Floyd go on 3 days. Please, for the love of God, don't do that until you have to.
  21. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 09:26 PM) he gave up an unearned run...but yeah thats cool...good for freddy...i always liked him...guy had some enormous stones Freddy's the best. Didn't always bring the A-game (sometimes left it out the night before, I think) -- but when the chips were down, there wasn't anyone better.
  22. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 09:24 PM) tom mastny warming in the bullpen ...the twins are trembling Watch it -- that's the same Tom Mastny who might just come in and shut the door on our guys next weekend.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 07:19 PM) Couldn't agree more with you. You can see it in his face. Linebrink being seriously injured has been obvious for about 6 weeks now. The Sox treated it like the Soviets treated whether Andropov or Chernenko were dead -- nah, nothing wrong here, but we just won't talk about it, and you won't see the guy for weeks, and everything's fine.
