Thome needs to sit for about a week and Contreras needs to go on the DL because we'll need both of them healthy if we want to repeat.

PFB JUST GOT OWNED BY A DOCTOR ON THE POSTGAME SHOW. Caller: Contreras has an injured back and he's dropping down because it's less painful on his lower back. PFB: I imagine dropping down causes more pain on his back than throwing over-the-top. Caller: NOPE. NOPE. PFB: What? What are you, a doctor? Caller: Yes, actually I am. Throwing over-the-top causes more torque on the lower back than dropping down. EDIT: I think the caller's name was Ron.

This is the game here. We need a big 2-out hit or it's very unlikely the Sox will win. -

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) Yes FArmer mention that a slam gets us within 2? hahah, probably. It's rubbed off on Singleton who said something like,"a walk, a hit and a couple blasts and this lead will evaporate real quick." -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) If the Sox fall short this season, we will hear about numerous pitchers pitching around injuries. That's a given. What won't be explained is why the Sox didn't use McCarthy if these guys were hurt. Agree on both points. I'll add that even if the starters were 100% healthy, some deserved to lose their spot to McCarthy based on performance alone. -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) Sweeney should be in left for prancer. And AJ needs to be benched for the rest of the game. Put Stewart in. Start pulling our guys who are half assing it. That nickname is awesome. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 08:45 PM) I just want to say one thing for all of you saying Jose is still hurt. If he is hurt and the Sox are not putting him on the DL they are obviously one of the most ignorant, dumbass organizations in all of baseball. Why would we be sitting out there throwing out a piece of s*** pitcher (which is almost what Jose is right now) if we knew his struggles were do to an injury. Wouldn't we have thrown him on the DL weeks ago and given McCarthy a chance knowing that we could in time get Jose healthy and have him ready for the stretch run. I'm sorry, this injury claim really makes no sense cause I can't think (and I think Ozzie's a f***ing idiot) that Kenny would be dumb enough to do something like that. It's not that farfetched to think Contreras is pitching with pain. Recall what happened with Politte this year. Ozzie knew he was pitching through pain that wasn't there last year and KEPT USING HIM. I think it's in Ozzie's personality to tell Contreras to man up and pitch because the team needs him and it's the stretch run. Ozzie would rather have Contreras's ineffective pitching than to give McCarthy a starting spot. -

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 08:22 PM) well boys, it was fun. You can carry the dead weight of a Javy Vasquez but add to that a brain dead cuban who's supposed to be your ace and it's too much. The pitching wasn't up to the task this year. And no one's to blame but them. I wouldn't call Jose Contreras "brain dead." I think his poor 2006 performance is due to physical problems, not intellectual. -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) Only an Ozzie lead team, is the pitcher in after getting raped. Yep. It's a good idea to pull a pitcher who's pitching horribly 1) to prevent him from putting your team in a deeper deficit, and 2) he gets a small break and could be fresher in his next start, giving your team a better chance at winning that game too. -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 08:16 PM) 95 to 97 on the Count before the DL, he used to throw predominantly overhand, but would drop down from time to time. Now he is 91, and he is sidearm to every righty. How the f*** does this happen without an explanation. I'm guessing he's not healthy. I'm ready to DL him and put McCarthy in his starting spot. This team needs a healthy Contreras and Thome to win another title. -

Lisa Dergan is the antithesis of a slump buster, so he needs to drop her and find himself an ugly heffer. Kansas City is ripe full of 'em, so a slump-busting three-way is a possibility. Rule of thumb: She must weigh more in pounds than your OBP.

QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 07:01 PM) Well then, I have to say it's mighty big of the Sox employees - office and players - who are able to look past that 2 year old mentality. Well that's a separate issue. I was simply debunking your immensely erroneous, inaccurate, feebleminded, poor analogy.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 07:05 PM) Yea... Probably spelled it out for the reporter though. I didn't take issue with the spelling of a word but Ozzie's improper use of a word, so I don't understand the point you're making.

QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 06:44 PM) So Ozzie wrote out this quote.... I'm assuming Ozzie was interviewed and he gave that quote verbally.

QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 06:40 PM) He was there before they met the capasity? I have no idea. But if someone is going to start making an effort to not shop at or eat at establishments that are run by Cub fans, they're gonna be staying home a lot in this town. Do people really ask before they use a service and walk away from that service if the person providing it states they are a Cub fan? Or a Gb fan if you are a Bears fan? Or a Redwings fan if you are a Hawks fan...?? The difference between any other Cub fan-owned establishment and Jimbos is that Jimbos is a Bridgeport bar operating under false allegiance by targeting the White Sox organization and fans.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 06:28 PM) Guillen is never going to have good english grammar. Agreed, and I'm usually lenient to non-native English speakers when it comes to grammar and accent. It's just a common mistake that many native English speakers believe is proper usage, and I took the opportunity to teach someone.

Both in the 2nd. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 06:31 PM) The PFB is about to come on with the Sox pregame show in just a minute so we should have the lineups shortly.
