  1. Does Reifert's blog list the day's lineup before every game?
  2. QUOTE(PlunketChris @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 12:11 PM) From the most recent "White Sox Notes" on whitesox.com I sure as hell got a kick out of it. Final word: "Freddy can't hit anybody with his 84 mile-per-hour fastball. If he hits somebody, they're going to get on base, steal second and third and everything." -- Guillen, on Garcia Funny quote, but bad grammar. Using "they" or "them" to refer to a single person is incorrect usage. Ozzie should have said "he" instead of "they're". Something else that upsets me about grammar is my ignorance of where to put the period when quoting the final word in a sentence. Can someone explain the rules to me?
  3. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 05:34 PM) To some (like Hangar,) yes. I added "just sayin'" for a reason. So why exactly was Woo-Woo let into the bar over real Sox fans during the World Series? Just askin' Santo, you're a highly intelligent, aggressive poster. I like your style. I like how you respectfully engage in a discussion with any poster.
  4. What position has Sweeney been playing in Charlotte? What's his natural position?
  5. Meh, that place was too small and dumpy. I'm not going to act upset about losing the history of some 22-year-old dumpy bar being lost. And I'm definately not going to lift a finger trying to help out a rich owner get richer.
  6. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 12:29 AM) The Elias Sports Bureau determines if they are a type A or type B or type SUX fa, which fixes compensation. The top x% of all players at a position are type A, the next y% are type B, etc. I don't remember what x and y are, but Pods would certainly have to be a top 50% lf (or of, maybe -- ?) to get any sort of compensation. Which would make everyone wonder if Elias Sports Bureau = Laugh Factory if it happened. Thanks for enlightening me on the process. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 12:38 AM) Scott Podsednik is not a free agent after this season, he still has i believe 2 years of Arbitration remaining. Meaning he is under Sox control so they can do 1 of 4 things this offseason: 1.) Trade his ass 2.) Sign him to a new deal avoiding arbitration 3.) Go to arbitration with the bastage 4.) Non-tender him, he becomes a free agent, the Sox get diddly. Burn, I didn't know he was still arbitration eligibile. I like querty's idea to sign him for one year with the intentions of trading him. Who knows, perhaps Pods's groin will heal fully over the offseason and return to 2005 first-half form. In that case, I'd keep him.
  7. I'm ignorant to the process of how a FA is rated for draft picks, so could the reason Pods has been playing every day be to ensure the Sox receive an A draft pick and not a B when Pods signs elsewhere in the offseason?
  8. I'm thankful he's a man of his word and signed with the Sox after being offered more money by Arizona. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he won the NL MVP too.
  9. Hugs and kisses to my boys Tadahito Iguchi and Jermaine Dye. Some nice box in the box seats tonight. BENCH PODS; START MACKOWIAK IN LF
  10. ABOUT FISHING TIME! Tadahito Iguchi with the 2-out, game-tying home run to center in the 8th inning.
  11. QUOTE(G&T @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 09:02 PM) How many can they strand tonight? It's 2 every inning. WHERE'S THE 2-OUT HITS?
  12. This was a butterface victory. The body of the game was good because the Sox won, but the face...not so much.
  13. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) I'll say this much: If we do make the playoffs, I want Freddy in the 'pen. I'll take my chances on Javy solving his 6th inning debacles over Sweaty Freddy Moyer and his 15 stolen bases allowed a game. What if one of the playoff games is a day game on the road?
  14. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 10:32 PM) Oh, you did ask a question. I have no idea if/when he's coming back. Very well, I think your assesment is accurate.
  15. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 10:30 PM) It doesn't really matter at this point. One, he'll be pitching out of the bullpen if he comes back. Two, it's doubtful he'll be the same pitcher if/when they move him into the rotation. It's a real risky move bringing him back at all, IMO. There's a real chance you can do some long-term damage. Is Liriano returning? If yes, when?
  16. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 10:29 PM) Thornton, Jenks, and the sox hitters... yes! P.S. The Delmon Young era begins. What a stud. Yeah, he can really throw the bat around.
  17. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 10:26 PM) I'm pretty sure if I was a twins fan I'd be going ballistic right now I've said it once and I'll say it again: Twins. Are. Done. Is Liriano returning? If yes, when?
  18. With the win and Minnesota loss, the World Champs regain the WC lead. Also pick up a .5 game on Detroit because their game with the Yankees was postponed.
  19. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 09:04 AM) Chris Widger deserved all of the blame for his hitting, his throwing, and his lack of defense. He deserved his share of blame for our starters struggling and base runners steal at will on him. I certainly don't recall anyone saying Widger was responsible for all of the team's lack of success. Your signature is hilarious.
  20. QUOTE(Wealz @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 11:21 PM) Again, if Riske can't be trusted to get an out in the 6th inning, he should not be on the roster. Your problem is with Kenny Williams. Agreed, but when KW has given Ozzie 4 better relief pitchers to use, and he calls for Cotts and Riske, your problem is with Ozzie Guillen.
  21. QUOTE(Wealz @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) Why are Riske and Cotts on the roster then? Riske has been solid, btw, and you're acting like he's Cliff Pollitte. All relief pitchers are not equal. Since Cotts and Riske are worse than McCarthy, MacDougal, Thornton and Jenks, the smarter (and obvious) move would have been to use them to finish such an important and winnable ballgame. Win or lose, Ozzie needed to go with his best.
  22. QUOTE(cgaudin @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) I'm sorry to tell you this, but you have not a flipping clue what you're saying. You sound like the typical monday morning quarterback. If the pitching ERA was a half point lower we would have 85 games in the win column by now. It's that simple. When the starters AND the pen are blowing leads on a leisurely basis, it will look as if every......any move Ozzie makes is a bad move. Ozzie is not a great manager, by any stretch of the imagination, but neither is he a bum. Ozzie has the trust and respect of his players, and that is huge. I do think that someone other than Ozzie needs to pick out his coaching staff, cause I believe it is the worst of all the playoff contending teams. And the team's ERA is higher because OZZIE decided not to let McCarthy start.
  23. QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 01:19 AM) Please ban this racist. He didn't post anything racist.
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 08:10 PM) I'd say you should be careful about personal attacks. It wasn't a personal attack but a hope that Ozzie would enter politics so he wouldn't manage the Sox any more.
