  1. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 03:23 PM) Fantastic assessment. I would agree with everything you wrote. Are we going to get Good Jon or Bad Jon? That will be the big factor. SC's secondary is very tough and you have some damn good pass rushers, so I think we'll have to run on you guys to do well. Still, Crompton has to take what the D gives him and not force stuff (like the last 2 games), or else we'll be out of this one. And yeah, that upper deck (I'm assuming the south corner endzone) in the worst spot in the stadium, which I guess is why we stick the opposing fans up there. 4 Turnovers leading to 4 short fields and 24 points. We're just not good enough to overcome that. Grats on the win, I hate to think 'what if' concerning maybe if we knew how to hold on to the football.
  2. Time for Daryll Clark and the Penn. St offense to wake up from their sleepwalk.
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 31, 2009 -> 05:06 PM) Tebow is shutting me up, he's looking really good today. Best he's played all season, imo. This putrid Georgia defense has a way of making even marginal QBs look good, it will make Tebow look like a demi-god.
  4. QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 30, 2009 -> 10:10 PM) The bold is basically what the ACC is. SEC fans think its just shows how deep their conference is but they think its a mess when it pertains to other conferences. OK. Remind me again which ACC teams are like the SECs 2 Top teams? Hell, look at Virginia Tech, losing to a mediocre UNC team AT HOME. Look at Miami, losing at home to what was an offensively inept Clemson team, and right now losing to Weak Florist.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 30, 2009 -> 01:45 PM) Hell to be honest, Arkansas is a lot like Notre Dame. I don't think Mallet is quite as good as Claussen though and they don't have quite as good of WR's as Notre Dame has. Defensively they are both awful though. Bottom line, Arkansas is a worse version of ND and while I love ND there is no way I'd be arguing about how great they were. ND has all the talent in the world offensively and could stun someone in any one game, but in no way shape or form are they that great of a "team" (and I'm a ND fan). They'll make a bowl and be rated but Weiss needs to get canned. Ole Miss - They aren't very good. People argue that its such a deep conference cause Ole Miss was a pre-season top 10 team, but you know what, Ole Miss flat out sucks. The experts got it wrong. Florida and Alabama have had poor offensive play. Both have legit defenses and some special players on offense. Bama has the stud running game, Florida has Tebow willing them to victory but neither team can pass there way down the field. Hell, Stanzi is a better passing QB than Bama or Florida's and he's the weak link of the hawkeyes (who in no way am I necessarily insinuating are a better team than Florida/Bama, although I'd widely argue the notion that them or OSU would get blown out). Iowa and OSU have gotten better (OSU much better following that Purdue debacle) where as I don't think Florida or Bama have gotten better. Hell, I think LSU is the team that is improving and is probably the best in that conference. I'm not sure I'd call LSU the best team in the SEC right now. They look great against teams without a better than average Defense, otherwise they are pretty putrid on offense. Jefferson doesn't seem to me that he is ready to be the QB leading that team, but it will sure help him come 2010 and beyond. I think the SEC is pretty much 2 Top teams that probably could beat each other 50% of the time, 7 teams (Mississippi, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas, LSU, Kentucky) that could matchup and play some great games against each other, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and Auburn that can pull the upset sometimes. The ACC, on the other hand....what a mess.
  6. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Oct 30, 2009 -> 02:31 PM) I believe that goes to Calipari. But yes, I will admit Pearl is a bit of a sleaze. Seconded on Calipari. I just don't understand the fascination everyone has with ranking Kentucky so high. So...you lose Jodie Meeks, gain a sleezeball jagbag of a coach, get a heralded, but completely untested group of true freshman coming in, and all of a sudden they are going to rule over not only a deep SEC East, but Top 5-10 in the country? Please.
  7. I must say, Bama didn't impress me much at all. Yeah yeah, they beat us, blah blah blah, but you get one gift TD on a pick 6, and only manage one other TD late in the 4th quarter? McElroy isn't going to take that team to a National Championship.
  8. I'm a huge, HUGE Grohl fan, and follow about everything he puts out. For some reason, I can't seem to get excited about Them Crooked Vultures. Maybe its Homme on vocals moreso than Grohl that kills it for me, though I will say its nice to see Dave back behind the drums and banging away.
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 01:58 PM) Haven't people been saying that for 3-4 years now? Not sure where that train of thought came from. We (South Carolina fans) have known for years now, we've not had a QB that can perform up to Spurrier's expectations at the QB position. It seems he has finally found his guy, and Garcia is getting better, and maturing as each week goes by.
  10. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 02:14 PM) We're going to have a good game this week. Halloween night in Neyland Stadium. Should be a lot of fun. The last time y'all came to Tennessee was one of my Top 3 games I've been to. The comeback OT win, even though you guys outperformed us statistically. The stadium was louder than I've ever heard after Succop missed that FG. Your defense is pretty damn good and I think Garcia is finally showing why he was so hyped out of high school. Of course, I think we'll win if we play like we did against Bama last week, but you never know in the SEC and the letdown from losing last week's game could really weigh on our guys. I mean, we had a chance to upset our biggest/oldest rival and #1 in the AP, and we miss 3 FGs to lose by 2 points. That has to be depressing for a team that played better on both sides of the ball than Bama. You making it to Knoxville by any chance? I went to Knoxville back in 2003 for our game, sat up in the Upper Deck and froze my ass off. That wind off of the river will cut you in half! I won't be able to get there now though, marriage curtailed such frivolous spending! I'm looking forward to the game, I really feel like either team could win it. If we face the Crompton that was the QB before the Georgia game, then I think lots of Tennessee fans will leave Neyland awful agitated. If he plays like he has the last 2 games, we're in for a dogfight. I don't like how our inability to score inside the red zone is going to be further complicated by facing the Tennessee secondary. I think both of our games against Alabama could have went either way. People seem to forget that Bama only found the endzone once offensively against us, and we left 10 points on the field that night. I don't see to this day, how Bama keeps finding a way to win in the end. I'd expect something like 17-14 or 16-13 either way this Saturday night, I don't see us scoring a lot on that Vol D, and I don't see Crompton getting much going against our secondary either.
  11. Keep in mind, Iowa beat a South Carolina team that was beaten and all but quit with 2 games left in the season. As soon as we got romped by Florida last year, there were a multitude of underclassmen on our team that quit their college careers for all intents and purposes, and were focused on what they needed to do to get paid in the NFL. Sad, but the truth. Look at the results in the games post Arkansas game last year. Its not even a shadow of the team that ran through the first 9 games of the season. Make no mistake, Iowa dominated us and our freshman QB. They were the better team, and should have been. We pretty much bought our way into the Outback bowl due to our past performances there and fan following that they knew would come to Tampa. I find it funny that we're always left out of the conversation when the SEC talk starts. Don't count those wins over South Carolina before they actually happen. Sadly, this team plays to the level of competition week in and week out. Thats why there are never any blowout wins, but no one that dominates this defense either. Oh yeah, 1 senior on the starting offense this year, and 5 total seniors on the 2 deep total. Keep thinking we're the 'easy win'.
  12. Our conference refs are an absolute joke. Need more evidence? Don't forget this wonderful 'neutral officiating' bit.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 10:23 PM) Ole Miss is the worst #4 team in the history of college football. Overrated? Very much. But lets give credit where it is due. Eric Norwood is a beast of a defensive player in the SEC.
  14. Dye having the best 2nd half of a season. EVER.
  15. Rios with another banner game himself: 0 for 5, 2 K's and 5 LOB.
  16. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 09:11 PM) He needs location and is not getting it. The value that they could have gotten for him is pretty decreased now so there is no reason to trade him. I just turned the mgame on after the homer. This game resides squarly on the offensive bargae that has been shut out the 4 innings...... I will say it yet again, they have scored more than 4 runs once this entire trip. I blame the bullpen trouble on the fact that every inning of every game is stressful. I blame the bullpen trouble on the fact that they are absolute s*** outside of Thornton and sometimes Dotel...
  17. Goddamn motherf***er Bobby Jenks. Please go somewhere else after 2009
  18. Michigan looking leaps and bounds better here in the 2nd half. ND on the ropes big time.
  19. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 04:29 PM) Michigan had a kickoff return TD but Notre Dame is now in the red zone. 14-3 for now. This looks to be a high scoring game. ND really looking like the better team. Now 17-14 ND and moving the ball up and down the field with ease.
  20. And UNC gets lucky in Connecticut, 12-10. The Americas Cupcake Conference may be the worst "major" football conference this year that we've seen in a LONG LONG time.
  21. Berry is damn good, but I don't see it happening.
