  1. Mark Buehrle has balls of stone. Its just that Alexei Ramirez has hands of stone.
  2. QUOTE (joeynach @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 12:01 AM) Fire burning...fire burning. If the sox lose this game blame ozzie for not being proactive in recognizing that the 2rd time through they are getting to him. Seriously? How about blaming this s***can offense that had opportunity after opportunity to get one or more runs in?
  3. Hot offensive inning there. Sorry MB, we're not worthy of scoring a single motherf***in run against Seattle for you.
  4. We need to see someone, ANYONE other than Felix out there in the 8th. I mean, the hits were gotten on him, and LOTS of opportunities to score but alas we pooped our pants when it was needed most.
  5. GD it Pods...ANYTHING to 2/3rds of the outfield woulda worked.
  6. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 01:48 PM) Are there better options for us? If we shift CQ to RF, someone has to be in LF, and no one we have is ready. Pods at least gives us a semi-speedy option to pair with Rios and Beckham on the basepads. AND gives us a leadoff hitter, something we still do not have even with Rios.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 01:41 PM) Just say no to Pods. With Rios in CF and Quentin in LF, there's no room for Pods. He's going to get 3-5 million this offseason, and with his mediocre defense and bad base running, he's just not worth that. Are there better options for us? If we shift CQ to RF, someone has to be in LF, and no one we have is ready. Pods at least gives us a semi-speedy option to pair with Rios and Beckham on the basepads.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 09:28 AM) I just heard the Killers cover of Hotel California for their new album. I was not impressed at all Bad. BAD song covered by a declining in quality sound band. I'm not surprised. I liked Hot Fuss so much, but not so much after that.
  9. Never. A good marriage makes it unnecessary
  10. 23 days until my boys start this college football season!! I can't wait.
  11. QUOTE (striker62704 @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 01:05 PM) I'd rather see Abreu DH and Winn in RF next year. I think we need a DH that can field, at least part time. I know Abreu isn't that great of a fielder but he can field and Thome can't. Which means Abreu could play against NL teams. Abreu would bring a higher average, more speed and defense that Thome can't provide. Winn would be an upgrade over Dye with speed and defense. Their hitting, obp are the same. I just think we need to get away from old sluggers, and that's what Thome and Dye are, IMO. Someone is going to fork over some real cash for Abreu this offseason. Luckily, and hopefully, it won't be us.
  12. The bigger problem is, in 2010, if we do as most would assume we did, and let Wise go away forever, Kotsay most likely gone and who knows with Pods....we have a serious, SERIOUS lack of options with respect to mixing up the batting order, much less late inning Lefty PHers. The more and more I think about it, the more and more it seems like Thome may have t obe back as DH. There really is a shrinking role for Dye on this team as each move is made.
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 11:02 AM) You hope so. Dye makes absolutely no sense going forward. He will be gone from this organization. If Thome looks for a 3 year deal, I imagine I will literally s*** roses, full bloom, and I'll sell them for $150 dollars a piece. Because if a rose comes out an ass full bloom, you have to imagine it's worth atleast $150, right? Other than standing on the other side of the plate, what exactly does Jim Thome bring to this current ChiSox team that Dye doesn't bring as well, and at a younger age? The OBP can be argued for sure, but other than that, I don't see a real advantage for Thome over Dye at DH.
  14. We hope so JD, but most likely as a DH...
  15. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 07:24 PM) Can we all agree? Pods is not a good fielder, but -- over the course of his career -- has been a pretty darn good leadoff man. The usual question is health. With Rios in CF and CQ over in RF, we can deal with Pods in LF defensively in exchange for what he brings to the #1/#2 slot in the batting order.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 07:19 PM) That's kinda my point. You come off as it bothers you when he does well. Thus saying "it's hard to argue." As if you want to argue but you simply can't. It doesn't bother me in ANY way when anyone on this team does well. Hell thats kinda what I want daily. But I still think his 'value' to the 2005 team was a bit overexaggerated. I'm plenty happy as to the performance this year, and if we can bring him back at a decent deal for next year, I'm all for it.
  17. QUOTE (3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 07:15 PM) This gives the Sox options. Either Dye to DH or keep Thome next year. If Podsednik completely loses it (or either of those guys) in this last stretch run then we'll see what they're made of. We don't even know if a guy like Dye would be stubborn to be a DH even though we all wrote him in as one. Who knows, all I know is the Sox now have options Yeah I shoulda included that in my original post too. I am hoping and assuming we bring Dye back in a DH role.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 07:14 PM) I've always wanted to ask you this. You seem to have a genuine dislike for Pods that goes beyond his on-field performance. Why is that? No, was just based on overhyped abilities that people thought he posessed. I've been fairly tame concerning it this year, its been mostly hard to argue against what he has done this year.
  19. Resign Pods (yes that hurts me to say) to play LF, Rios in CF, CQ in Right next year whilst not rushing Danks2 up. I like it.
  20. Maybe resign Pods to play LF next year, Rios in CF, CQ in Right? I'd like that, quite a bit.
  21. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 03:26 PM) Contreras is a free agent. How the hell did I miss that. Oh joyous occasion!
