QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 08:51 PM) BTW, Anderson is now 1 for 15 with the bases loaded in his career. I can't wait for the Anderson era to end with the White Sox. Or just keep him in the role he is best suited for: 1.5 innings at the end of every game for defense, thats it. Its pretty clear that he just won't make adjustments to that long looping swing he has...

Sox sign Podsednik to MLC
QUOTE (MO2005 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 06:51 PM) Good pickup in my eyes. I just don't think Brian Anderson is meant to be a starter on this team. I mean in all seriousness Wise vs. Podsednik? They are pretty much the same offensively... Maybe so in some folks eyes. But this isn't about what each of them can do OFFENSIVELY. There are plenty of guys on this team that can rake offensively. The problem is, defensively, up the middle is still a pretty big question mark. Facts are facts: I'll take a .240 hitting BA in CF than a .270 maybe hitting Pods in CF with his spaghetti arm and clueless deer approach in the field.

Sox sign Podsednik to MLC
I beg to the gods of baseball that BA is able to find that long lost batting ability, and run away with the job, solving our issues...Well, all of the issues except the lack of a leadoff hitter at least...
-
Will White Sox fans also boo BA if he goes 0/8?
I'm way too lazy to read all of the thread, but fact remains that even the most layman Sox fan knows that, at this point in his career, Wise's 'potential' is pretty low compared to almost any other option in our system. And yet, thats the solution we came to think was best for our CF job and leadoff hitter. They have a right to boo what the organization decided was our 'best option' for success in CF and leadoff.

QUOTE (Chet Lemon @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 01:53 PM) What does Pods bring? Comic relief in the outfield, and ulcers for most ChiSox fans.

Sox sign Podsednik to MLC
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 01:41 PM) Can't say I agree with that. Ever. While you may have a point defensively, to say offensively is insane. And defensively is even stretching it while I know Pods isn't a good CF, neither is Wise. The catch Wise made where he hurt himself would have been caught by a standing Anderson. Wise over Pods?! NO. Never. Ever. Never ever! MY GOOD GOD MAN, NEVER. You HAVE seen Pods in the field right? If not, watch my avatar a few thousand times. Pods > Wise? arguable for CF reasons. Pods > BA? Not a shot on God's green earth. And I can almost guaran-damn-tee you that Ozzie will use Pods in CF over BA most of the time now.

I'm sorry, Scott Fking Podsednik is NOT an improvement over what we have in CF. It isn't ALL about what someone does at the plate. Open up your GD eyes folks...

I don't think anyone, even on SoxTalk, wants BA leading off. What we WOULD like is BA in CF batting 9th, and Getz leading off.

DeWayne Wise, wow what a choice for leadoff hitter

South Regional
Haha...picking Clemson at all is a pretty deadly mistake. Michigan wins that game and sends the Clemmers home early yet again.

ACC Tournament
Clemson is an absolute joke, as always every year they go undefeated against Pork and Bean State, Sisters of the Poor University, etc. Then the real season starts, the ACC, and they show their true nature: an average team in a conference that they can't succeed in. Congrats on your 1 and done Clemmers, and prepare for the same next week.

Official 2008-2009 College Basketball Thread
Co-SEC East Champions with Tennessee Not bad for a team that won 5 conference games last year. Darrin Horn has done in less than a year, what Dave Odom couldn't do: adapt a sound strategy and play style that fits the players he had, not try to force it the other way around. I consider 21-8, 10-6 in conference a pretty damn good 'first' year for Coach Horn.
