I don't get it. How does FOX affect the Sox game being on TV?
-
Records: Detroit: 34-14 (1st in the Central, 2.5 games up on the Sox) Cleveland: 23-24 (3rd in the Central, 10.5 games behind the Tigers) Starting pitchers: Detroit: Justin Verlander (6-3) (2.70 ERA) Cleveland: Paul Byrd (4-3) (5.92 ERA) Overview: The Tigers are coming off an 8-3 win in the opener on Friday night, and are looking for their 8th win in a row. Meanwhile the Indians are looking to get back to .500 with a win. Justin Verlander will be trying to extend his 17 consecutive scoreless innings streak when he takes the hill for the Tigers tonight. Lineups to come later.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 27, 2006 -> 12:12 PM) Come back when they play a .500 team or greater, and beat them up. Then we'll talk. You know one of the local sports stations here in Detroit was talking about this, and they mentioned something that really makes sense when you think about it. They said that maybe the reason some of these teams are under .500 or close to it right now is in part because of the Tigers beating them as often as they have. We're 21-7 against Central teams right now so that notion probably isn't too far off from the truth.

QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ May 26, 2006 -> 08:34 PM) Noticed Comerica looked pretty packed tonight when I was flipping between your game and the Sox game. Must be pretty exciting up there right now. Indeed it is. We had 43,000 last Saturday when we played the Reds, and then 30,000 Sunday. So yeah there's a big buzz here to be sure. Good to see after all these years.

Back for the moment. 8-3 going into the 9th. Run came after Maggs led off the 7th with a double, went to 3rd on a flyout by Monroe, and then scored when the throw into the infield was off target. Jamie Walker in now Numbers: 0-0 ERA of 0.84 1-2-3 9th for Walker. Tigers win 8-3. 7th win in a row, 14th in their last 15th.

Inning ends with Granderson left on 3rd. Perez homers to start the 7th. 7-3. Robertson leaving, Jason Grilli in. Numbers: 0-0 ERA of 4.50. Won't be updating for a few, my aunt is gonna use the PC.
-
Thames walks on a 3-2 pitch. Bases full for Inge. Sac fly for Inge. 4-2. Monroe moves to 3rd. Santiago walks to reload the bags. Granderson coming up. Before he does though, Westbrook is gonna come out. Jason Davis coming in to face Granderson. His numbers: 2-1 ERA of 3.32 Triple for Granderson. 7-2.

lol fun stuff lol. Leadoff walk to Shelton, followed by a Monroe base hit up the middle. Thames up next.
-
Who's Rock? 1st and 2nd, 1 out for the Indians in the 6th. So much for the shutout. Peralta doubles down the right field line, and Maggs bobbles it. Both runners score and Peralta ends up at 3rd. 3-2 game now. Robertson holds him. 3-2, bottom 6.

Not neccessarily just working out that way. I'll probably post some other stuff at some point. -

With the 7 or so he pitched against the Reds, he's up to about 12 scoreless innings in a row. -

Last couple of starts he's sure looked that way at times. It sure helps though when he has a defense behind him that can make the big plays in key situations. -
Apparently so. There has to be a timeframe around it, because I made two posts in a row earlier, with the 2nd coming a good hour so I'd say after the 1st one, and they were separate. 2 out walk to Shelton by Westbrook. Nothing comes of it, as Monroe grounds out to end the 3rd.
-
Ah I see. Granderson singles, Shelton and Monroe both score. 3-0 with 2 outs. Polanco strikes out to end the inning.
-
Robertson gets out of the inning with no damage. Still scoreless heading to the bottom of 2nd. Back to back singles to start us off in the 2nd. Thames stepping in. Thames doubles in Shelton, Monroe to 3rd. 1-0 Tigers. BTW, why are all my posts showing up in the same one? That's 3 now.
-
Indians with a little threat brewing in the 2nd. 1st and 2nd, 1 out, and Blake hitting. Make that 2 out, Blake popped out in foul ground.
-
Sizemore leads off and hits a double to the wall, tries to go to 3rd, and gets thrown out.

This is the start of something I will do as often as I can during this season since I'm sure you all have an interest in how the Tigers do, just as I have an interest in what the Sox do. Records coming into play: Cleveland: 23-23 (3rd in the Central, 9.5 games back of 1st) Detroit: 33-14 (1st in the Central, 1.5 game lead on the Sox) Pitching matchup: Cleveland: Jake Westbrook (4-2) (4.98 ERA) Detroit: Nate Robertson (4-2) (3.02 ERA) Tigers are coming off a 4 game sweep of the Royals in KC, and are riding a 6 game winning streak. Cleveland meanwhile is beginning to show some signs of life, coming off a 11-0 thrashing of the Twins in Minnesota, getting them back to the 500 mark. They are also looking to avenge a 3 game sweep at home at the hands of Tigers 2 weekends ago. Lineups to come.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 25, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) I haven't checked the numbers but I think the Tigers are, what, 26-5 in their last 30+ games? 26-8 in the last 34, and 13-1 in their last 14.
-
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 25, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) LOL, what happened? 13-8? 3 run 8th, Pudge tying it with a 2 run triple, and a 5 run 9th. 3 homers in the inning, Pudge with the big hit, a 3 run bomb to put it away.
