  1. Frank's replacement has done OK.
  2. QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 09:27 AM) Hawk: "and that's trouble" "and that's trouble" "and that's trouble" :banghead :banghead It would almost make you yearn for the days Carl Everett was patrolling CF.
  3. The fact that Pablo is working out in CF tells you all you need to know about the major league readiness of White Sox minor leaguers who could legitimately play CF. Defense is key in CF. Mackowiak has cost the Sox at least 3 runs in the last 3 games he's played CF. Anderson's lack of hitting hasn't cost the White Sox so far. Eventually, it probably will, but eventually he also probably will hit. Fix the bullpen and this team will be fine.
  4. Thome, Dye, and Konerko, even Crede and AJ can't be expected to keep up their current pace. Runs, especially if Anderson and/or Uribe don't pick it up, aren't going to be coming at the same pace. Pitching needs to improve. The bullpen needs to be fixed, and it probably will take a small miracle for KW to pull it off.
  5. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) we are only .500 on the road...which hopefulyl picks up...i know everyone says you go .500 on the road and good things will happen, but with this team we should be winning more games than losing anywhere we play The pitching on the road thus far has been pitiful.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:09 PM) How about Putz? Teams with no chance still don't generally trade young, cheap, effective pitching.
  7. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) He made an offer to Mike Myers but Myers said he wanted to pitch in New York because of the "mystique" or whatever. Who else was there? Billy Wagner, Roberto Hernandez? Another thing: Signing bullpen help is one of the most risky moves a GM can make because relievers are so inconsistent. Mike Myers went to the Yankees because they gave him more money. My sister and her best friend know him very well, they went to grammar school and junior high with him.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) He might be one of the most realistic possibilities. I think Roberto Hernandez could be a possibility. My buddy who I have season tickets with lived in the same building as Roberto in 1994. My buddy had a sublease and was using a temporary parking spot, but they gave his spot to Roberto. He had to park in a garage a few blocks away and a couple hundred dollars a month. He has hated him ever since.
  9. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) im hopign and praying the angels remain way under .500 and maybe, just maybe, a guy like scott shields becomes available I can't see the Angels trading Shields even if they tank. He's way too valuable and rubber-armed.
  10. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 08:58 PM) Everyone is looking for bullpen help, and not too many teams are willing to sell because they're still in it. Which is exactly why he should have been looking to sign real relievers last winter instead of the Monteros, and Lopezs, and Bentz's of the world.
  11. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) I really dont have any problems with the trades made in the offseason. The O needed a boost from last year, along as the 5th starter, and it was adressed. It would have been nice to get a bullpen arm back in the Thome deal, but no go. Something needs to be done quick, and I really dont care if we have to overpay. This keeps up, were going to lose the season, and its all going to over the bullpen. The mother f***ing bullpen. I don't mind the trades, but he ignored replacements. Hermanson was talking retirement last October. Politte wasn't going to come anywhere near his 2005 performance, all you have to do is look at his history, and fathom has pointed out, stats show he was the luckiest pitcher in the league last year. Vizcaino was a guy who always took the ball. Marte wasn't good, but he at least would keep a lefty pinch hitter on the bench. KW had chances to sign lots of guys, but even with the payroll going up $20 million , he strayed away from the formula used to build a world champion 88 years in waiting. He blew off the bullpen and relied on signing a bunch of minor league crap to fix the problem. Maybe his success last year got to his head. He has to remember he got lucky to. He wanted to sign Wright, and reports had him nearly signed until the Yankees came in at the last second and trumped the Sox offer. He wanted no part of AJ, and tried to get Jason Kendall. At least he came to his senses with AJ, because IMO, no AJ no WS.Its going to cost him a whole lot more to fix the bullpen now in terms of talent and money than it would have if he did it last winter.
  12. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) luckily th rangers have no offense, jesus At least we know Blalock can't hit outside of Arlington.
  13. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 08:36 PM) Everyone cries, "Where is this guy, or why isnt this guy in the game..." Thats why. Ozzie has NO TRUST in this pen, and I dont blame him in the least. At least I know this is making Kenny sick. KW made me sick last winter trading bullpen guys and not getting replacements, and counting on Cotts and Politte to match or come close to last season's performances.
  14. This game is over. Cleveland is kicking the White Sox ass once again.
  15. Drop all the new centerfielder talk, KW needs to get bullpen help. As Mack then plays a flyout into a triple.
  16. Do they let that guy leave his drum at the park, or does he have to haul it there every game?
  17. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 08:28 PM) ozzie really has no idea how to manage this bullpen There's not a manager alive or who ever was alive who could manage this bullpen to success. Maybe Ozzie told him the bullpen was fine, but KW did him no favors the way he set it up this season.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) The team was encouraged with his performance last night. I could see why. 2 hits and 3 BB in 1.2 innings is just what I would be looking for in a middle reliever. As the Sox bullpen continues to show KW how huge a mistake he made this offseason ignoring it.
  19. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) ... but we all know he will. If he pitches tonight, unless this games goes extras, a lot of extras, Ozzie should be fired on the spot.
  20. Politte cannot see the mound tonight.
  21. This is why Pablo or someone should have hit for Gload instead on conceding an out. If the lead-off man got in, Saurbeck would have stayed in with Pods and Thome coming up, and the Sox would really have something going now.
  22. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) HEY. All he needs is TIME to get to 05 GARLAND FORM!!!! After his last outing 5 ER in 6 IP with only 3 HR allowed, he's back on track.
  23. We're down 2 in the 7th, Gload a lefty who never plays is facing a lefty. Why not a pinch hitter?
  24. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 07:57 PM) We're 33-19. Our starters have the second best ERA in the league. I wouldn't say this had happened all year. You are big with home and road splits. The Sox team ERA on the road is around 5.00, maybe even over, and the batting average against on the road is around .300. That is not getting it done.
