White Sox vs. Indians, 5/31/06
QUOTE(fathom @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:13 PM) You know things are bad when people are clamoring that a different player should be in the game....the same player who's one of the worst hitters in the majors. His not being in the game has cost the Sox 2 runs.

Politte is in. Ozzie has waved the white flag.

Make Mackowiak the every day CFAs Ozzie always leaves Freddy in too long if the Sox don't have the lead.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:06 PM) I'd say its just about time to get Freddy out of the game. He's not eligible for the win. So either it gets out of hand or the Sox get the lead to pull him.

White Sox vs. Indians, 5/31/06
QUOTE(ThinWhiteDuque @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:05 PM) This isn't that surprising. We have 3 major holes in the lineup (LF, CF, SS)...The offense will struggle when the 3-5 slots aren't mashing. The problem is you can't expect Thome, Konerko and Dye to keep up their current pace.

With as soft as Freddy throws now, he could probably go 150 pitches.

I was supposed to meet someone in Cleveland for tonight's game. Thank God I cancelled.

White Sox vs. Indians, 5/31/06
QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 31, 2006 -> 07:41 PM) Why would anyone, meaning from the team, bother? He's had only two bad starts all year. Last start he was tatooed, and he's getting hit tonight as the league adjusts to his adjustment. The way guys run at will against him, Freddy isn't the kind of pitcher who will be effective in the long run giving up a lot of hits. Guys just don't drop that much velocity unless they A. stopped using steroids. B. Perhaps aren't under the influence of greenies C. Have some sort of injury or D. Father time has caught up to him. He's obviously won using this style so far, but I don't think it can last. He needs his fastball.

Has anyone from the White Sox ever explained the reason for Freddy's lost velocity? Its pretty alarming.

White Sox vs. Indians, 5/31/06
Dye took his sweet ass time getting to that ball, but probably had no shot anyway.

I'm blaming the fact the Sox have 0 runs tonight on Anderson.

Lets take a stroll down memory lane...
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 31, 2006 -> 05:52 PM) In Arlington. USCF happens to be a hitter's paradise as well. Matthews is hitting better on the road this year anyways, and last year hit only .219 in Arlington.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 31, 2006 -> 05:29 PM) I think I just felt vomit in my throat. I don't think he's needed, but he's actually been halfway productive the last couple of seasons, and is hitting .308 this year with a .374 obp, a .547 slugging pct. which means his ops will pencil out to an excellent .921, plus he is better than average defensively and hits from both sides of the plate. Last year he had a higher ops than Rowand although Aaron had a .009 advantage in obp. They were pretty similar offensively.

Who sits out during Interleague play?
QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ May 31, 2006 -> 05:41 PM) Hasn't Ozzie already stated, many, many times, that Thome will not be playing in the field at all this season? He's backed off that. Thome has been taking grounders during BP.
-
Could Jon Garland win 200 games?
Garland can win 200 games, if he pitches until he's 50.

Who sits out during Interleague play?
Paulie's save a lot of errors on bad throws this season. Thome hasn't played first in almost a year. I would stick with Paulie, unless Thome happens to be on an incredible roll offensively. Since Thome has been in the NL, he probably is more familiar with most of the pitchers. I guess I would basically have to see how both are going when the series are to be played. If anything, maybe platoon them.

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ May 31, 2006 -> 05:28 PM) Matthews would be fine. I doubt Texas would trade him, though, considering they believe they can win the division. They need pitching. He's definitely not a cornerstone of their team.

I personally don't think BA being in the line-up is costing the White Sox wins. I think KW should use all his resources on the bullpen, but one CF who might be available at a reasonable price and could probably give you 2005 Aaron Rowand offensive production and has a decent glove is Gary Matthews Jr.

Cubs Acquire Phil Nevin
Doesn't Nevin have a no trade clause? He was supposed to go to Cincinatti a few years ago for Griffey but invoked it I believe. If he doesn't want to play in Cincinatti, maybe he wants no part of the urinal.
-
Hello Mr. Anderson
He can't have much confidence right now. The question to me would be what would make it worse, getting sent down to Charlotte, or continuing to fail in Chicago. I still don't think he goes anywhere unless KW gets a guy preferably right handed who can at least be an average back-up in CF. Pods to CF would be a huge mistake IMO.

Official: Clemens signs with Astros
He's been excellent with the Astros, but he is 43. It wouldn't surprise me if he started getting punished.
-
White Sox @ Indians
Pods should have been running on the first pitch. Then Cintron could have moved him to third. Of course if Mackowiak isn't going to swing it really doesn't matter. I wish they would have left Pablo in. You know if they get him out, its going to be hacking.

QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ May 30, 2006 -> 08:49 PM) martinez cant throw anyone out:alex didnt even give scotty a chance to steal If the steal was on Pods wasn't running. I think they had a sacrifice called.
-
White Sox @ Indians
Why didn't Pods steal? Cintron is in easy.

I would have stuck with Pablo. He seems to have a knack in these situations.
