  1. Pretty much, I think. "Just political talk, nothing more"
  2. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Aug 20, 2010 -> 09:08 AM) Really. "My First Amendment rights have been usurped by angry, hateful groups." Yeah, none of which involve official, government actors, and thus, you know, implicate the First Amendment. My opinion is that Dr. Laura is being disingenuous but Palin is too stupid to know the difference.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 20, 2010 -> 08:58 AM) Yup. Yep, not about bigotry and xenophobia at all!
  4. I bet the holdout juror was Dweezy.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 07:27 PM) ncaap? hahaha oops
  6. no no no, the first amendment means white people can say n***** as much as they want and if you're offended than you're just a PC liberal p**** who hates freedom and are going to NCAAP them!
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) Ah. Not a fan. I'm sorry.
  8. It was right after they showed the Homo Farnsworth riding a dinosaur.
  9. I'm really not getting why the feds should just stop trying to convict Blago of the other crimes he probably committed because he's been found guilty of one of them.
  10. I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
  11. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 12:07 PM) QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 10:47 AM) A lot. I'll ask again: how far away does "common sense" dictate it should be? I'll answer like you and crimson: .... Far enough. That's not an answer, but an admission that you can't actually defend your position.
  12. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 10:30 AM) How many muslims live within 5 miles of proposed site? 10 miles? 15 miles? A lot. I'll ask again: how far away does "common sense" dictate it should be?
  13. Lately, yeah. My point is they don't need to pass legislation to get rid of the Bush cuts for the top brackets as opposed to actually having to pass a law that benefits someone other than the upper echelon.
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 09:02 AM) If providing unemployment benefits, with the requirement of having to work for it, is a large government jobs program, then sure. When did you become a Keynesian?
  15. The later. I forget which one, but a hedge fund manager likened Obama's plan to tax their earnings like everyone else to Hitler invading Poland in 1939. The Bush tax cut one will probably happen, though, since "do nothing" will result in that and that is what Congress does best.
  16. You realize you're arguing for a large government jobs program, yes?
  17. not racist but bigoted against muslims. This is clearly the case because opponents are equating the extremists with all muslims. I'll ask again: how far away does "common sense" dictate it should be?
  18. Should we stop churches or christian community centers from being built near Planned Parenthood facilities because crazy fundamentalists have bombed them or murdered doctors before? And how far away does "common sense" dictate that they build any sort of muslim building? edit: you're also making a good argument that the fear and hatred of gays is completely nonsensical and should stop immediately since they haven't harmed anyone.
  19. Hey Balta I already said that! Scheduled refueling outages in the US occur every 18 to 24 months and typically last 30-60 days. You have to shut down the entire plant to get at the fuel. It just isn't practical to sneak it out unless their is collusion with the Russians when removing fuel. The Iranian plant uses a Pressurized Water Reactor which is similar in design and output to many US reactors, so I would imagine their refueling schedules would be the same. edit: The problem comes if Iran gets this plant operational and then backs out of the NPT. Then they'll be able to cycle and enrich the fuel in the reactor at will.
  20. hey kap does the US government have authority over US citizens, US tax law and US law in general?
  21. A few potentials in my mind: 1) The government's case was very, very weak. 2) The jury, for whatever reason, simply was not going to find him guilty (political bias?) 3) The laws against corruption and fraud in this country are hopelessly pathetic. I'm leaning towards 3.

  23. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 03:25 PM) Balta, There is no proof Israel has a nuclear weapon. A deterrent only works if the other side knows you have the capability. Deterrents dont work as a surprise. So Israel, is excluded from the comparison. The rest of the world is/was 99.999% sure Israel has the bomb. That's still a good deterrent.
