  1. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 08:13 AM) Not happening. And no, just because you use a different font doesn't mean you have my support. The bill needs to be simpler, and it needs to target more than just insurance. It can be shorter AND fix how bills are created and also regulate the insurance industry at the same time. How do you make it shorter and target substantially larger issues?
  2. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 07:37 AM) It's still 1500 pages too many, regardless. How do you plan on fixing the "engine" without tacking on an additional several thousand pages?
  3. People also like to point to the "2000! pages! LOL!" without realizing that its not like 2000 pages in a text book.
  4. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) I'd love for you to say that to me in person so we could have an in depth discussion on what's in the bill, because your claim to know whats in the bill is laughable, at best. And an outright lie in the least. You couldn't, right now, without Googling, give me ANYTHING in the bill that's not some bullet point list, and I don't need to know you to know that. You have no clue what's in the bill, or how it's written, and you couldn't even begin to decipher it without a degree in law. You THINK you know what's in the bill. You've read a few things here and there, but never the final bill, because it's not released yet, since they make changes to it from minute to minute. You've heard things, second, third or fourth hand... But you have zero understanding outside of a bullet point list as to what's ACTUALLY in the bill and how it ACTUALLY applies to real life. Not even congress knows, because 99% of them haven't read it. Same goes for the senate. I like to be real. So be real...and stop lying to yourself about understanding that bill. You don't. Neither do I. Nobody truly does. And that's the problem. You can read the bill online. I've read chunks of it. This claim that it is impossible to understand the bill because its not in its 100% final form is stupid on its face.
  5. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 07:52 PM) Because they do in this case. But, whatever. I'm sure you know it all. We need a kap response generating program.
  6. There was a documentary on Nat Geo or Discovery or something I caught a while back that followed the wildlife resurgence in and around Chernobyl. I think this was it: http://www.offthefence.com/content/program...p;Categories=27
  7. The part where you're still thinking the minority party represents the majority.
  8. Also there might be some sort of mandatory reporting from people at school that found out or something. It's creepy/ gross but it seems f***ed up to label him a sex offender. That carries very serious stigmas and difficulties for a very long time.
  9. The issue was with the Obama Admin. changing what department ran the census, but I never understood why that was a problem or why they switched it.
  10. They're not beheading people or throwing acid on girls trying to go to school. They're still terrible people, but it doesn't compare IMO.
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 5, 2010 -> 10:35 AM) Can Texas just secede already? No one will miss them. LINK I'm no fan of fundamentalist Christians, but comparing them to the Taliban is still hyperbole in this case.
  12. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 05:53 PM) What aren't you telling? What else buried in the legislation? http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-4247 GOP's page with "Additional Views" section detailing Possible Concerns: http://www.gop.gov/bill/111/1/hr4247 It appears to be mostly b****ing about not letting private schools physically restraining or secluding students and some token complaints about trial lawyers.
  13. Another brilliant 1st round draft by Angelo that results in maybe a 2nd round pick.

    LOST!!!!

I was really hoping Sayid was going to stab Kate.
  15. Copper wire and pipes being stolen from foreclosed, abandoned or new construction properties happens somewhat frequently. The scrap value can be pretty high if you get a whole house worth.
  16. QUOTE (danman31 @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 04:56 PM) So everyone slobbered over Canada all tournament, but I don't think you can make an argument that Canada was actually better throughout this tournament. They were pathetic in the group play, and no better than the US in the knockout phase. Regardless, the format is screwed up when the team with the best record throughout the tournament has to settle for silver and a team that couldn't beat Switzerland in regulation gets gold. No different than regular season NFL into the playoffs or the NCAA basketball tournament. Regular season/ "group play" sets your seeding and it's single-elimination from there.
  17. Crosby with the game-winner, that place is going crazy right now.
  18. I'm sure there are Canadian versions of TRU rooting for the USA.
  19. A US win or a game-winning goal by Toews or Keith would be fine with me. edit and no matter who wins, this has been a hell of a game.
  20. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 10:09 PM) A sport is either A) any competition involving heavy physical activity in which men so strongly outperform women that the women are either held out of the sport entirely or given their own league, or B) any competition in which males are asked to test their manliness by demonstrating their proficiency in tasks that since the dawn of man have universally fallen under the responsibility of the males within a given tribe or community, most specifically tasks relating to the procurement of food, self-defense, the defense of a tribe or community, the expansion of a tribe or community, and the taking of wives. This is why NASCAR (Danica Patrick), golf (LPGA, but no heavy physical activity), poker, beer pong, cheerleading, bowling etc. are not sports, but log-throwing (women can't do it) fishing (food), hunting (food), archery (food/fighting), and fencing (fighting) are. And if it existed, this is also why competitive polygamy would be a sport. Under this definition, war, not soccer, is the most popular team sport in the world. Awesome.
  21. A win will only add to the general cultural feeling of complete superiority for a lot of Americans. That's gotta count for something.
  22. I'll admit that the humiliation of all things Canadian is part of my rooting interest.
  23. Hey Balta, any chance the Haiti earthquake had anything to do with this?
