QUOTE(fathom @ May 1, 2007 -> 10:07 PM) Maybe it's just me, but Washburn seems very hittable tonight. These guys are overswinging on his high stuff. Dye and Uribe have had great pitches to hit. Hmm...when has that happened before... Oh yeah, when they got shut out through 8 by a guy that was hanging sliders all night long. This team's approach at the plate is worse than a little league team.

QUOTE(fathom @ May 1, 2007 -> 10:03 PM) One of the more pathetic stretch calls from Hawk in terms of judging the ball. These guys just have piss-poor ABs, especially vs LHP. But, but.....Walker says everyone's swings look just fine! Things are going dandy! It's still too cold!

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ May 1, 2007 -> 09:38 PM) weird...why wouldn't AJ play tomorrow and take tonight off against the lefty? The mysteries of this roster were never meant to be solved.

Good play by Betancourt, but it wasn't as phenomenal as they're making it out to be.

QUOTE(Capn12 @ May 1, 2007 -> 09:25 PM) Javy, you may have to pitch a no hitter so that we can get this one into extra innings, and pray for 4 HBP in a row. Or a Zumaya-like inning from last week. I bet the pitchers are pumped every night knowing that they aren't going to get s*** for run support. And I really don't care about the Cubs rain delay. Especially when it causes me to miss 2 pitches.

Car Discussion
QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 1, 2007 -> 03:26 PM) Im still in the break in period too, so supposedly i cant go over 4k RPM's. Break-in periods are crucial. Piston rings need to seat (among other things) and it can take several thousand miles for this to all happen properly. I'd highly recommend getting an oil change soon after the break-in period. There will be a bunch of fine metal in the oil from the process that you don't want.

General Reaction to Tall People
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 1, 2007 -> 03:42 PM) I've always wondered this for some reason but what is your reaction to seeing tall people in public? I always used to think that they were weird and I'd stare a lot when I was small. I still catch myself doing that once in a while, but then I realize I'm 6'5 myself. Now, I just look and think, "Man, they probably have some bad knees too." What annoys me most is when people ask if I play basketball...ugh, that pisses me off. That, and when I'm a a party or something and people ask me to stand up. I often ask people at school questions like "Do I stand out in the hallways?" or "Do I look like a giant?" It's just something that has often made me curious. SO what do you think when you see a tall person? I'm 6'3" myself, and yeah, the basketball question gets old quick. For comedy value, my girlfriend barely cracks 5'0".

Car Discussion
QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 1, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) Not sure. Ive quickly found out in 24 hours that EVERYONE who comes up next to me at a red light wants to take me off the line. The best is when they don't realize that there's a cop at the intersection. Rev back to entice them, but then just drive normally once the light turns green and watch the hilarity ensue.

Car Discussion
QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 1, 2007 -> 02:51 PM) Ill give it a go. I embarrassed a charger last night. Also i found out that my 19 in wheels with potenzas are worthless in the snow, so I have to go buy some snow tires for the winter. Thats exciting. Was it an SRT8? That's about the only one that stacks up to a GTO, speed-wise. Hope you are enjoying your car. I saw one that was almost identical here on campus yesterday. It is a very, very nice car.

Over-reaction or stopping a VT?
QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ May 1, 2007 -> 01:12 PM) Did someone say that or is this an opinion? I dont think the military will deny him because of a creative writing paper. Yes, the Marines have told him he is not welcome there. http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/360827,...essay27.article

Walker was saying that Anderson's swing was looking good. Maybe he can work with the rest of the players to get their swings to look more like his?

DEM Primaries/Candidates thread
QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 10:46 AM) That is why i also mentione d the newspapers. i don't watch the news very often, but tend to either read the paper, or catch some stuff online. i would guess that online comprises a large chunck of people's news sources. And how huge of a media empire does conservative Rupert Murdoch own?

Arrested? Probably not. t should have been looked into for sure, though. Military won't take him now, either.
