  1. Wapo, NBC, AP and WSJ all have confirmed
  2. Wapo report also indicates that the Comey memo was shared with doj, which means sessions was aware of this when he signed off on firing Comey.
  3. Trump is fundraising off of this https://twitter.com/JDiamond1/status/864605283464740865
  4. Wapo with additional reporting, says Comey memo is two pages long and very detailed. https://t.co/pADB2hHncV Not surprised that Republicans are continuing to run cover for this, sadly.
  5. Too bad Trump himself has managed to completely destroy the credibility in a very public manner of anyone trying to speak for him twice. In a week.
  6. Gotta wonder how many more time bombs Comey left out there. Firing him was possibly the dumbest move Trump's made yet.
  7. In a sane world, this leads to Trump being led out of the White House in handcuffs. It wouldn't be Trump without threats to the media:

  9. How The Pro-Trump Media Responds To A Crisis In Just 4 Steps Really good look at how the rightwing media treats any information negative to their worldview. they missed Part 5, "Trump admits he did it lol" though

  11. I think so. He's also an awful person who recently argued that Jesus meant to only be kind and helpful to Christians.
  12. McMaster is going to be out the door soon and Trump still really wishes he had a known compromised asset as his head of NSC. edit: you all should read this NYT article At a Besieged White House, Tempers Flare and Confusion Swirls https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/16/us/white...staff.html?_r=0
  13. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ May 16, 2017 -> 12:36 PM) I went to Glacier almost every summer as a kid. The park is sensational. My parents have some pretty crazy photos of what Grinnell Glacier looked like back in the late '70s and what it looked like the last time I was there (mid 2000s). The amount that it had receded, even at that time, was jarring. ETA: To echo SS, if you can get reservations at Sperry Chalet, it's absolutely a must-do. With Sperry Chalet as a base, you can get over to Sperry Glacier without any real difficulty, and the hike in over Gunsight Pass and across Lake Ellen Wilson is spectacular. But I don't think I would ever backpack in. The amount of grizzlies in the park generally, and the amount before you get to Gunsight Pass specifically, make backpacking back there an exercise that I would not be interested in doing. I think they have opened up Granite Park Chalet with limited services on the Highline Trail. That's a pretty awesome part of the park as well. And another place that I would not sleep in a tent. Granite Park was open when we were there in 2013. Funny enough, this rustic cabin 8 miles into the Rockies was the place with the best cell signal our entire trip. Heading down the switchbacks from Granite Park was also where both my wife and I hyperextended our knees on Day 1 of our trip after we ran into a couple of black bear cubs on the trail (didn't know where mom was, and it was our first bear encounter). I'd camp in black bear country, but we saw at least two dozen grizzlies from a distance up at Many Glacier. We stayed at Lake McDonald and Swiftcurrent in Many Glacier. I've heard Apgar village is really nice, too. We're having a daughter this summer, and one of our goals is to get back up to Grinnell when she's old enough to do the hike and appreciate it but before the glacier is entirely gone. We'll see if that works out. photographic evidence of how much it's receded:
  14. Israel Was Source of Secret Intelligence That Trump Gave to Russians, Officials Say https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/05/16/world...=0&referer=
  15. Putin gets Trump to hold the meeting in the first place, Trump & Co let a known Russian spy and Russian state media into the oval office with tons of equipment but no US press, and then Trump reveals highly classified information from one of our allies to the Russians. All of this after he fires Comey because Comey was investigating his campaign's ties to Russia.
  16. This McMaster press conference is a disaster and he just confirmed that Trump revealed the city where the source was and that he decided to share this information on the spot. Brutal. They had no real answer for why if Trump's sharing of info with the Russians was no big deal, some staff immediately contacted the CIA and NSA in order to start the damage control, and why the WaPo story would somehow be the thing that damages national security.
  17. Flynn would still be the NSA advisor if no one had leaked the info to WaPo
  18. Garland isn't dumb and this transparent move by McConnell has probably pissed him off extremely.
  19. Various Senator leadership members have sent strong signals that Cornyn isn't right "at this time." Plus that would mean McConnell loses a solid supporter and friend in the Senate and they have to run a special in Texas--most likely a safe seat, but it's still something else to defend. Trey Gowdy's face looks like a Goldeneye 007 character model from some angles. So weirdly flat and pointy.
  20. there's some guy projecting "PAY TRUMP BRIBES HERE", "EMOLUMENTS WELCOME" and the text of the emoluments clause over the entrance to Trump's DC hotel. https://twitter.com/igorvolsky/status/864306427720085504
  21. I don't know why he'd give up a lifetime appointment on maybe the second most important court in the land for a position where he reports to Jeff Sessions and can be fired on a whim by Trump. But yeah him giving up that seat would be extremely bad.
