Trump is demanding investigations of pelosi and Schumer?
-
Sessions used campaign funds to visit with the Russian ambassador. https://twitter.com/Amy_Siskind/status/8374...src=twsrc%5Etfw That means he lied in response to both frankens broad question and the narrower written question.
-
Two other Trump campaign members met with the Russian ambassador during the RNC. https://t.co/1Dnlrifttq The only change the Trump campaign demanded to the platform was softening language on Russia.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 03:31 PM) He remembers it all so vividly now. I mean, he was even fighting for Ukraine and it caused great tension! Notice he has not recused himself from any investigation into flynn lying. He was also wishy washy on whether he's met with anyone besides the ambassador ("I do not recall") and he only said he'd recuse himself from Trump campaign investigations, not Trump administration investigations. Our new AG's first press conference was to deny charges of perjury and conspiring with foreign spies. Earlier in the day, both the White House press secretary and the President himself said they saw no reason for Sessions to recuse himself, and only a few hours later we're getting a (partial) recusal. Truly this administration is a well-oiled machine.

QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 03:56 PM) This has to be fake, right? https://twitter.com/ZaidJilani/status/837418987583651841 uh... I do love all of these Republican crocodile tears about townhall meetings being disrupted.

"I was going to recuse anyway!" Haha nice try

Bit of weird drama in DC today with an alleged House GOP healthcare bill being kept under lock and key in a secure location, being moved around, and some Republicans demanding to see it. http://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/32199...secure-location

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 11:53 AM) Nunes has zero interest in investigating this. ZERO cant imagine why Rand Paul was at least honest about it. Why waste time investigating fellow Republicans when they're busy trying to strip health care from millions?

McCaskill is a centrist Democrat calling for sessions to resign but made a statement that at best confuses the issue unnecessarily. She said that she's been a member of the same committee as sessions, the armed services committee, for ten years and had never met with Russian ambassadors, but she also talked about meeting with Russian ambassadors regarding ending us adoptions from Russia several years ago. I think the claim is that as part of that committee she hasn't met with Russian ambassadors and sessions wouldn't have a reason to either, but her statement muddies the water. E: this is a good point, franken didn't even directly ask sessions whether he had contacts with Russia, it was something sessions offered himself. https://twitter.com/CahnEmily/status/837315...src=twsrc%5Etfw

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 07:14 AM) Exactly, he could get away with that interpretation in Sen Leahys questionnaire, but this one did not specify about the campaign nor did he even ask Sessions directly. Sessions went out of his way to lie. And an odd thing to lie about! It is totally normal for high ranking Senators to meet with Ambassadors. He lied...Flynn lied...Cohen has lied. Sure is weird! Senator McCaskill pushes back against the idea that it'd be normal for sessions to have contact with foreign ambassadors as part of his role in the Senate https://twitter.com/clairecmc/status/837272...src=twsrc%5Etfw E: she released a statement reiterating this and calling in sessions to resign for having "misled the Senate." Wish they'd use more forceful language and say flat out that he lied under oath. E: but apparently she did meet with a Russian ambassador several years ago? https://twitter.com/BraddJaffy/status/83730...src=twsrc%5Etfw

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 07:20 AM) He was the ONLY member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to meet with the Russian ambassador, period...and not just once, BUT TWICE. Flynn Manafort Cohen Sessions Tillerson Wilbur Ross http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/1...l-ties-russians Donald Jr. and Eric Trump However, he and his family have had many dealings in Russia and with Russian émigrés elsewhere. Donald Trump Jr., for example, was a keynote speaker at a Moscow real estate conference in 2008. “Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets,” Trump Jr. said during his speech, according to reports from the time. “We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia.” Read more here: http://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/politics-g...l#storylink=cpy You left out Carter Page, who was brought to the Trump campaign by Sessions.

Here's Sessions explaining why it's very important to prosecute people for perjury, a thing he committed in his confirmation hearings: https://twitter.com/lhfang/status/837155176116973568 e: "I did not have international relations with that country."

Sessions went out of his way to lie. And an odd thing to lie about! It is totally normal for high ranking Senators to meet with Ambassadors. He lied...Flynn lied...Cohen has lied. Sure is weird! Credit to Lindsay Graham for calling on Sessions to recuse himself from any DoJ investigation of the Trump campaign's/administration's ties with Russia. He is not impartial and clearly cannot be trusted to be honest with the public.
-
Speaking of Sessions being predictably awful, he has dismissed the DoJ's reports on police abuse without even having read them. There's a very good reason that Republicans in the 1980's recognized Sessions as too racist to hold a federal judicial position, and he's doing nothing to change his ways in the following 30 years. He's also dropped the DoJ's challenge of Texas Republicans' race-based voter ID law

QUOTE (brett05 @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 06:42 AM) He spoke truthfully as far as anyone can see. He was asked if he spoke with the Russians specifically about the campaign. He answered no. It was not an open ended question. Stop lying. And here's the video of the question from Franken. https://twitter.com/JamieOGrady/status/8371...src=twsrc%5Etfw He was asked if anyone from Trump's campaign had contact with Russia during the campaign, and he lied by refusing to disclose that he himself had had contact with the Russians.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 1, 2017 -> 01:27 PM) The thing about the speech is he provided no guidance on his preference for health care, so the debate goes on. The immigration stuff could be interesting, but then why was the gang of 8 bill untenable? The gang of 8 bill had the compromise of more border security + fencing, points based immigration and path to citizenship. That got killed from the right. I guess it's good now? What we do know from the speech is he views violence as a political exploitation tool exclusively, and doesn't care to fix it. Which is honestly probably better than him trying to fix it.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 1, 2017 -> 08:35 AM) Like how Trump continues to call the Yemen raid a "great success". A raid that killed 30 civilians, including women and children. People living in one of the poorest countries in the world. Morally bankrupt. It also failed to achieve it's objective. Dead US military, scores of dead civilians including an 8 year old US citizen, lost equipment, and lost future cooperation with Yemen. In pretty much every possible way, the raid was a failure.

Best of luck, Steve. Melanoma runs in my family too, so it's something I've got to be on the look out for.
