  1. Huh, the Trump administration is deeply incompetent and incapable of performing even the most basic tasks? Who could ever have seen that coming!
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 12:14 PM) What is considered middle class income these days? Median household income is ~$50k.
  3. Who Benefits From Donald Trump's Tax Plan? spoiler:
  4. Rest of the GOP now fully and openly on board with white nationalism.
  5. But stuff will still be happening domestically and globally that needs to be responded to competently. I have zero expectations of that happening and every single day has brought only more evidence in favor of that view, but we shouldn't treat that like it won't have potentially dire consequences.
  6. Didn't McGovern bank his '72 campaign on all the newly-empowered 18-20 year olds coming out to vote?
  7. Absurdity is good right now because these are absurd times. Really appreciate your recent posts.
  8. Giuliani front runner for secretary of state. Glad Trump is doing his part to immediately dispel any idea of "benefit of the doubt"
  9. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 10:51 AM) I blame Mark Zuckerberg. (Only semi-sarcastic) Google’s top news link for ‘final election results’ goes to a fake news site with false numbers
  10. SPLC-STEPHEN BANNON HAS NO BUSINESS IN THE WHITE HOUSE We at @ADL_National oppose the appt of Steve Bannon to sr role at @WhiteHouse bc he & his alt-right are so hostile to core American values
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 10:25 AM) i dunno man, i continue to be surprised at how much people love what he says and completely ignore what he does. Don't forget that we should also apparently ignore all of the s***ty things he says that they don't feel like defending.
  12. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 10:05 AM) Medicare is actually a popular program. Ryan attacking Medicare (assuming that does in fact happen) will be political suicide. Also, some good fact checking on Medicare solvency from the Washington Post... https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-ch...is-going-broke/ If they phase it out so that it doesn't immediately start screwing everyone over but will only impact people who are say 55 or younger right now, it'll soften the political blow. Kentuckians did the same thing to themselves recently when they elected Bevin governor, but they went strongly Republican again last week. This is why Ryan lent his tepid support for Trump all along. He's been trying to gut our social safety nets for his entire time in Congress.
  13. took a few days off of politics, come back to find 1) a white nationalist is one of the first appointments to a very powerful position in Trump's administration and 2) Ryan and co. are already gunning for Medicare. We are in for an incredibly awful 4+ years.
  14. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 03:59 PM) He claimed that Muslim Americans were wildly celebrating 9/11. That's a pretty effective way to stir up anti-Muslim sentiment. He also claimed that they knew "what was going on" and implicated the Muslim American community at large in the Pulse nightclub shootings.
  15. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) Ha, good point. Forgot about that. Our President and First Lady have had countless numbers of those people in the White House as role models and first class citizens. But, ya know, #itsdifferent. Are you actually serious with this right now?
  16. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 03:54 PM) I haven't and I don't find it acceptable. However I'm not going to lie and stand on my soap box and pretend like i haven't said/thought something that objectifies or sexualizes women in a way that i'm not particularly proud of. We all do and if you say you haven't you're full of s***. We were all 12 years old once. Well, two things. While objectifying women is still wrong, this is beyond that and you know it. This was bragging about sexual assault, not objectification. This was multiple women accusing him of actually doing it. And this was from a man in his 50's, not a 12 year old child.
  17. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 03:51 PM) Jenks, you're better than that. Don't pretend that dudes talking about girls being hot and wanting to be with them is the same as talking about how you cheat on your wife and sexually assault women. People keep pretending it was about "lewd" language and not about him bragging about sexual assault, denying he ever did it and then having a dozen women come out and say that he had, in fact, done the very thing he bragged about doing.
  18. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 03:49 PM) Regarding the first link: you clearly forgot thr rest of the sentence in your post. And was this not right after some sort of terrorist event? "UNTIL we figure what is going on" Not forever Banning people from the country based on religion for one minute is one minute too long.
  19. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 03:47 PM) Yeah, just be sure you tell her honestly the things you've said and thought about women in your own life. Cuz i'm sure it's been all saintly and respectable. Oh, and make sure you bring up that the 42nd President is/was the exact same. I haven't bragged about sexually assaulting women. Pretty f***ed up if you have imo.
  20. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 03:27 PM) Shouldn't they have been worried for what Obama might have done? No matter who is President there will always be groups of people in the United States that are worried. But for some reason it a much bigger deal when those worried are minorites. Because we have a few centuries of history as a full-blown white supremacist country.
  21. It'll be great to end Common Core just as all the school districts have switched their curriculum to it. Defunding public schools via charters, religious and home schools will be disasterous. Block-granting Medicaid means the destruction of Medicaid. Purchasing across state lines means a race to the bottom so that all of our policies come from Delaware or SD, just like all of our credit cards do.
  22. Term limits put more power into the hands of lobbyists over a never-ending stream of people coming into the job fresh. They're the ones who will have the long-term relationships and understanding of how the system works.
  23. QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:53 AM) I just don't understand how this can get glossed over so easily. Hours after he won, I saw the GOP talking heads, very quickly for the first time saying "In terms of the wall, he didn't really mean a 'wall' but more of a bigger fence around 'some' of the border" What? That was #1 rally cry for his base at every stop he made. We're we supposed to know these were 100% empty promises? Did everyone at the rallies know that? He was literally promising to make every one of their dreams come true at his rallies. He's a conman and tens of millions of Americans bought into it.
  24. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:34 AM) I couldnt disagree more with Mike Pence or any other far right persons views on gay rights. That said, Trump always seemed to say positive things about the LGBTQ community and would hold up rainbow flags at his rallies and stuff like that. Id be more worried about Roe V. Wade because he has actually mentioned that and he is gonna have the SCOTUS. As far as I know the only damage they could do in terms of abortion is kick it back to the states to decide, might be wrong on that, but Id really like the GOP to take this opportunity to update their archaic social views. Trump personally doesn't seem to actively dislike LGBT. But he also doesn't really care about it very much, as evidenced by his VP choice being extremely anti-LGBT and letting the Family Research Council write the GOP's plank on anti-LGBT. He'll appoint whatever conservative justice his advisers tell him, and he's surrounded himself with people who are anti-LGBT. Why would the GOP update their social views? They won.
  25. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:31 AM) Correct, many of those federal policies will be deemed unconstitutional. Sorry, we're going to have a conservative 5-4 supreme court, maybe even 6-3 if RBG doesn't hold out for at least four more years.
