  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 11:23 PM) What next Robert E. Lee was a terrorist, too? Nathan Bedford Forrest... Over the last 20-30 years, you would think his military career (mostly in the cavalry) was the equal of Jeb Stuart. Many of the atrocities he committed during the Civil War have been brushed away or covered over by revisionists. The South lost that particular war...and NBF eventually went on to found the KKK. So Duke, do you think Nathan Bedford Forrest is more of a hero than Mandela? both of those men should have swung from a tree for their crimes against humanity and for leading an armed insurrection in the name of slavery. Nbf especially.
  2. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 06:06 PM) He was a murderer and war criminal that got a free pass. Go back to storm front
  3. One of the greatest fighters for justice in human history. RIP. http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/05/world/africa....html?hpt=hp_t1 eta: jesus christ the comments on that, why did I subject myself
  4. Well that sucks. Comcast gets to charge on both ends now. eta: well it looks like the FCC chair said he thinks they should be able to, but it's not the official FCC policy yet. Killing net neutrality in favor of the big telecoms would be awful. http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2013/12...rnet-fast-lane/
  5. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 10:18 AM) DLP's are very nice, the technology, while dated, produces a really amazing picture. I know, because before moving to Plasma, I owned one, and so did a friend of mine. The nicest thing about them is when the picture dims over years of usage, replacing the bulb puts it right back to brand new quality. The problem with DLP's is they're not wall mountable, which is a nonstarter for a lot of people these days. DLPs still see a lot of use in high-end, high-demand video applications. We're building a video wall for a customer that spec'd out 8 70" DLP's, and they are not cheap.
  6. I've no problem with people who hunt deer and other animals like that and who will use the meat. I would definitely enjoy the camping, tracking and wilderness aspects, I enjoy target shooting, but I'd rather just shoot a picture of an actual animal. But I also enjoy the end-product, so I wouldn't judge there. Big game trophy hunters? Poachers? Should be legal to hunt them.
  7. I know essentially nothing about hunting, but don't you need to go field dress the animal pretty quickly so that you avoid rot/infection? edit: also, wolves own
  8. Government procurement is god-awful and it obviously played a big role in this process. It appears to have been managed poorly internally. But that still doesn't mean generic "government never does anything right!" or "see! the ACA is doomed to failure!" arguments any less silly. Executive and administrative incompetence, especially as they relate to IT projects, isn't limited to government though.
  9. What ACA rules would have delayed the general coding of the website? I wish he'd link to those multiple sources to see what, exactly, the delayed rules were and how they may have impacted implementation of the website. Also that is the article that drove me to make that post!
  10. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/04/us/one-m...tml?hp&_r=0 What sort of country do we live in where it's even a question whether this man should be charged with murder?
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 08:22 AM) Now that the filibuster is gone for nominees it's time for the head of HHS to fall on her sword. Metaphorically speaking, of course. I don't know where that breakdown would have started. Did the law state when procurement would begin? Was it an issue with a lack of adequate funding and legislative flexibility? "Buck stops here" and all that, but where this exactly went wrong really should be evaluated, not just a couple of top-level managers losing their jobs.

I dropped my old phone constantly. It looked like hell, but the screen never cracked and it never seemed to cause it any issues. When I got my HTC One, I got a case because the phone just felt "slippery" in my hands and I knew I'd be dropping it like crazy. A few phones back, I had a case, but quickly stopped using it because of the bulk.
  13. The fact the website is largely working pretty well now is a pretty good argument that the problem wasn't 'government' or the concept itself, but that it should have been started 3-6 months earlier and then the roll-out would have essentially been fine.
  14. California republicans set up a fake Obamacare website with misleading and outright false information. They've used taxpayer funds to send out mailers directing people to this intentionally misleading website as if it were the actual California exchange website. Because freedom, or something. http://wonkette.com/535557/hero-california...-obamacare-site
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 10:09 AM) Nice I have a similar one. Make sure you surf the internet for the config specs. I had to make a lot of tweaks before I got it the way I wanted. Just go over to avs forum and search your model number.first thing I did.they've got free calibration DVD's you can download and burn as well.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 07:14 AM) Alshon has been nothing short of a revelation this season. His hands are amazing Having him and Brandon Marshall on the same team is just ridiculous. If they had one good, fast receiver, this WR group would be unstoppable.
  17. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 07:10 AM) I was thinking the same thing. The defense knows 100% you are going to run, and your O-line is not the best at run blocking. There is a good chance the FG becomes longer on 3rd down. Throw a quick slant, run a bootleg so he can dump it out of bounds, anything. Robbie Gould is a fantastic kicker, but 47 yards is never a given. You shouldn't have so little confidence in your offense, especially when they've put up damn near 500 yards.
  18. No, there's no way kicking on 2nd wasn't a dumb call.
  19. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 1, 2013 -> 07:10 PM) The length of the product cycles makes me want to kill myself. My HTC One is already considered outdated and it has aged better than all the other models that came out at that time. pretty good reason to not give a s*** about whether it's "outdated" or not
  20. bad, bad spot in favor of the Bears there. That was another horrible, go-nowhere 1-yard-up-the-middle-can't-make-it run.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 1, 2013 -> 03:32 PM) Haha, what a ridiculous game. FWIW, Pereira saying the face mask was obvious call. twitter?
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 1, 2013 -> 03:28 PM) Pereira saying they've been bad calls. good, they've been pretty blatantly horrible. If you're going to pick up the clear late hit by Allen, you can't call that weak-ass non-horsecollar.
  23. hahahahha eat a dick vikings
