We had a series of fights with our seller (really it was his real estate agent) including multiple threats to cancel the contract and re-list if we didn't agree to ever-changing demands.
  2. Forgot to post this yesterday. It was the 50th Anniversary of King's "Letter from a Birmingham Jail." One of the most powerful pieces of writing I've ever read. http://www.africa.upenn.edu/Articles_Gen/L...Birmingham.html
  3. Every person buys everything in cash. The mortgage industry disappeared somewhere around 1988. Which was one of the major theoretical problems with R&R's conclusions: if you followed them through and the US sold off some of its trillions-of-dollars-of-assets to lower the ratio to, say, 30%, we should expect substantially improved growth in the very near future. The whole thing was just an exercise in correlations, not a development of an actual explanatory model. And they likely got the causation wrong, anyway (slow growth leads to higher debt, not the other way around).

  5. I'm sadly aware that facts don't matter.
  6. Yeah but now we can say there's zero theoretical basis for the Ryan budget since their 2010 is the only thing he bothers to cite.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 09:09 AM) So it's racist and fear mongering for news outlets to report on fact. Got it. The NY Post was not reporting on "fact" when they claimed that their was a suspect in custody.
  8. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 16, 2013 -> 10:54 AM) Because it's noteworthy that the authorities have found someone they think is worth guarding? All the major networks (and the NY Post!) reported it. Your rush to blame this on racism, or even worse, fear-mongering, was an overreaction and completely unnecessary. Let's not let the NY Post off the hook for their horrendously s***ty "reporting" yesterday. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/16/n..._n_3092814.html
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 16, 2013 -> 02:45 PM) Ok, but that's not someone who is crazy. Her baffling ignorance is caused by her bats*** insanity. Don't make me pull links.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 16, 2013 -> 01:14 PM) I don't see anything crazy there, just someone who is clearly uninformed. BENGHAZI ARMED DRONE STRIKES She's the equivalent of a blog commentator, but she sits on the House Intelligence Committee.
  11. The oft-cited Reinhart & Rogoff paper from 2010 on national debt levels and economic growth, which stated that debt levels about 90% GDP dragged on the economy, appears to have several fatal flaws: http://www.nextnewdeal.net/rortybomb/resea...rDQo2L4.twitter
  12. AMERICA’S TOP SPIES LOOK AT MICHELE BACHMANN LIKE SHE’S CRAZY (FOR A LONG TIME) she really is completely bonkers
  13. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 16, 2013 -> 10:33 AM) She flat out refuses. I've asked her time and time again to just go talk to someone. and all I get is that they'll put her on medication and she doesnt want to take those evil medicines. Maybe someone from your church could help convince her?

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 16, 2013 -> 10:49 AM) By law I don't think an employer can limit you at all. They might not like you being gone for a month, but they can't prevent you from going either. By law, sure, but that doesn't mean they can't really hold it against you or that they have to pay you for the days you miss.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Apr 16, 2013 -> 10:55 AM) On my list of priorities paying my bills > civic duty. Yeah if your employer won't pay you for jury duty, that's a very different story.

what ever happened to civic duty?
  18. Following the lead story on Boston, pbs covered multiple bombings in Iraq today that have left 55 dead and city blocks leveled.
  19. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 04:58 PM) ---> So much for other bombs. But this is how fear works, assumptions are made that scare people even more. The JFK library incident wasn't what I was referring to. http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/15/us/boston-ma...ions/index.html Authorities in Boston found at least one other explosive device that they were dismantling, Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis said.
  20. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 04:49 PM) Ha, apparently a Boston NPR reporter just reported that a suspect is under guard. not seeing this on the national site, might be circular confirmation "there are reports..." nothing on BBC, boston globe etc.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 04:55 PM) Where are you getting your old-ass info? The Boston Globe ✔ @BostonGlobe MARATHON EXPLOSIONS: Two killed, at least 90 injured in Boston Marathon finish line explosions; third blast reported at JFK Library Update at 5:26 p.m. ET. Third Explosion 'Fire Related': The Boston Police Department says the third explosion at the JFK Library "appears to be fire related." Earlier the Boston Police said they were treating it as related to the two explosions at the finish line, but the JFK Library tweeted that fire in the building appeared to "have started in the mechanical room of new building."
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 04:55 PM) Last report from CNN said 100+. http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2013/0...hon-finish-line Update at 5:40 p.m. ET. At Least 60 Injured: According to an NPR count of patients at area hospitals, at least 60 people were injured. NPR reports: — "Brigham and Womens' Hospital has received 18 to 20 patients, with 2 in critical condition." — "Boston Medical Center has received 20 patients, including 2 children, all from the Marathon bombs. Most of these patients have lower-leg injuries, according to a hospital spokesperson. They don't have anything yet about condition of injured."
  23. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 04:48 PM) an entire city is on lockdown there were several unexploded bombs in the city and there could be more. Yeah, not exactly unreasonable for people in Boston to be scared and shook-up right now.
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 04:44 PM) <!--quoteo(post=2784040:date=Apr 15, 2013 -> 04:30 PM:name=Jenksismyb****)-->QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 04:30 PM) <!--quotec--> I respect the balls on those policemen to go straight at the bomb source without thinking twice. Yeah, I'd imagine the first thing on my mind would be "secondary bombs" especially since there was a 10s delay between them. edit: and first reaction would probably be to gtfo
  25. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 15, 2013 -> 04:45 PM) What's the other one? The death count? yeah, plus their reputation overall as a s***ty tabloid rag.
