Why even allow a sign like this in PA? It's only going to add confusion. The State of PA itself was sending out flyers with false information saying that an ID was required to vote, as well.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 03:26 PM) They think he has a good chance in PA. That'd help a lot, especially if he can pull in Florida and maybe Ohio/Michigan. They've been saying all along that their internal polling is more favorable for him. I dunno how to take that really. If I were a campaign manager, I wouldn't fudge the numbers positively, I'd be more negative. "Voters, we're going to lose unless you get to the polls!" If the Romney campaign was running on the public polls straight-up, they'd be talking about being a long-shot. Not exactly an enthusiastic message compared to his "expanding the map" smokescreen. Claiming that they're competitive in PA might motivate more Republicans to vote instead of assuming the state is a lost cause.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 02:14 PM) Open source I think is a horrible idea. Why not just put a sign up that says "please hack us"? Better to have the source code reviewed by a nonpartisan agency for all new versions that come out? No print-outs, just software analysts looking for problems and testing, then turning the machines back over. That also gives you the benefit of being able to check for software changes (via object compares) on machines in actual use later. Open-source is arguably more beneficial from a security standpoint. Any system, be it physical or cyber, has countless vulnerabilities both known and unknown. Getting those systems poked and proded in the public realm can bring many of those vulnerabilities to light. And, as with any aspect of cybersecurity, step one is physical security--without access to the physical voting machines, all of that "hacking" is useless. http://jps.anl.gov/Volume3/Paper1_Loughlin.pdf http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_source_software_security

Isn't Obama's rally at McCormick? edit: the office my wife used to work in overlooked O'Hare. She could always tell when Obama was coming in because the place shut down.

I went to the wrong place to vote! There's three middle/elementary schools within 4 blocks of my house and I mixed them up. Other than that, no problems and no lines at either.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 10:37 AM) That math doesnt even make sense, unless Ohio is overwhelmingly Democrat. It was an error. They posted place-holder data. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20121106/CINCI/121106009/

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 10:35 AM) Id rather not get rid of 11/11 seeing as that is a world holiday. There really is no reason that election day cant just be a holiday on its own. When did it switch from Armistice Day?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 10:31 AM) It would be nice, but I am not convinced it would really matter. Indiana had over 200 hours of early voting spread over a month+. Some states still do not have any early voting, or they restrict early voting on certain days for arbitrary and partisan reasons e.g. Ohio not having early voting this past Sunday.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 10:29 AM) Overall, early vote turnout OH up 2.44% in state. Down -4.1% in Obama/Kerry counties; up 14.39% in Bush/McCain counties. — Josh Kraushaar (@HotlineJosh) November 6, 2012 Gannett issued a retraction and an apology, I think? I'm not 100% clear reading this post but I think the data was place-holder data and not real: http://hotair.com/archives/2012/11/06/romn...h-early-voting/

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 09:58 AM) There has to be a viable 3rd party first. This obviously a leftist slant, but it makes the case for why voting is important, even if you don't like the top of the ticket:

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 10:09 AM) I believe it's much more than that. Well that's the stated goal. It's a big confusing mess, and we should never amend our Constitution with big confusing messes.
