Nice bunt, Caballo. No DP's Paulie!

32,360 in attendance.

Not only was that ball off the plate, but it was at Frank's shin. More fine work from the boys in blue. :headshake:

Starting tonight, the schedule goes as follows: 3 vs. Minn. 3 at Cle. 4 at. Minn. 3 vs. Texas 3 vs. Ana. 2 at Oak. 3 at Sea. 3 vs. Phil. 3 vs. Atl. 3 at Fla. 3 at Mtl. 4 vs. Cle. 3 vs. Cubs 3 at Minn. 3 at Cubs 3 vs. Ana. 3 vs. Sea. 10 games vs the Twinkies (7 on the road), 5 games on the West Coast, 6 at home vs. the Angels, three on the road vs the World Champs, and 6 games vs. the Northsiders. The next month and a half is gonna be quite a rollercoaster. Hope the Sox come up on the plus side of the majority of these games. BTW, the 2nd half starts just as competetive as the Sox open with 4 at Oakland, 2 at Texas, & 3 at Cleveland, before returning home for 3 with Detroit and 3 with Minnesota.

I hate the Lakers, but I'm kinda hoping they win this series to set up a possible showdown between them and the Kings. I know the Kings-Wolves series is tied at 2, but I got a good feeling that Sactown can win the next 2.

17 seconds left, Spurs up 71-70 & Kobe nails a jumper to put the Lakers up by 1. 5.4 seconds, Duncan goes top of the key and over Shaq nails one to put the Spurs up 73-72 with .04 left. Payton inbounds, looks for Kobe, who's double-teamed, finds Fisher, who catches and shoots over Ginobli's outstretched hand. Basket good, Lakers win 74-73. 2 last second buckets. How often does that happen?

Friday: Loshe vs. Schoenweis Saturday: Greisinger vs. Loaiza Sunday: Silva vs. Buerhle

You sound like a Cubs fan. It's one start, for goodness sakes.

Definitely not trying to put that ahead of today's DH with the O's, but a few things worth noting: The good: No Koskie (DL), and the Sox will miss 2 additional Achilles heels in Santana (pitching today) and Radke (pitched last night). Hunter may not be his stellar self in CF this week due to prior injuries. Not that he won't try, though. Twins are 7-8 on the road this year. Now, the bad: We won't miss Silva and his 5-0 record. Plus, the Sox have never faced him before. Got an uneasy feeling about that game. Even though Hunter is banged up, Lew Ford has been playing a decent CF, so the outfield defense may remain intact for them. The Sox have to face them in the house of horrors next week. Hope the Sox have great success in today's DH, and more success this weekend and next weekend.

OUT LOUD: Doug Mientkiewicz E-mail this story Printer-friendly format Search archives OUT LOUD -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Steve Rosenbloom chats with some of the biggest sports and entertainment figures. Chicago Tribune May 13, 2004 Steve Rosenbloom gets to first base with the Twins infielder in Minneapolis. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If I'm the bad guy, so be it. I wasn't trying to point fingers at White Sox fans (When he said Major League Baseball should take the 2003 All-Star Game away from the Sox after fans ran out onto the field). It just so happened that two instances happened, and sometimes I don't think about what I say. Manischevitz. I've heard them all. It's good, though. Some people want to rip on you and they can't pronounce your last name (It's pronounced Mine-KAY-vich). Knoblauch got it pretty bad. They started throwing hot dogs at him in left field a couple years ago. That was pretty funny. Mike Eruzione. I used to watch him play minor-league hockey in Toledo. He was a big influence in what I do. I got to meet him and hang out with him. That was one of the coolest nights of my life. I still remember sitting on the shag carpet and watching the Russia game. I'm starstruck real easy. I worked out next to Tiger Woods in a gym. It was only the two of us and his trainer, and I didn't say a word to him. I was intimidated. If I ever get to meet Dan Marino, I think I'll faint. I've always said that they (The Sox) are the most talented team in our division the last five years. Ozzie Guillen, I think people in Chicago are now seeing his fieriness. That's the first thing we all said when they hired him: That's a different squad. The honest to God truth of what happened (In the season-turning series the Sox and Twins played last year at The Cell) was Newmy. Our third-base coach Al Newman had a brain aneurysm in the dugout before Game 3. We lost the first two games of the series and we were down. We were hanging on by a thread. And there's our third-base coach laying in the dugout about to die. What that did for us is that it took what was going on on the field, in this pennant race, and it just pushed everything aside. It's like it's not life or death. It's a baseball game. So what if we don't win another game the rest of the year and we don't win our division. So what. We got a guy who's been with us from Day 1 fighting for his last breath. It kind of eased the pressure on us. You take a step back. Realize where you are. Realize what you do. Realize there are 15 million people who would change places with you. We used that. Sometimes things like that work. From what I've read and from what I've seen, I look like Konerko. He's very intense. I see a lot of myself in the way he goes about his business. Money is overrated. You have to have a woman who's willing to take on a lot of the burden for six months. I was 14 or 15 and my dad built a cage in my back yard. He's got a sign up there: "100 swings a day. You're only cheating yourself." I shaved every hair on my body one year in A-ball. I was like 5-for-110. I ended up hitting like .295 that year. It (Winning the 2000 Olympic gold medal in baseball) was the most amazing feeling I ever had in baseball. In life, for that matter. Coming off of my '99 season, I was no doubt the worst player in the major leagues that year. I'd run through a brick wall for him (Former Twins manager Tom Kelly). The kids, to me, are what it's all about. If it's just a piece of paper, I'll sign it. I signed the top of a toilet seat one time. I didn't have it in me to ask what it was for, because I'd think everytime they flushed the toilet they'd think of me. Copyright © 2004, The Chicago Tribune

Stone just said he doesn't know the last time a batter was at bat any longer. How 'bout April 6, twit? BTW, 4-0 LA, and Clement's night is done. -

Farnsworth warming up in the 'pen. I was listening to JHood on the Score earlier and apparently during warmups, Farnsworth was shagging flies and in trying to catch one, ran straight into the outfield wall. -

So far, through 7, Wilson has made those 2 runs stand up. I'm happy for Wilson. Poor guy finally got a big payday with the D-Rays, then got hurt almost immediately. Good to see him enjoying a little bit of success. Now take him out for Mota, and then Gagne. Don't want to see him lose this one. -

Bradley with an easy comebacker to Clement with runners on 1st and 2nd and 2 outs. Clement lobs it to 1st, Bradley beats it to load the bases. Next batter, Shawn Green hits one off of Ramirez for one run. Next batter Beltre hits one that Ramirez bobbles. 2-0 Dodgers courtesy of Cubbie laziness. -
The smartest guys on ATH are the Dallas guys (Cowlishaw & Blackistone) and the other guy from the LA Times (Adande), & Michael Smith from the Boston Globe. Naturally, these are always the first ones eliminated, thus leaving you with Plaschke (dope), Paige (idiot), Ryan (smug), and Kotex Boy ($&%&@!).

With Wilson Alvarez at the plate, Chip just said that if Alvarez played Redford's character in "The Natural", his name would be Roy Hobbles. Next pitch: A base hit off of Clement. Serves you right, pud. -

f*** Stick???? Never heard of that one before. Actually, that's pretty good. -
I know yanking half priced nights would be highly unpopular, but it seems that everytime one comes up and with nice weather, you get these lowlife idiots with their "Cub-fan" like mentality. If there has to be a HP night, then make it a one beer limit. I know it's unfair to those that can hold their booze and actually want to *gasp* watch the game, but not doing it will continue to bring the sludge out there with these intentions. I'm tired of this team getting reamed in the media. It gives all Sox fans a bad name and gives needless fodder to the media outlets that report this s*** with glee.

I heard Dave Wills say on the postgame show that could be the very case.

I am sick of the Mariners, Win Bitches

And we're out of 1st place. However, not for long.
