  1. No, I will not nod my head in agreement, dope. Yes, his fastball looked to be in the low '80s, his curve didn't have the 12-6 drop, & he was going away, away, away on just about every hitter. But I also realize this was his 1st start, and it would be incredibly stupid to judge him strictly on that. If his next 2 starts mirror this one, that would be different. Maybe I'm not as quick to judge like you are. I still think he can be a good pitcher.
  2. And again, you're basing all of this........ off of one start. :headshake
  3. 1) He's also in Double-A. 2) He's hurt.
  4. Not that I'm blaming him, but if Rowand isn't playing so shallow on Vidro's double, it's still a 3-1 game. These type of games happen. It's just a shame it came on this kid's ML debut.
  5. Why waste the pen? Let him try to gain some confidence out there.
  6. Not going to get completely judged by his 1st start? Yes, 10 runs is horrible and Munoz was throwing BP out there, but it's his 1st damn start for crying out loud. Maybe he just had a bad case of the nerves tonight. IIRC, Wilson Alvarez got shelled in his 1st career start for the Sox. Did they give up on him? No. His 2nd start: A no-hitter. I'm not gonna go on that limb and say that Munoz will do the same, but can we give them a fair shake for a change, instead of this "One and Done" crap. I have faith in Munoz, Diaz, hell even Rauch (though I doubt anyone else does). Someone from that group is gonna step up eventually.
  7. I feel bad for the kid. ML debut and you get shelled for 10 runs. Ouch.
  8. I hope Olivo is catching Munoz tonight and has a monster game to make Moneyball rendered a bit more useless.
  9. We'll see about that next weekend.
  10. Did you guys read the 1st post?
  11. Cubs currently lead 1-0 in the 3rd. They asked Mulder earlier growing up in South Holland if he was a Cubs or Sox fan? He said coming home from school the Cubs were always on so he would watch them, but that he was still a Sox fan growing up and would enjoy beating the Cubs (and every other team). Now if only he were pitching on the South Side, that would be sweet. Also, Chip made a comment in the 2nd inning when the Cubs had RISP, that they had a chance to "put a crooked number on the board." Looks like Chip listens to the Hawk as well.
  12. I hope Billy can rediscover his fastball and be a dominating closer again. Even if it's in another uniform. Good luck, Billy. B)
  13. The moment you click on Koch's player page at whitesox.com, it diverts you to marlins.com. Nice.
  14. Have you seen the Twinkies 2nd half schedule? They'll get a nice healthy dosage of Yankees, Angels, A's & Red Sox, especially in August.
  15. Florida didn't win it all last year for nothing. They're pitching staff is one of the best, if not the best in the majors. Sox just had one of those series where they couldn't get that crucial hit. Fortunately, this is June with a 1 1/2 deficit instead of September with the same deficit. Go get 'em in Montreal and come back to Chicago on a winning note.
  16. They showed it on the Jumbotron today at the game. The crowd went nuts. Good stuff.
  17. Between the Yankee fans flooding the ballot boxes for Giambi, and possibly, the BoSox doing the same for Ortiz, it's not likely. Though Frank is definitely a worthy and deserving candidate. As is Uribe, who not only should go, but should start. Ranger and Yankee fans are doing what they can to make sure Soriano goes. Fan voting= :puke
  18. "Off the wall"? Don't you mean "Off his head"?
  19. I agree it was a nice grab, but I agree with Flash. Chip Caray is treating it like Willie Mays vs the Indians in '54.
  20. Hate to give pub to a Cub player, but Hollandsworth just made a nice grab to rob Kotchman of extra bases.
  21. Cubs got a 5-4 lead in the top of the 11th (and also left the bags full), but with 2 outs and the tying run on 3rd, Vlad just lined a single to tie it up. 5-5 to the 12th.
  22. The only beef I had today was when Furcal homered in the 5th, some dopes in the bleachers were yelling "Throw it back". Fortunately, other fans starting yelling back, "This ain't Wrigley! Keep that s***!"
  23. Count me in too. That Thomas blast was a thing of beauty.
