I understand the poor playing conditions and not wanting anyone to get hurt that would hurt the Sox in the long run, but what really bothers me is the fact that yesterday was a day game that would be followed by a night game this evening. The last 3 innings could've been made up this afternoon. Again, a 6-7 run lead in the 8th inning would'nt have warranted a reason for continuing the game, but with 9 outs to go and only down 2 runs, who knows how that game would've turned out. It's only one loss, but the Sox at least deserved a shot to finish it out.

The first original thought Kotex Boy has will truly be his 1st.

Wow, Colon is now 5-8 after getting rocked by the Dodgers offense (now you know it's really bad when the Dodger O gets to you) last night. While the 2nd half hasn't started yet, do you think Colon will rebound for the Angels in the 2nd half like he did for the Sox. Or has the downward spiral started for him? If he continues to struggle, makes me think that KW and JR knew something that Anaheim didn't. It also makes me quite happy that they didn't give him "the richest contract for a pitcher in White Sox history".

Kotex boy knows all Sox fans hate his guts, so he's just going for broke now.

Why are we still talking about a player that was moved during the offseason? If they're gone, they're gone. What good will lamenting about it do? Time to move on.

Twins leading 6-1 in the 5th. Andrew Good was Bad. And 97 year old Terry Mulholland has only given up one run. Maybe the Big Unit can get them tomorrow. :headshake

Gotta love stupid, idiotic, clueless Scrubbie trolls. Well, actually you don't have to love them, but they're always good for a laugh.

Obviously, someone didn't watch this game from start to finish. Because if he did, he would've known that Jose won the game for the Sox the previous day. This incident which he mentions happened the following day. Before you call someone out for showboating, how about having your facts straight first? But then again, that wouldn't be the ESPN way, would it?
-
Yeah, he deserves another start. After that 1st inning, he settled down nicely and starting using his slider more. He seemed to gain more confidence in the next couple of innings. Would've loved to see him go longer, but with Frank being the tying run at the plate, you gotta go for it.

Yep, Wrigley sure is a shrine........ With a piss-poor drainage system. :fthecubs

This really pisses me off. Why couldnt' they just wait and see if the rain cleared up later. Tomorrow's game is a night game. If the rain was going to continue, then they could've played the other half of this game tomorrow at about 3 to finish it. The Cubs just got a f***ing gift win.

Just heard on the Score: Game called. Cubs win. :fyou

Nicely done, Cheat. On a side note, anyone notice from the week of July 18-24, the Sox face 4 different opponents (A's, Rangers, Indians, Tigers). How often does that happen.

What I find ironic in that commercial is they're playing music from the Blues Brother, a classic film made in Chicago, yet no players from either Chicago team appear in the commercial itself. Ooooooookay.

I dunno. Maybe it's the fact that Olivo will be missed, and I was really hoping to see what Reed could do for the Sox. Maybe it's because I still feel a little burned from the trade last year when we seemed to give up alot and get little in return (not KW's fault, more like Manuel's). Maybe it's because I don't want to see this become Colon: Part 2 regarding trying to re-sign a prized acquisition. Maybe I'm being a bit over-cautious this time around. But if Freddy Garcia turns out to be the missing piece in this club going all the way, maybe I'll remember yesterday as the day the season was forever changed. For now, I'll remain positive.........yet cautious.

Sierra just torched him for a 3 run bomb. 6-0 Yankees.

Big MO, your slam against the Cubbies last year will forever earn you a place in Sox lore. May you have a wonderful career in the Pacific Northwest for many, many years. It hurts to know that #8 won't be behind the plate anymore for the Southsiders. Cheers.

Good fundamental players growing up watching the Sox from the '80 and '90s. Nice.

Sox Lineup: 2B Harris CF Rowand DH Thomas LF Lee SS Valentin 1B Konerko RF Perez 3B Crede C Olivo P Loaiza Didn't hear the Cubs lineup, though I did hear that Walker is starting at 2B today and Bako is catching Maddux.

Personally, with Jones & Ortiz as part of this deal, I couldn't think of anyone they would want besides Mags. What I would question is, what would be the status of JD Drew? Would the Braves move him to CF? Or would they trust Mags to handle CF the rest of the way?
-
It all depends on what the home plate ump's (Dan Cooper, I think) strike zone is gonna be like. If he gives the corners today to the pitchers, we might be in for a tough afternoon since Maddux lives on the outer regions of the plate. What's gonna be interesting to see if the pitcher that gives up no walks can keep that going against the hitter leading the AL in walks. Of course, if Maddux wants to leave a mistake out over the middle of the plate, I'm pretty sure #35 will oblige him and put it in the left field stands.

Lawrence Holmes on the Score just said that KW did confirm the rumor that the Sox possibly acquiring Ortiz & Andruw Jones, but also said that Mags name hasn't been brought up as part of those rumors. Guess we're in the "wait and see" mode.

Speaking of division rivals, Affeldt strained his ribcage and could miss up to 6 weeks. However, considering that the Sox don't meet the Royals until August, he'll more than likely be back with them by then.
