  1. That was quite a shot. Alou didn't even bother to move.
  2. Yikes. The skies above Wrigley look rather menacing. Come on Mother Nature! Let it RAIN, RAIN, RAIN!
  3. Reds can't get any love from the dopes in Bristol. Kruk has them 4th in his NL Central rankings behind the Stros, Cards, and "Chosen Ones". Dopey Reynolds has them 2nd behind the Stros.
  4. I don't want "Expert Analysis", especially anything that Harold Reynolds has to say. But I would like to see my team get some national recognition once in a damn while, something they'll obviously never get on ESPN.
  5. Don't get me wrong. I'm not expecting blow-by-blow coverage like they do with NY/Bos or even Cubs/Cards, but a little mention of it would've been nice. You have 2 teams duking it out for 1st place in a 4 game series when both teams have been playing well. They just treated it like a regular game and moved on.
  6. They wait almost 45 minutes before they even get to the Sox-Twins game, then after showing parts of the 4th and 6th inning, they went into another segment. And for those that will reply "Until the Sox can beat a quality team/win a crucial series/warrant any type of pub type of stuff, consider this: They were playing 4 games in a place where it has been well-documented that they struggle to no end. Add the fact it was a battle between 1st & 2nd place teams both over .500 and I think a little bit of attention could be paid to it. Wrong. No mention that the Sox took 3/4. No mention that the Sox and Twins are now tied for 1st, and no mention that the Sox went 5-2 against division opponents. But please give me more of Gary Sheffield being Harold's "pick to click" or a complete breakdown of Manny Ramirez & David Ortiz and their respective swings. I'm just begging you. Winning an important series in a convincing fashion deserved a bit more press than what they got. The Sox played hard this road trip and deserved better. I'm through with ESPN. f*** 'em.
  7. It's cool. And yes, we do need a 5th starter. I still think Cotts can be that guy.
  8. The weather was crappy those 2 days as well. Not trying to toot my own horn about the weather thread I created last week but.......
  9. 2 on Monday 4 on Tuesday 15 on Wednesday 10 on Thursday 8 on Friday 1 on Saturday (Damn you Radke! :fyou ) 17 on Sunday I guess that's pretty good.
  10. FWIW, LeCroy's shot looked worst on the telecast than it actually was. It barely cleared the 2nd row (the guy who caught it was sprawled through the 1st row). Morneau's shot: Well, that was as bad as it looked. :headshake
  11. Whoops, win was supposed to be lose. :banghead
  12. Cardinals lose, and Woody Williams in a word: Bad. OT, but in the front row, there was a girl in a black tank top who literally spent the entire game on her cell phone. If she watched a single inning, I'd be very surprised. When they showed all the up-close replays, you see her head turned in every different direction but the field itself. It just shows further proof to me that some of their "fans" go to be seen, not for the game itself.
  13. Either MacDougal in in the minors because he isn't 100% healthy or last year was a fluke. Either way, guess they needed a little shakeup.
  14. If he wins tonight, I would say we have one. His name is Mark Buerhle.
  15. And I go back to an old post from a couple of months back: Hope you're enjoying the barbecue in KC, Sully.
  16. Nice article. It would be great if Anderson could make his way to Birmingham before this year is up. Who knows, maybe Sweeney could join him.
  17. From the Denver Post: I love Rotoworld's spin on it, though:
  18. Colon gave up 2 more runs and has since been yanked in favor of Ramon Ortiz. Mussina, on the other hand has held the Halos to a single run.
  19. Yes, I'll agree with everything you, Mortensen, and ESPN says. You have Chicago's best interests in mind.
  20. Definitely Eckersley. That guy defined automatic. It's a shame he'll be forever known as the guy who gave up the game winning home run to Gibson.
  21. See, a little decent weather today, and the bats respond again. I know it's only a minor portion of their success, but seeing how rain and cold weather kept the Sox scoring to 6 runs in 2 games, a little warmup can do something for those bats. Now with that being said, I hope the Sox do everything they can to disprove this theory the next 4 days in that hellhole called the Metrodome.
