Just homered off of Matt Kinney.

Opening Day for the Cubs
Only Cub fans would get giddy with someone else besides Shammy getting a hit.

Opening Day for the Cubs
12-2. As one Jackie Gleason put it: "How sweet it is".

Opening Day for the Cubs
Damnit, they got another hit. Well my day's been ruined.

Opening Day for the Cubs
I know Atlanta got pasted today, but I hope Juan Cruz had a chance to watch the Cubbie game from the Shea Stadium clubhouse. Because the guy he was traded for just got booed off the field after not being able to throw a strike.

Opening Day for the Cubs
Ahhhh.....fans leaving after the 7th. Another in the long, classic lines of Wrigley tradition.

Opening Day for the Cubs
Mike Kiley's column tomorrow in the Cub-Times: MADDUX EFFICIENT IN RETURN TO WRIGLEY Never mind the 5 walks in 3 2/3 of an inning. His pitches were close enough to the strikeout to warrant positive things down the road.

Could Mark Prior possibly need TJS:
Chip Caray reported that in regards to the rumor, that he spoke to Jim Hendry and was told the rumor was absolutely false, and that in Chip's words, that his tendon was strong as a tree-trunk. Which means........... In the next 6 weeks, we'll see a Cubbie press conference announcing that Prior will be out the next 18 months with Tommy John surgery. If they were so confident about Prior, then they wouldn't have taken the time to address a "silly little rumor".

And Pittsburgh is trying to gift-wrap those runs back to them. :banghead

I'm not a big fan of ESPN:
They did it again...... I watched Baseball Tonight yesterday waiting to see how they would break down the Sox-Yankees game which the Sox won and where Buerhle looked brilliant. I swear if that "highlight" took less than 15 seconds, I probably sneezed and missed it. They showed Mags home run and ARod striking out and showed the final score. Then they went into a 3 minute discussion between the 2 Matsuis in New York. So......on to today. They spent a good 3 minutes breaking down today's loss and was heaping gobs of praise on Mussina and their new savior **Bubba Crosby**. And Mr. Crosby got plenty of praise from "Light Bat" Reynolds. Yet for Buerhle's well-documented 1st appearance in Yankee Stadium, nada. It's one thing for them to get giddy in reporting KC's victory over the 'pen on Monday, or Vazquez's debut win on Thursday, but to not report either victory on the Sox by these tools is reprehensible. So once again I say with clarity....... I HATE ESPN! :fyou

Billy Koch quote on his error in the 9th inning:
This squad has done more laughing and joking around in 6 weeks than they did in 6 years under Manuel's watch. Good times, good times.

Could Mark Prior possibly need TJS:
This was from the New Jersey Star Ledger today: This is shaping up to be 1984 for them all over again.

Billy Koch quote on his error in the 9th inning:
Chill, Nuke. I think he was joking around. Don't take it so serious. Save that pent up anger for the next column by Mariotti.

Mark Buehrle
flippedoutpunk, your avatar is f***ing hillarious!!!

Billy Koch quote on his error in the 9th inning:
Billy, Billy, Billy. Silly closer you.

Mariners drop another one.
I'd like to pay those bastards back for the 2000 ALDS and every subsequent year after that. If they're on the down side, good.

Rotoworld's take on Felix Diaz & Jon Rauch:
Cotts has pitched in exactly 1 game for 1 inning and they're ready to relegate him to full time bullpen duty? Not likely. Though it's great to see that in case DWright or Shoney slip up, there might be 2 available options in Charlotte to go with Cotts in the 'pen.
