  1. Getting a deal done for a bat would be a nice shot in the arm after tonight.
  2. The key is to just get back on the horse tomorrow.
  3. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 05:59 PM) we are trying to do too much with these knuckleballs Yeah, to be honest, this is about the worst thing we could be facing right now.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 05:14 PM) What happened? Sale get hurt or something? Got drilled by a line drive right in the leg. Seems to be alright.
  5. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 04:28 PM) While I won't trade Anderson/Montas for anything I really think it would be wise for us to trade at least Anderson for a impact, long term bat. I have zero faith in him being an everyday player in the bigs. Well I wouldn't target Longoria as an impact, long-term bat at this stage of his career. I've been wrong plenty though.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 04:00 PM) Seasons playing less than 140 games in last 5: Longoria: 1 Cargo: 4 No Coors Field effect to worry about Money owed: Longoria, $110 million/7 years Gonzalez: $37 million/2 years Fair enough, but he's really fallen off recently. I suppose he still has value given his contract, but not nearly what he once had. His defense has fallen off, his offense has fallen off in 3 of the past 4 years. Given this trend, and the mileage on him, I wouldn't be surprised to see him battle injuries and continue a general decline over the next several years. Does he have value? Yes...but is the disparity THAT large? And worth THOSE types of packages? Not to me.
  7. Yikes. I must say I am a bit confused about the dislike for CarGo but the love for Longoria. Longoria has not been the stud he once was for the last few years. The packages suggested above seem really rich for my blood. Also, the Rays are in a competitive position still. Not sure they would move Longoria for players that aren't mlb-ready at this point.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 12:42 PM) Is cespedes good at defense? Man, i'd love love love that power. No, but he's got a great arm.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:40 AM) Pretty crazy. Toronto adds Price and Tulo. They obviously paid a steep price, but if you think in terms of pure talent, those are two significant talents. This merely puts the Blue Jays in a better position to compete with the White Sox.
  10. Incredible how quiet things are around 35th and Shields.
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 08:08 PM) So why was Flores crying... what He apparently thought he was traded. Was listening to the radio feed and even the announcers thought the deal was done when he came to the plate.
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 06:30 PM) Upton and Ross pulled. Nightengale saying it's Kemp that was pulled.
  13. So Kenny and Rick have GOT to be working the hell out of the phones right now, yes? I mean is there even a question as to what our course of action is at this point? Tyler trying to get someone beaned now.
  14. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 11:25 AM) Montas is ranked just slightly lower than Hoffman on the MLB top 100 prospect list and Cargo is far less valuable than Tulo. Let's revisit that in about 3 years...
  15. I think if you trade Jeff at this point you risk messing with their mojo...
  16. QUOTE (Special K @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 08:31 PM) I forgot to mention my scenario had Colorado taking on some Of that scratch. My guess is if the White Sox were interested in Reyes, a 3-way deal would have occurred. Should have been a lot of talk between the Jays and Sox recently.
  17. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 07:23 PM) Care to elaborate? Nightengale, going back to Ozzie's days as manager, has always had the scoop on the White Sox. Given that he's a USA Today national reporter, it seems pretty strange that he always manages to know what folks who should be much closer to our team should know first. Pretty clear that we leak things to him to get things we want into the media.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 07:22 PM) I thought that was Rick Hahn Rick is his rook.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 07:18 PM) Yep, nothing official but sounds like he's staying. He's basically Kenny's pawn.
  20. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 07:06 PM) Yes this team has 5% chance at best at making the playoffs sub .500 on July 28th. And we've now won 6 in a row, so who gives a f***.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 07:04 PM) Not a fan of bringing in the worst reliever to face a lefty when they hit over .300 vs him Robin just doesn't seem to care. He did this against KC too.
  22. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 06:58 PM) They didn't whip the Sox. The Sox were 2 feet away from splitting with KC and they split the season series with STL so stop that crap. We've actually got a pretty decent record against teams over .500 anyways, don't we?
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 06:54 PM) Great point I'm really not sure Robin thinks about stuff like that.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 06:53 PM) And what happens if they win their next 4 games after today and then E. Johnson starts (cause Samardzija's traded) and gives up 8 runs? This team was built to win this year, and they're playing their best ball of the season. Might as well see how it goes. Unless they want to add a bat for this year.
