  1. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jan 18, 2013 -> 05:47 PM) Which explains why Teo lied, but you idiots keep thinking that Teo is a scumbag for lying and milking it for sympathy. As far as Teo knows he dated a girl for a year she died and the media picked up on it. Of course he's not going to say he only knew her online because he knew everyone would think he was a loser. This explains the contradictions in all his stories. P Then he finds out that he was duped before the NCG, what's he supposed to do tell the media that no that never happened I was tricked and create this huge media fire storm before the national championship game? No you f***ing play along and hope it goes away after the game. It's pretty clear now that Teo was duped and its clear why he lied to the media(so as to not look like a loser at first, and then after finding out to avoid a media firestorm that would distract the team from the national championship) Take off the anti Notre dame glasses and see this is the only way the story makes sense. Every other explanation has at least 1 part that doesn't make sense except this one. I was with you guys the other night I thought manti was scum and a liar, but it's clear now he got conned and I feel bad for him for that and how the public views him now. Oh, so now we are the idiots...gotcha.
  2. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jan 18, 2013 -> 02:48 PM) Rock, I think I understand. Did T'eo ever bring this up to the media or just answer questions when asked? If that's the case, he either had to go along with it or admit he was a dumb ass. Perhaps he could have replied something to the effect "let's just say it has been a very tough year and I'd prefer to talk about football and the upcoming game at this point"? But how many young people are media savvy enough to come up with that? I think once the story was out and he found out he was duped, he felt he had to go along. Has he done any in-depth interviews on the subject between the time he found out and now? Could he have been playing along in hopes to more easily find out what happened? Or was this an asked and answered type situation and he didn't know what else to say? My guess is he wasn't walking up to reporters on media day and saying "Hey, interview me, I'd like to talk about the dead people in my life". I don't have the answers, but I can certainly understand the why to your question. Right, but when you start building on the media attention by telling taller and taller tales, you are clearly adding to the frenzy...it isn't as though they were dragging info out of him...he was just making up more and more ridiculous details with each interview.
  3. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 09:18 PM) I think the Bears fans were lied to, Mgmt said that money wouldn't be a issue with the new hire. The Bears hired a guy that the Browns didn't even want. I think the Bears got the worst hire out of all the new HC. It's obviously a big risk, but I don't think it has anything to do with them not being able to hire who they wanted. They got who they wanted.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 07:34 PM) http://www.buzzfeed.com/jpmoore/the-11-fis...tember?s=mobile Hah, just ridiculous...my favorite is the story about the doctor...
  5. That's a really, really solid hire for the Cardinals...
  6. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 06:39 PM) My point was more that on the anniversary of their first "date," they presumably went on an actual date, which would be more likely to occur on a non-football Saturday. That, and the meeting with her that he spoke of at the USC game the year before (in November 2010) makes at least two in person contacts he's acknowledged on the record. He said they were acquaintenaces then friends before that (for a total of four years), which could suggest more meetings. However, Swarbrick said yesterday that their relationship was excludively an on-line one, so somebody is lying or seriously mistaken. They're all making it up as they go, and have been for quite some time.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 04:44 PM) I honestly don't think he was in on the con, but I think he completely embellished the story as time went on. The unnamed ND player's comments seem to support this. That much has got to be true. I mean we know for certain he did at least that. But he went WAAAYYY out of his way to embellish it...and that is what pisses me off. For everyone saying that no one should be upset or care about this...I don't know if my emotions in regards to this rise quite to the level of "anger" or that I "am upset," but the stuff he "claims" happened to his "girlfriend" actually does and did happen to real people. I don't think it is right to make up all this crap and claim he went through all this, for the sake of publicity or some gain from the publicity he enjoyed from it, when actual people actually have and continue to go through these tragedies. It belittles their experiences and their hardships.
  8. He claims to not know what her injuries were from the car accident? When someone close to you gets into a bad accident of some kind, you tend to know exactly what all the injuries were. They accepted her into the hospital after a car accident with a "drunk driver" and failed to run any blood tests? The Doctor came in right before they "pulled the plug" and "saw something" and decided on a new treatment? This is just absolutely ridiculous.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 04:24 PM) SI: I can call Stanford and check. They have to have some record or note that she passed. Bet he wishes he would have done that now He did...they had nothing and found it to be very odd that they didn't know who the girl on campus was that was dating Te'O.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 03:57 PM) http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-f...nd-hoax-quotes/ Jeesh, that makes me want to vomit. How did anyone ever believe this nonsense.
  11. Yeah, I'm not buying that, but I have been wrong before.
  12. Apparently Waddle thinks Gregg (sp) Williams would be perfect if his suspension gets lifted.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 01:44 PM) If ESPN had this...the fact that someone else was on it would be motivation for them to get going and get it out there. The thing Deadspin seems to have that no one else had was the identity of the person whose photos were being shown on air. If they could find it, then ESPN should have been able to beat them to the punch on it by doing the same work. Once you have that person's ID, you check their background, see if there's any chance they were in on it by seeing if they've traveled to Hawai'i recently or something like that...and then you have your story. Deadspin also has the balls to report stories like this first...they are much more aggressive and have a higher risk tolerance because they are trying to establish a certain identity as an entity. They have a lot less to lose by breaking this story than ESPN does.
  14. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 11:58 AM) Thats just not true. There are plenty of coaches that want an opportunity. Im sure there were plenty of people that wanted to work for the Bears when Martz was brought in. The bears just thought Martz would do well. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/news/story?id=4877772 The Bears had plenty of choices, they just took the wrong guy, per usual. This remains to be seen.
  15. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 11:54 AM) @BradBiggs The guess here is Marc Trestman could bring Pat Meyer, an OC for Alouettes, and RB coach Andy Bischoff with him to #Bears staff. @BradBiggs Also, one source told me Argonauts head coach Scott Milanovich, former Maryland QB, could possibly join #Bears staff. Ugh, I don't really like this idea...
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 10:22 AM) It seems quite obvious they weren't dating until late 2011. If this is a scam that has been attempted on others, it's possible he could have encountered her before the scam was on him. I would need to look at his statement again, but I thought he left the wording just vague enough that he could have had some amount of in person contact with an impostor despite most of their interactions occurring online. He said they weren't a couple until early 2012 I believe.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 09:37 AM) For 3 years mind you. Talking on the phone over 2 hours per day every day. That would be the mod dedicated scam artist ever. It just makes you wonder how many of the details like this were embellished for the media, and now they are just ashamed to admit it. They are all just digging themselves a deeper, and deeper hole.
  18. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 10:43 PM) Where did you see this? I believe it was stated on the Boers & Bernstein show. Not sure what their source was.
  19. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 11:41 PM) Also, ESPN should be ashamed of themselves. They had this for 10 days and did nothing, they just wanted to protect a narrative. I'm not in the journalism business, but from what I understand, this sort of thing happens much more than you'd realize.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 11:39 PM) Um the dead gf tweeted. Yes! This is when s*** really gets fun!
  21. QUOTE (G&T @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 09:47 PM) Not really. The normal thing to do is hire a girl or two to be seen with him out together. This concoction requires a fairly twisted person to con a lot of people. I agree...and he wouldn't have had to hire one...I am sure he could have had plenty of suitors. Especially considering his sexuality wasn't anything that was much of a conversation, as far as I am aware of.
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 09:46 PM) I've seen in more than a few places that this is a precursor to him coming out of the closet. Yep, was discussed here a bit too.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 08:38 PM) http://articles.southbendtribune.com/2012-...rish-head-coach Manti is either lying today or was lying then. I think we all know this. No one is really disputing it other than HH, who apparently will do anything to protect his beloved ND and their players.
  24. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 09:00 PM) Was there even a game ball???? I saw the video earlier
  25. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jan 16, 2013 -> 07:58 PM) When did we as a society become TMZ? Who gives a s*** if some kid in college is diddling an imaginary friend? The kid probably has mental/emotional problems. He allowed the story to become known and then perpetuated and celebrated it. It's not like we've never heard of this woman before today and now we're all just laughing at him.
