QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 12:27 PM) That has everything to do with your shipper (fedex/ups) not following Apples instructions of not delivering until they say, not location. More often than not, you're device will be at the local carrier on hold for a few days when they ship them. My iPad3 was held at the local facility for days before they delivered it to me. Some of the shippers simply don't care. Yeah, I did notice my iPads have been held for a few days, but still delivered early.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 01:14 PM) Oh, the new phone ships next week. Pre orders on the 14th. Ships on the 21st. If I order things on the first pre-order day, I usually get it a day earlier than launch even...I dunno if that is related to me being on the west coast or not...

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 12:50 PM) I've had every version of the iPhone since the original. I've always had great battery life...there are probably some options you have enabled that should be disabled. Yeah, I agree...the only times I really burn through it is when I am texting continuously throughout s***ty Sox games like last night

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 12:45 PM) lol Shack, I thought you were a dedicated Apple follower. It's right now. I'm wondering what's in this new A6 chip. Probably a slightly underclocked Exynos dual core. I doubt a quad core can get 8 hours on LTE. That estimate sounds a bit generous. I've been in meetings the last hour and a half

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 12:43 PM) It's already occurring. iPhone5 is 4", better quality screen, 3 mics for noise cancelation, 20% lighter and 18% thinner than the 4S. Uses an A6 chip, 2x faster/2x faster gfx than iPhone4s. LTE. Same talk time with 3G or LTE (8 Hours). Etc...etc... Yeah, I am just catching up. Thanks for the summary!

What time is the announcement?

Ack...can you please get rid of this? I'm kind of against cruelty to actual animals.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 11:04 AM) Oh, and no matter what happens tonight, I have to give Gavin some major props for showing huge balls to return so quickly from his elbow soreness. With his contract possibly up after the season, he could have easily sat out the rest of the year. I may not watch tonight. I don't know if I can deal with Gavin walking 7 hitters in the first two innings combined with our hitters waving at Scherzer's slider a foot and a half off the plate.

Mr. Ventura, the managerial decisions you made last night were some of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever seen. At no point in your ridiculous, incoherent thought process were you even close to anything that could be considered rational managerial moves. Everyone at the game or watching the game is now dumber for having seen it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 10:31 AM) Because Youk hasn't hit worth a lick against DET, or lately in general. And as you point out, the element of surprise was apparently effective, if Youk had gotten it down. If Youk can in fact bunt (again, I don't know this for sure), then I think it was a smart move. All we can go off of is the fact that he has never done it. As much as Hawk throws out some incredibly inconsistent sayings, the one about don't put players in a position to fail is probably the most accurate one of them all. Robin was trying to have Tom Berenger lay down the bunt there and it backfired miserably, right when we had all the momentum in our favor.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 10:38 AM) Robin admitted after the game he was playing for the tie that inning. Which is incredible, considering how well we have been executing with runners in scoring position over the past 3 weeks.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 10:25 AM) He may not know how, that I do not know. You'd think all these guys would know how - hell I remember Thome used to bunt once or twice a year. As for squaring around, if he was blatant before the pitch was even thrown, then that is just poor execution on Youk's part. I am talking about RV's decision here. Maybe a good idea, because... I wouldn't be against that. But then you also degrade your defense for the later innings. Youkilis has ABSOLUTELY NO RANGE right now. He hasn't made any above-average plays in a month. The only thing I can say is if we would have brought Orlando in there, they would have been on top of the plate, he probably would have bunted anyways, and they would have turned and gunned the guy out at third, per usual White Sox execution. Even when Youk squared around the first time, MCab didn't believe it...he didn't come in at all...that's why I thought maybe Youk was doing it on his own. But we had three straight hits. Why oh why oh why are you going to give the guy an out there, down two runs?

In the spirit of Robin's decision-making abilities tonight, I think we should start Jose Quintana again tomorrow.

GT: Sox vs. Tigers...The Final Countdown Continues

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 11:48 PM) Not sure why people are complaining about Peavy's performance. 3 runs against this Tigers offense is pretty damn good. His performance tonight doesn't rank in the top 10 list of things to complain about tonight. I agree...Peavy gave up a homer to one of the best hitters in all of baseball history, and to Austin Jackson, who's having a pretty nice run against every one of our pitchers this year. It happens. What doesn't need to happen is putting players in position to do things they can't, or putting them in situations where they are not likely to succeed. He did that twice tonight, in huge, high-leverage situations, while clearly better options were available to him. That to me is far more inexcusable than Jake giving up a couple home runs. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 10:44 PM) One thing's for sure, if Floyd gets rocked early...we go to Axelrod and THEN possibly Humber if it's a COMPLETE ROUT of 6+ runs or more down, but we definitely can't sacrifice 5-6-7 relievers coming into Thursday in a game where Sale might not get past 5 or 6. The hell with that. I'd put Liriano in and make him pitch -
I would have been much less angry had we lost 3-2...then we gave them the game on a platter... I've never been this angry about the decisions of a coach or manager at any level of sports, even ones I was personally involved in.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:41 PM) RV says it was his decision (and I fully agree with you, a stupid decision). And I think not using Liriano has more to do with Floyd's track record vs. Detroit then Liriano. Albeit, Liriano clearly isn't a front of the rotation pitcher and should not ever be confused for one given his s*** command. It still may have been. Who knows if Robin is jumping on the grenade or not. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 10:34 PM) That is a problem, but some of you are acting like it was the dumbest thing ever to bunt. The truth was, it was dumb to have a guy that doesn't bunt bunt (and many of you made that same argument, just not all). O-Dog should have been out there. All that said, I still don't know RV made that decision. And I still find it pathetic that MLB players don't practice the bunt. Whether you do it in the game or not, it should be practiced all the time. That is beside the point! He asked a guy that has basically never bunted to bunt, instead of just bringing in Hudson. Now I'm sure he wanted the element of surprise and all, but that is simply not worth asking someone who will fail to get the job done. You cannot explain that decision, which is why I'm praying for our sake it was Youk's. Inserting Liriano in that situation when you don't even trust him enough to start tomorrow is absolutely ludicrous. If you don't trust him to start, you don't trust him in that situation, for damn sure. He's struggled out of the gate in his last several starts. Why would this be any different? -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 10:33 PM) You are like Dr. Jeckyll n Mister Hyde. How can you tell me to go away for negative comments then you hit on that so much the final few innings? You are even more negative than me. Sox refuse to be bad sports. It's sportsmanship, u know? What a joke. Bunt the f***ing ball at him!!! Because I don't mind losing because we get beat on the field. Peavy got beat by two great hitters. What I don't find acceptable is when the manager makes absolutely inexplicable decisions. There is absolutely no defending Ventura tonight. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 10:29 PM) Liriano is there to get outs. Just cause he starts doesn't mean he can't come out of the pen. He's a power pitcher with a hard slider. He sucked, blame him, not Robin. I realize they lost and I'm pissed about the loss, but I had zero problem with the bunt decision (other then Hudson should have been the one doing it). And I think they should have had Dan Johnson in. However, all of that is a moot point since some of you are acting like it was the dumbest thing ever to use Liriano. It isn't like we are talking about some scrub that never pitches. The dude is in our rotation and is paid to get guys out. He's handled pressure situations plenty of times, he just wet the bed, plain and simple. Seriously? You have zero problem with it except Hudson should have been doing it? That's like saying you have no problem having sex with a man, except you'd prefer it to be with a woman... -
