  1. Hopefully next inning won't be too early to bring in Veal against Fielder.
  2. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 17, 2012 -> 03:00 PM) First it was the blown call at first, but yeah, the second was the inside slider to Cabrera. Farmer is harping on how bad an idea it was not to stay away. So is AJ calling the pitches, or is it Parent? Because Farmer and DJ seem to think it is AJ.
  3. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 17, 2012 -> 09:11 AM) Cracks me up. Mustaches have been en vogue many times. Just because now they aren't somehow having one is creepy/douchy ? Actually, they are back en vogue.
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 16, 2012 -> 09:21 PM) To clarify things, that would be the winnings in my survivor pool, if I had actually won it all. So POTENTIALLY that kick cost me $5500, but unlikely. Regardless, I am going to write down my pick each week just for "fun" to see how far I would have made it had he not choked away the kick. Usually when you get taken down in week 2 you probably shouldn't be counting on winning...
  5. Phew...sweating that one out with SF -7 and under 46.5!
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 01:06 AM) I'll get over it eventually, but I live in a s***ty neighborhood and most of the friends I had from my hood have done nothing with their lives and I don't really have the desire to be around them. Plus, working 14+ hours a day all summer limited any time I had for social gatherings. It's odd, because I was sad when I left school and was in a rut but I got over it after a couple months and started working. Then it turned out that I was miserable at my job in which I worked way too much, so it just piled on top. I move to Rockford tomorrow, so I'm hoping for a fresh start. I moved out to Vegas 4+ years ago and knew exactly 2 people. And I didn't really know them, I had just played fantasy baseball with them and bulls***ted on the computer with them (not much different than this). When I actually showed up in Vegas, I had never physically met them before, so I guess I didn't really "know" anyone. It took awhile and I definitely took some lumps, but you'll settle in to your new environment eventually. One thing I did was date. I joined match.com and that helped me meet a lot of new women...then I started meeting guys at work and playing hoops or football with them on the weekend, and going out in the evenings. I still don't really know many guys out here that I did not meet through work. But you'll find that when you make friendships with people from work, or even with people through an internet site, such as match or meetup.com or something, that you will then meet some of their friends as well. It sort of branches out and builds from there. The best thing you can do is keep yourself busy...I know you'll be busy with work, and I know you like to workout, so start with those things. Then do like HH or Jake said and find hobbies or activities you enjoy and fall back on those when you have nothing to do. Things will get better. You're at a major transitional point in your life and so of course you are having a bit of a hard time adjusting. But keep busy and reach out to others and you'll be surprised at what you find.
  7. It would be hilarious if we came full-circle and ended up with Hector again...
  8. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 06:11 PM) Last night? Where you at? He's in Thailand or China...
  9. I alternate between clean shaven and wearing a beard from time to time...then usually shave the beard after a few weeks. This week as I was shaving it, I left a mustache, with the same intentions...and it looked far too creepy...plus, I live in Vegas...so I would just appear to be a creep
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 09:29 AM) Say this again, Dayan finally had some solid AB's yesterday. I hope Dayan is benched when Dunn returns.

QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 09:40 AM) Hopefully you get some good news soon! Went suit shopping yesterday. Bought two at Men's Wearhouse since they have a sale (they always have a "sale") but that left a dent in the credit card. I love the suits though. Good for you...will be anxious to hear about the new gig... BTW, how are you liking Madison?
  12. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 01:28 PM) Esmerelda is the name of a cat in some cartoon. Are you sure you're not thinking of Azrael, Gargamel's cat from The Smurfs?
  13. The bigger question is what the hell did Marlins' Ownership think they were getting when they hired him?
  14. Pre-ordering has been shut down for about an hour and a half now. Jeesh.
  15. Ordered one for my stepdad, who has been mysteriously obsessing over this phone for like two months, despite really knowing nothing about cell phones. I could have probably ordered the 5 for myself and gotten the free 4 for him and he would have had no idea I held off due to some other expenses this month and an upcoming bachelor party here for my best friend. Everyone weep for me
  16. We seem incapable of making in-game adjustments. Basically, what you see in the first quarter or quarter and a half is what you're going to see all game. I find that supremely frustrating.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 11:01 PM) Unfortunately, he gave up in the 2nd half. Literally gave up. It is the one problem I have with him. He lets his attitude get in the way and as a result he makes stupid mistakes. I don't know if Tice will be able to get through to him the way Martz could (even though it pissed him off and led to him getting fired). Cutler basically had 1 awful pick today. The rest of the time, I really didn't care. He had another 2 that could have been picked though and held onto the ball way too long late in the game. Agreed. Shame on Mike Tice for not being more prepared for Clay Matthews. They have ONE pass rusher worth a s*** and you couldn't have had more protection schemes devised to block him? You don't roll Jay out of the pocket at all? Will he ever learn?
  18. That's great! Now please receive an award for excellence in winning the Central Division!
  19. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 10:01 AM) If you use Liriano in a 3-2 game in the 8th on Tuesday you come back with him yesterday. Either you have a plan or you don't. I am starting to think they are making things up as they go along. This goes for the line-up, pinch hitting and the bullpen usage. Using the AAA pitchers to then go to the veterans is asinine. Of course they are making things up as they go along...and that does happen in big series or big games...I don't have a problem with it....but what they don't appear to have is any appreciation for data or any appreciation for when the game is on the line and when it is not.
  20. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 09:19 AM) I'm surprised he even came up with an answer like that other than saying, "I messed up". He's been on tilt since Peavy gave up the runs in the 6th on Tuesday night.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 11:42 PM) So Ventura said he didn't use Veal in the 7th to face Fielder because he felt it was too early and that Prince had seen Veal too much this series. I guess he had no problem allowing Cabrera to face Omogrosso for the second time in this series? There's no reason to save Veal for later in a game if you still have Thornton lurking as well. I'm sorry, but that is the most ridiculous logic I have ever heard. You utilize your best resources in the most high-leverage situations. You do not anticipate more high-leverage situations potentially happening later when it is already the 7th inning. We were already down 3-1. I could POTENTIALLY buy some of that logic if you are tied or you have the lead, but you are already losing, you cannot afford to go down further at that point, considering the way the offense has been performing recently. I don't care if Veal has faced Fielder twice already this series. Lefties are 0-20 against him this year. You don't fix what's not broken when you're already losing 3-1. I just don't understand how you can devote your entire adult life to this game and not have a better understanding of it than this. It isn't often that I presume to understand more than the professionals, but this is yet another decision of his that is absolutely inexplicable. I can only wonder what was going through Kenny's mind over the last two ballgames.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 05:08 PM) Guys not used to bunting usually expand their strikezones to get a bunt down. You can say he would have swung at it and hit a home run, I think its more likely he would have taken it for strike 2. While I disagree with Ventura having him bunt, its not like Youkilis is on a roll or anything. The pitch was borderline anyway, one Stone said could have been called either way. Chances are with the way he's been going if he swung at it, he wouldn't have hit it fair and if he did, not very hard. Youk was 3 for his last 33 coming into that AB. Maybe if you wanted to bunt him you could have just put in someone who could actually do it?
