  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:47 PM) How does that make sense. He hasn't had a full season in years and we are riding him into the ground. I'm amazed his agent hasn't griped. Its a tribute to the type of gutsy player he is, but its also stupid and if I were his agent I'd be pissed cause the Sox are really pushing him in a contract year. I know the Brewers did it with CC, but there is a lot of money at stake (plus I happen to want a productive Peavy down the stretch and the more we do this, the more I wonder how fresh he'll really be). And if he's not effective/productive as our veteran leader, this team is in trouble. His agent? The dude won't come out of f***ing games.
  2. Myers isn't going to start for us this year. I'd let him come in to get Willingham though and then replace him.
  3. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:43 PM) He also owned A-Gon. Look how that worked out. Well that's some silly reasoning.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:42 PM) Matt Thornton and 9th inning are like oil and water. Where have you been? He owns Morneau.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:41 PM) You'd rather have Thornton finish the game than Reed? Morneau is 4-27 against Matt lifetime. If we get the first two guys, I'd take my chances with him against Doumit.
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:39 PM) PLEASE NO. WHY?
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:39 PM) Addison has to be able to go back-to-back days. I don't trust Reed.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:38 PM) If he wasn't at 114 pitches, I would agree. That being said, I think the error by Youk was a blessing in disguise. I'm happy Reed doesn't ahve to face Maue rnow. Yeah, start the inning with Myers and then go with Matt against Morneau.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:37 PM) If he was at 100 pitches, I would have been okay with this. But he's at 114. Maybe Myers to face Willingham and Thornton to face Morneau and Doumit.
  10. I'd almost rather let Jake try and finish then see Reed in the 9th.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:17 PM) Except Gavin Floyd has not put up an ERA above 4.37 since 2007, whereas Liriano has had an ERA over 5 for three of the last four seasons. And that's with Floyd pitching in the Cell. This ought to tell you something about how much worse Liriano has been than Floyd. And it's a great illustration of why I'm skeptical of the "Sign Liriano" movement. The difference is Liriano is the prototypical guy that Cooper has been able to make a difference with, which Floyd has been here for 5 seasons with Coop now. This is why I specifically mentioned that I wanted to see what the effect of Cooper's tweaks would be before signing him.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 09:36 AM) Would you give a guy with an ERA > 5 for 3 of the last 4 seasons a 3/$30 contract? What money are we talking here? I'd like to see what effect Coop's adjustments might have on him first.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 07:34 AM) He twisted his ankle. That is the only reason he looked strange on that play. He has made that play a million times, and he knows how to handle it. I'm referring to the play with the bases loaded and 1 out.
  14. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 12:37 AM) Have the beach volleyball on in the background right now. I had no idea feet "freezing" was a gigantic issue. Hot water tubs, etc. It's been the commentary for about 50% of the entire match. I'm just disappointed I don't get to see more bikinis.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 09:03 AM) I won't be donating to either campaign. You can donate to my campaign if you'd like.
  16. Have any of you guys made any donations to the Obama campaign? I made a very small donation a few weeks ago and so now I am on his donor list or whatever. The emails I get every day are quite entertaining.
  17. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 08:49 AM) Okay that's Greg's response. What about everyone else? I would have been disappointed it was only 2.5 games...
  18. Just got a 4S for work and am holding out til Sept to get the 5 to replace my beat-up 4. Perfect timing.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 11:54 PM) Wow. Another pitcher bites the dust. Thanks for some good memories in a Sox uniform, John Danks. I don't expect we'll be seeing him excel on the mound again. But he had some good moments while it all lasted. You are so overdramatic.
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:33 PM) Did they look at the radar? How long were they supposed to wait? I think they had to make a decision by midnight.
  21. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:26 PM) Gordon Edes ‏@GordonEdes Tigers are furious this one was called and let the commissioner's office know Maybe if Verlander didn't use 194763947394639 pitches to get through 5 you wouldn't have gotten delayed with the bases loaded in the 6th...
  22. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:26 PM) doubt it, beat writers would be all over that by now. Our beat writers? You sure about that?
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:16 PM) Reed in the month of July (prior to today's game): WHIP is 1, ERA is 3.75, strikeouts to 9 is 5.6. Not sure what people's expectations are, but that isn't terrible. I realize he isn't pitching like Mariano but as a whole solid numbers (k/9 is a little low). But as a whole he is average a k per 9. Since the break, baa is .286. I'd just like to see him be a bit more dominant than that.
  24. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:07 PM) This is because of the problem I stated earlier. The imaging doesn't always show the exact problem, it shows signs of the problem ie. fluid where it shouldn't be. There are so many structures involved in making the shoulder work that it is very difficult to tell what is going on. The bright side of this is that usually something major such as a rotator cuff tear is visible during these common imaging techniques. The fact that they can't find it could be a good sign. It means there is no major structural damage. Unless they aren't telling us something. I think he will be ready to throw by Spring training. These exploratories usually wind up a the general "looseness" as I stated earlier. If they find major structural damage it could be different. If it's not structural, the 7 months until Spring training should be sufficient. So what will they do if they open him up and find absolutely nothing wrong? Will they fix something anyway just to make everyone feel better?
