QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 07:05 PM) I'm pretty sure "flu like symptoms" translates to "hang over" 81% of the time. This time they're being honest...half the team has had it recently -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) i am so excited to go to the game tonite. First time in 12 years(yes, you read that right. 12) that i have been to a game at the Cell. The last time I went, Cal Eldred started against the indians, and the Sox won 5-3 behind Thomas and Valentin homers. And some people might remember this: Jim Thome was up to bat for the Indians, and he hit a pop up around third a mile high. Herbert Perry ran to make the catch and tripped and fell flat on his face, and the ball fell foul. Jim Thome hit the next pitch 3/4 the way up the former hideous blue hitters backdrop. By far the longest homerun i have ever seen in person I remember a very similar thing happening to Joe Crede dropping a Manny Ramirez foul ball and then Manny depositing the next pitch into the stratosphere. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 08:54 AM) Ironic that this thread has gotten hot right when things have gone bad for many dogs around here. My gf's parents just put theirs down because of agressive cancer, my aunt had to put theirs down because of cancer and now my 11 year old rotty that I've had since college is having some bladder issues and the doc doesnt think there is much they can do. My dog has had a very long and good life compared to what it could of been when I rescued him from certain death when he was 3 weeks old but its still sad just thinking back on all the memories I've had with him. I'm sorry to hear that Rock...my parents just recently found out one of their Wolfhounds has cancer as well. Losing a pet is always a difficult thing. My thoughts are with you, buddy.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 11:45 PM) A close friend of mine works for an architect firm...and from what he tells me...it's one of the worst professions you could be relying on right now. How true that actually is, I don't know...but judging by the real estate market, including corporate...I don't doubt his word. Well you need to be able to build s***...right now, no one is building s***. I would think the architects making the most money are the ones who are fairly adept at all the new green building techniques and materials. So not only would you have to learn all the basics of architecture, but then learn all that stuff as well. That being said, a lot of architects are frequently struggling for work, and therefore not always busy...so it might be something you could do as a second vocation, but I am not sure it's going to be particularly easy to boost your income. You'd be better off stripping on the side, Husky Caucasian

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 11:26 PM) It's like Chris Rongey saying he's an employee of the White Sox. While Bob Grim works for the White Sox (Director of Broadcasting) and is his supervisor, he's not actually paid by the Sox. Incestuous, by the way. At any rate, I can see where Harrelson would definitely FEEL he works for the Sox, and less for WGN/Comcast. And technically, the other reason he can say that is the team is a minority shareholder in the broadcasting network that he is employed by, so it's like defining what "is" is. The context in which he said it was when they were discussing the context for that White Sox Smart Car. They were reading the promo and he said "Is an employee of the White Sox eligible to win that car"? Seemed like he was saying it is the legal sense.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 09:45 PM) And playing in a hitter's paradise as well. Ruiz is a great call for most underrated player. AJ Ellis? Michael Bourn? Jason Bourne?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 2, 2012 -> 07:56 PM) My point is Hawk can pop off about the umpires every game the rest of the year, and really all Bud can do is ask him to stop. JR wants him to stop, probably for different reasons than Bud. I suspect JR would think the umpires, although we all know they are above this, may hold a grudge. Bud doesn't want every PBP guy bashing the umpires, and maybe some of it is for umpire safety. I don't know how many MLB games you attend, but they show replays of all controversial plays on boards at every professional sporting event, except one. You will never see a replay of a close call on a board at an MLB park. Well, Dick, Hawk just stated that he is an employee of the White Sox.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 08:46 PM) Can we at least complain about the attendance Of course! Zoloft. All of you can pick it up at your local Walgreens in an hour.

QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 08:41 PM) The world isnt ending and this teams season isnt over. Thats pretty damn clear. I'm not sure it is. The Blue Jays are suddenly unbeatable and we are conceding this as well as one other game already.

QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 08:39 PM) Sorry that Nestor Molina is not lighting it up with the Barons? Just stating a fact. No, you're piling on with the world s ending pessimistic attitude that people seem to take in these game threads.
