  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 29, 2012 -> 10:18 PM) Very cool. Debbie Downer!
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 29, 2012 -> 10:15 PM) Well that just seems unnecessary. It's all just part of the legend, Row...
  3. The Feathered Serpent will create an eight-game winning streak from the blood of his own penis!
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 29, 2012 -> 09:13 PM) Only five teams in baseball (Orioles, Rays, Rangers, Nationals, Dodgers) have better records. Make that 6 if the Reds win their game. Next week will be a good test. 15-5, "only" 11 more games to go in order to equal 2010, haha. 10-6 3-11 15-5 Streakability. And, just as importantly, the Tigers will be a full 5 games back. We've won 11 of 12, Caulfield. I am not sure why you keep wanting to include that extra streak of 4-4 baseball... So actually, if we go 15-4 in our next 19 we can equal the '10 streak...
  5. I was reading this thread thinking it was all from today...s*** was I confused when Caulfield was talking about the Royals beating the Tigers and Verlander throwing 128 pitches... Yikes.

    Job Hunt Thread

    QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 29, 2012 -> 05:37 PM) To be absolutely fair, in my "Exodus" days, I didn't care what I made in salary because when they bought the company AIS, they gave us 3000 shares of Exodus Communications options with a strike price of something like 43$, I forget the exact number. Keep in mind this was nothing but "dumb luck". I did nothing to deserve it, and I did nothing to "earn" it. I was more often than not a dumb-ass kid during this time, learned some humility, and it was, in the end, a humbling experience I wouldn't want to re-do in order to fix my mistakes. They were all mistakes I now realize I needed to make. The stock promptly split 3 times in a row, 2 for 1. My strike price ended up at about 8$ when all was said and done. So, imagine, at the time I had 24000 shares vesting at 2.5% per month, and the stock was trading at about 120$, minus the strike. So, I was usually selling 2.5% of it per month making about 40000 dollars per month AFTER tax, on top of that salary. ...that didn't last long before the .com collapse, but I can tell you I got some insane storys. I only wish that s*** was vesting faster...but since I was limited to 2.5% per month it was what it was... What's crazy is I was one of the few people that was actually selling it and taking the money. I did, however, get to live the life of a "star" for about 1 1/2 years...oh, and the tax man...keep in mind this was during the Clinton years...holy crap did I pay a megaton of taxes. Some of the things I learned, saw, and did...and some of the stories I can tell during that time are insane. One thing I learned, the older generation couldn't f***ing stand me, or people like me. They often called us the .com babies, but not in endearing terms. If only it vested faster or the collapse didn't happen... :/ Edit: Also, being a 21 year old dumbass with way too much money is why I spent most of it. I can see why a lot of these young stars/sports stars fall into the same trap...you never see an end coming. Do I wish I had done it differently looking back? No. Or I wouldn't be where I am now, and I'm completely happy where I am now...without it. $40k a month?? Wowsas!
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ May 29, 2012 -> 09:53 PM) I can't stand Ed Farmer and it just ruins the radio broadcast for me, especially since DJ has little to offer as far as describing the game or interacting with such a moron. I was very sad to see DJ go since it did seem like he and Hawk had finally got things rolling. I've liked this run with Wimpy but there is a certain blandness to him. Not so much that he doesn't have personality, but that he doesn't say much of substance. This may just be because he's been out of the booth and doesn't follow the White Sox though. He's always been intimidated by Hawk and more or less just does anything he can to appease him...but his self-deprecating sense of humor has always made me laugh. I respect people who don't take themselves too seriously...and Paciorek is definitely such a person, despite his many accomplishments. That and the fact he always roots on the Poles will always make me laugh. It can certainly get old on a losing streak though.
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 29, 2012 -> 07:55 PM) Will Hawk stop with the "haven't overthrown the cut off man" crap? I'm pretty sure we must have had a bad throw to the cut off man at least once. Yeah, a few.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2012 -> 07:52 PM) I love Stoney, but Hawk and Wimpy are just awesome Yeah,but they roll together when we win...it's not as funny when we're sucking...then Hawk starts acting like a big dick.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2012 -> 07:50 PM) 2006 first half of the season was the most fun, as there was no pressure coming off of the World Series and the team was just destroying the ball. This last two weeks have been extremely satisfying based on who we've beat as well as who's leading the way (Sale, Reed, Viciedo, Dunn, PK, Rios, Beckham, ADA). These are guys that will continue to be in the organization after this season. Yeah, that 55-27 or whatever it was to start the firt half was great.
  11. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 29, 2012 -> 07:44 PM) From what it sounds like (totally spitballing here) that he might have been trying to be too careful before that and he actually relaxed afterwards. I blame that damn kid of his!
  12. Yeah, this reminds me of '83 a bit....and definitely that great month of June and early July '10
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2012 -> 07:39 PM) I know they have 4 starting pitchers out and Maybin is hurt, but this Padres team could easily lose 105 games. Stults is one of their better pitchers. They could lose 120 in the AL
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2012 -> 07:38 PM) Speaking of Kotsay and the Padres, it's amazing how much better Quentin is than everyone else on that team. That's the NL for you
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2012 -> 07:33 PM) Haha...John Smoltz just said Bryce Harper's swing resembles that of Mark Kotsay Kinda does, now that I think about it
  16. Rainbows, puppy dogs and unicorns up in that booth right now
  17. The nickname Hard Art has always made me giggle
  18. QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ May 29, 2012 -> 07:30 PM) Sorry for being clueless on this but I havent been able to watch the games on tv the last couple of days. Who is this filling in for Stone? John Madden.
  19. QUOTE (Baron @ May 29, 2012 -> 08:28 PM) Horrible strike zone. This ump sucks. That strike he called on Alex was at the shoestrings
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 29, 2012 -> 08:27 PM) Not worth the wait! I just admitted I was wrong.
  21. Ok, I was wrong. Don't trade him.
  22. QUOTE (Jake @ May 29, 2012 -> 07:24 PM) Wouldn't shock me if AJ gets drilled I don't think they want any drama after last weekend
