QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) The boxes were well short, let's be honest here. How on earth did that happen? Don't they just have a standard wooden frame? -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 01:14 PM) Apparently AJ pointed out that Cabrera wasn't standing in the batters box, and now Miguel is complaining that it isn't big enough. Yeah, I'm sure our standardized outline is smaller than everyone else's -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 12:08 PM) Are you some sort of visiting professor/teacher? He was arrested and jailed by the Chinese for being too long winded and random... -
QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 09:53 AM) I think a case could be made that the keeping of pets is wrong. Based on that, it's the degree of wrong we're willing to accept. Having a dog catch his own rabbit for supper is probably ideal, but not practical. I'm willing to accept that I have never fed my dogs the perfect diet. If I'm 80% of perfect instead of 60%, I'm comfortable with that decision. Have you ever seen that Ax Men show on History? There is that swamp logger, Shelby, who has a dog named Willy. He doesn't even feed Willy....Willy just sort of lives with him and is his companion. Willy is responsible for catching all his own food...what he eats, I honestly have no freaking clue...but I often think that is probably the ideal relationship between dog and man... Obviously, however, we can't all do that in an urban setting...there would be dogs roaming all over the place chasing rabbits and squirrels...

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 09:52 AM) I dont tell greg he is wrong. I just say "come on, again?" its different. And this is mostly to tell Joe to stop baiting you, which he clearly is. Lets get back to what this thread is about, not telling Joe to quit pimping lazy mans dog products. No, you're right...I have probably been accused of refusing to let something go a few times before...

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 09:46 AM) Korver is a different player this year. He never looked comfortable, even during the regular season. PAP baby

QUOTE (Boogua @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 09:45 AM) Obviously, which is why I pointed out that Rose couldn't hit anything. Rose isn't a bad jump shooter. Two years ago, when teams still sagged off of him, he averaged nearly 7 attempts a game from 16-23 feet and shot 44%. Very, very solid. Teams have had to play Rose more honest over the past few years because of the improvement on his jump shot. It's just that last year's ECF has made everyone think Lebron is some sort of Rose stopper. If Rose is healthy, I just don't see it. As Balta pointed out, it's not just the ECF...it's been this regular season as well...to me, it basically appears to be whenever he decides he wants to do it, and that is at the end of games. We'll see...I'd like nothing more than for Derrick to get over the hump...it's incredibly frustrating to see the same ending to the movie again and again...
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 08:39 AM) I don't buy that for a second. Rose was on the bench last night, pretty much for all of crunch time. Thibs is about winning, not feelings or what he "should" be doing. Yeah, although he had no business putting him back in with 4 minutes and change left. I need to see them bench him in the playoffs though...last year we went to the same dried-up well several times at the end of those games.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 09:38 AM) That has run 27 pages now. Let's talk about our pets, not Joes way of taking care of his. We know your stances on the issue. Shack takes the hands on, joe takes the hands off. The recommendations have been made from both sides. The public is aware. Ok, I promise I will stop telling Joe he is wrong when you stop telling Greg775 he is wrong...

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 08:28 AM) Joe, stop baiting. Shack, stop taking the bait. You guys disagree. Its over. It's a civil disagreement.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 09:30 AM) And if this is true, then we're going to be lucky to get out of the 2nd round. The thing is, we could get out of the second round if we just admitted that was the case and adjusted...I think we are still better than most teams even when Rose isn't in the game. But you know they will force Rose out there and he will try and be the mvp and actually hurt us...

QUOTE (Boogua @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 08:26 AM) Oh, no doubt, but Rose is obviously much better at driving than Terry. Rose isn't the greatest jump shooter, but he isn't Rajon Rondo either. He's usually a better jump shooter than how he looked in the playoffs. I don't know if it was the injury or the fatigue from the season. Maybe both. But he missed a lot of shots that he usually hits last year in the playoffs. And I don't think Rose will be 100% in the playoffs. He needs to learn how to play a step slower and set up his teammates a bit better. He looked absolutely terrible in pretty much every facet of the game last night. Yeah, but it's easier for LeBron to defend a guy that isn't hitting his jumper and shut down his game around the hoop than vice versa....A player that can hit like that from the perimeter is going to be much more difficult to guard than one who has to go to the hoop a lot more.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 08:23 AM) Making any judgments on Derrick Rose's game vs. LeBron based on last night's game is foolish. Rose passed on like 4 wide open looks from 3 point range. He has zero confidence right now. He was missing shots he makes (most notably, ridiculous runners in the lane) and he was avoiding contact. This is to be expected from a kid not used to being injured who has missed 23 games this year and watched his team succeed without him. Rose is going through a rough time right now. Coming back against the Knicks in MSG and the Heat, both national games, that's rough. He'll get right, and get his confidence back, against Detroit, Washington (oh how he loves to rape John Wall), and Charlotte prior to the next game against the Heat. You will see a different Rose. You will see the MVP. Again, I respect that he is injured but these are things that have remained pretty constant over the course of the last year. My judgments are based on what I have seen in just about every Heat-Bulls game.

QUOTE (Boogua @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 09:12 AM) I tend to disagree with this. They put a younger Lebron (when he was with Cleveland) and he couldn't really stay in front of Rose. Rose put him on skates. Last year in the ECF Rose wasn't 100% (sprained ankle against indiana pretty badly IIRC) and his jumper was terrible. Even then he still got by Lebron pretty easily on a few occasions. The Heat defense just collapses and Rose has problems. Look, Lebron couldn't guard or stay in front of Jason Terry in the finals last year. Terry is quick, but a healthy Rose is quicker. Another big difference is that when Lebron sagged off Terry he hit the jump shot. Rose couldn't hit anything in the ECF last year. Lebron's man defense is wayyyy overblown. I'm sure you guys see more basketball than me, so you are probably right...I dunno if maybe LeBron learned Rose's game more or if he just disrespects Rose's jumper so he doesn't have to play him like he would Terry. But let's make one thing clear here...Terry is a much much much much much better shooter than Rose is...

QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 09:00 AM) Man, we all need to head to Vegas and put all our savings down. With these types of numbers, we can' lose. Don't tempt me... -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 07:51 AM) It wasn't just LeBron. Rose was bad against the Knicks too. If he is healthy, he has got to get his minutes to get him back into game shape. Having him ready for the playoffs is more important than an individual game right now. No, I know...I realize Rose is rusty and injured. But Rose was fine all the other times LeBron shut him down...and you can see it in Rose's game now...he is lost for what to do when LeBron switches to him.... Maybe in a few years when LeBron starts to lose a step and Rose is still young he will be able to get to the hole, but he just can't now...

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 07:43 AM) Honestly shack, that 10 minutes is what the Bulls need Hamilton for. You have a 2nd option who can make a mid-range jump shot, Boozer down low, and Deng on the other side, if they put Lebron out on Rose, suddenly you have mismatches all over the place. Either the Heat bring in extra size and the Bulls have 2 options who are faster than the Heat at getting to the hoop, or the Heat don't bring in extra size at which point the Bulls control the paint. Hamilton is supposed to provide that floor spacing. If Lebron moves out to the top to deny Rose, then they can't collapse on the paint. If Rose can get by Lebron, then he owns them...if he can't get by Lebron, then he can still collapse that defense and have a shooter. Korver utterly failed in this role last year because he couldn't defend Wade and he couldn't make anything during the playoffs. Yeah, Korver had a really bad series...hopefully his PAP training will show some dividends this year I still would like to see Taj get some minutes in that part of the game, as I really think he could finish a lot off of Rose's penetration whereas Jo is not quite skilled enough.

QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 07:23 AM) I don't find it objectionable. I know plenty of hunting camps that feed their dogs this way and it seems to work. I especially like the never ending supply of water. I was usually concerned about cleanliness of the container, but that concern is probably overblown. A constant supply of water is always a good thing. I don't really care how Joe or his family wants to feed their dogs. It obviously works out for all of them. The issue comes in when you are recommending this to others. It simply is not a good idea, for many, many reasons, Tex. I've alluded to the way a dog's gastro system works many, many times now. Because of the way dogs evolved as hunters, as well as the scarcity of prey, a dog's gastro system is biologically equipped to handle large meals seldomly rather than a constant influx of food. The stomach of a dog is much different than our stomachs. Our stomach is designed to have food constantly seeping through it into our intestines. A dog's stomach is designed to almost completely digest the food itself. Because of all the difficult work it does, it needs adequate time to rest. And when it rests, the liver begins to transform fat to carbohydrates. When a dog is eating several times a day, it's stomach cannot rest, and the liver will actually lose this functionality. This functionality of the liver allows the dog to truly perform at optimal levels, especially on an empty stomach. Honestly, everyone can care for their dogs however they please. But it irks me when people recommend things that are actually harmful.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 09:20 PM) So what are you saying? The Bulls are a better team against the Heat without Rose? Talk to me in the playoffs, and see if they can win a game without him. Lebron couldn't win a championship for his team, is his team better without him? Rose has been terrible the past two games, but give it sometime, he will be back, better and smarter. I'm saying that when Rose doesn't play well, he brings the Bulls down dramatically more than when another player on the team doesn't play well (this tends to be the nature of teams where the offense runs significantly through one player). Because of Rose's relatively small size, and probably more because of LeBron's freak athletic ability, Rose can't take the ball to the hoop unless he makes a really difficult teardrop (which I know when he is playing well, he makes look easy), and he's not going to hit to many jumpers over LeBron either. The ball doesn't move much and the other players stand around and no one crashes the boards. Because of the way the first team is accustomed to playing with Rose, when LeBron shuts him down, the entire offense comes to a halt...and of course, this creates transition opportunities for Miami and makes it generally more difficult to play defense if you are never scoring on the offensive end. LeBron can't play Rose the entire game, but you know he'll do it during the last 8-10 minutes and the Heat tend to make their run then and close out the game. I don't really know what the solution is, honestly. He has to shift to a different game at that point and look to dish more off that penetration and the corresponding collapsing Heat defense. It seems to me like a guy subbing in a guy like Taj at that point would be beneficial, as he can finish strong at the hole and not fumble and bumble the ball like Noah tends to do. Having Korver in then would help as well as he could spot up around the 3-point line. They don't have enough players to all collapse on Derrick, cover Taj moving to the basket, and leave someone on Korver all the time...

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 10:13 PM) I don't get all the pessimism on Rose. Yes, he has had two horrible games after the injury, but considering he's probably still injured and not in rhythm right now, it is not the time to panic. People just have incredible short term memories, when healthy, he is still an MVP caliber player and still going to improve from here on out, but he didn't lose the ability to play basketball just because of a groin and an ankle injury. The Heat are a flawed team as you can see tonight, and they are terrible against good teams on the road this season. I don't see a reason to panic even if we lost tonight. It's just fairly obvious that LeBron can completely take him out of his game when he sets his mind to it. When that happens, the Bulls are much better without him even on the floor.

I love that we're still on loose balls up 10 with 30 seconds left

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 10:02 PM) Btw, everyone realizes there would have been a foul called against the Bulls on almost every possession in OT if this was in Miami, right? Yes, that has been going through my head the entire game. The NBA Playoffs are incredibly frustrating for the visiting team...
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 09:59 PM) Its hard to believe that these words are going to be typed, but the Bulls were probably better off if Rose didnt play today. We're better plenty of times without him. It's pretty well known in Vegas to bet the Bulls when Rose isn't playing...

Poor Korver. He got the slow awkward and white call there.
