QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 08:59 PM) If your burden of guilt is that 10+ people could have gotten together to fake everything, there is literally no one out there who is guilty. Got their DNA? The police department faked it. Plead guilty? They forced me into it when no one was looking. 10 people saw it happen? They are all lying and planned what to say. Needless to say they're all like 12 years old, too.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 08:00 PM) Is baseball the only sport you can screw up as badly as Rios and Dunn and have nobody ever say anything to you? I wish it was like college basketball where coaches could yell at them and get in their face. Or soxtalk -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 07:53 PM) When he got off to that great start in 2010 was he going the other way much? I feel like his power was cf and LF, and I'm on my phone so I can't find the spray chart. He was back up the middle like every hit...then the scouts figured it out and teams started placing their SS close to the bag. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 08:48 PM) What does that have to do with anything? The comment was were people outraged about the media coverage, your answer was that it was impossible to believe Sandusky may be innocent, I said that its not impossible, you then relate it to emptying the jails? If you want to arrest everyone, why not Zimmerman? Yes, it is impossible, unless you're related to him.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 07:39 PM) Honest question...if Dunn hits .175 again or so, does anyone think he'll retire after the year is over? It would be a tremendous favor to us. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 07:35 PM) Boy the Sox stink. I still can't believe Rosenthal wrote that fluffy column on how good the Sox look after 1 week of baseball. Talk about over-reacting. I can't believe you even spend the time to type this foolish nonsense that occurs in your brain. No one cares. -
This is just wild speculation. Everyone is unique, but he's in the prime of his career and showed these same struggles before. I'm inclined to give him more than 3 starts before I start speculating on injuries or that his legs aren't strong enough.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 07:11 PM) Humph, Buehrles rough 2006 season was his 27 year old season, and that's when he said he needed to start getting in better shape. Ahh, well this must apply to all 27 year old pitchers then...

It's sad because we clearly seemed outclassed by the O's, at least from an offensive perspective. Pathetic. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 06:51 PM) Stunning that this offense is having a hard time even getting a base hit tonight. Some of the RBI totals for our players are comical. Alexei's scored 1 run on the season, the result of a home run. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 07:51 PM) 27? I didn't have knees left by 25. You can't throw more than 60mph either...

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 04:40 PM) There was a story a couple years ago when he had that bad first half that he really started working hard on his leg strength, running bleachers and such, and that happened right when he had a great close to the season. I wouldn't be shocked if he just was getting older and reaching that "hey, now I actually have to work out to be able to pitch" stage either. He's not old enough for that yet

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 10:35 AM) Part of life is dealing with other people who may not like you. People breaking the law to retaliate, should be treated as criminals and prosecuted. They are 2 different things entirely. I dont believe I have advocated vigilante justice or taking the law into their own hands. I merely stated that Zimmerman has to deal with the consequences of his actions, just like if someone was to attack Zimmerman, they would have to deal with the consequences. My take on that depends a lot on what comes out in the trial. If he truly had to make a choice between fearing for his life and taking Martin's, I doubt he contemplated this being played 24 hours a day on all the cable news networks prior to pulling the trigger. However, if he went in there looking to shoot a suspicious person because "they always get away with it," then I say tough luck.

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 12:57 PM) That's true. And due to the cost, in a lot of lower charged cases (think not murder or rape - or DUI since labs are kind of important there), there aren't any labs. That doesn't stop a panel of jurors from expecting DNA evidence to conclusively tie the guy charged with car theft to the vehicle by some fiber of hair left on the seat. In fact, if you are in a jury pool, you might get a question asking if you watch CSI and an answer in the affirmative might make you more likely to get struck from the panel. My criminal forensics teacher used to refer to CSI as BSI because of the nonsense they do on that show. My guess is that although many of the tests may not have been as iron-clad as they once were perceived to be, in the overwhelming, overwhelming majority of cases (think 98%), they still have the right person in jail. It's not often that you have a situation like Balta laid out, where all the witness testimony and evidence said one thing and the forensic evidence said another.

I read about Dave awhile ago...I have a personal connection to his struggles and so it's nice to see him doing well.
