  1. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 12:10 AM) BTW: the Vikings are Cutler's b****es. They have no answer for him. I really hope we stick with these quick hitters in the passing game...the Packers have been doing this against us for years and I always wondered why we never tried it...
  2. Unreal to see Peppers running stride for stride with Peanut there. Wish he would have turned around and thrown a block though...
  3. If that helmet-to-helmet had been on Favre, there would have been 3 flags thrown.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 20, 2010 -> 06:40 PM) LOL, Trent Dilfer hates that Bears' offense. Just said their "good not great" defense can't carry their "pathetic" offense, 10-6 team at the best. Saw this as well. And that Cutler is crippled when you take his first option away. Does he not remember his own career? In the spirit of food, I had a chicken Philly. Outstanding.
  5. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Dec 19, 2010 -> 11:45 PM) There wasn't anytime left on the clock, but he thought there was. I don't think he was being a douche I think he was trying to run all the time off the clock. If that was the case, which he stated it was, then it was a smart play. I could understand that if he wasn't showboating at the same time. Hold the damn ball close to your body and be a little more aware of your surroundings, if that's the case. You don't jeopardize a touchdown and the game for a few seconds anyways. This guy is going to get blindsided one day and cost his team points or possibly a game...
  6. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 19, 2010 -> 11:41 PM) Desean Jackson annoys the f*** out of me with his pre-TD douchery... cross the f***in' goal line dude, then you can do whatever you want. Isn't Jackson the same dumbass that fumbled at the 10 because he started celebrating early? Yeah, that pissed me off as well. Couldn't believe he pulled that s*** today.
  7. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Dec 19, 2010 -> 10:25 PM) Caption this photo... Oh boy, I think you just ruined any chance I had of actually liking this guy...
  8. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 19, 2010 -> 11:27 PM) Ok I have to say it: "nobody cares" Ahh, harsh! It's ok, Knight gets to talk about his picks in here and I get to talk about my betting in here. No one ever responds, but it's till an outlet for us... BTW, got beat on that stupid onside kick runback for a td by the Colts today. Grr..
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 19, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) Well that's just not realistic. Posey and Stanton both had questions marks when they were in the minors. Can Posey cut it as a catcher? Can he hit with enough power? Stanton strikes out too much, ect. Greinke is a really good pitcher. But he's not Felix Hernandez. I think the Royals did great. You're entitled to your opinion, of course. Yeah, ultimately, we'll just have to wait and see. I just don't personally like Escobar or Cain, for that matter. But I've been wrong many, many times before
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 19, 2010 -> 05:38 PM) Who's to say he's the centerpiece? You could argue Cain or Jeffress as the main component. It's when you put all three together that makes it a great deal. Again, what is a "stud" in your mind? Buster Posey? Mike Stanton? Guys like that? Yep. Exactly.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 19, 2010 -> 04:19 PM) In Andrus's rookie year, he took 40 walks and struck out 77 times. In Escobar's rookie year, he took 36 walks and struck out 70 times. On the stealing bases thing, Andrus last year was 32/47 in stolen bases, for a 68% clip. We'd be furious if a guy kept running at that clip. I can't say that Escobar's a great player, and yeah Andrus is a year younger, but the numbers you're trying to use to defend Andrus really don't say he's a very good player either. They say he's showing a hell of a lot more at 22 than Escobar did at 23.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 19, 2010 -> 04:02 PM) Then I just have to assume you're not in tune to the minor leagues. I'm a BA subscriber and I follow prospect-laden sites like minorleagueball religiously. The guys the Royals got back are consensus top 50-60 prospects. And unless you get to watch these guys (prospects in general), you really have no choice but to go off what you read/hear (experts, scouting reports, ect). But in this case, I've seen 3 of the 4 guys they got back. And all 3 are supremely talented. I have no idea what your definition of a stud is. But as far as I'm concerned, the Brewers got 3 back. If I were trading a guy one-year removed from a Cy Young award, I'd want the centerpiece to be something other than a slick-fielding, slap-hitting ss. JMHO.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 19, 2010 -> 03:57 PM) Andrus put up a .702 OPS as a rookie and a .643 OPS last year, while Escobar put up a .614 OPS last year. I don't think either of them have numbers that look all that impressive. Andrus at least shows some ability to hit for average, draw a walk, and steal bases. And he's more than a year younger than Escobar.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 19, 2010 -> 03:56 PM) Andrus definitely got upwards in the minors more rapidly, but Escobar probably put together better batting numbers overall. Higher batting average, higher OPS, at higher levels as well, and hitting the bigs at 23 isn't exactly an old guy. I didn't say he was old; in fact, I pointed out he was young a few posts ago. However, he just posted a line of .235/.288/.326 with 10 stolen bases in over 500 at-bats. He just reminds me too much of Carlos Gomez.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 19, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) Baseball America had Escobar as their #12 prospect coming into 2010. Yippee. He didn't impress me at all last year.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 19, 2010 -> 12:43 PM) Thing is 3 of the 4 players they got are major league ready. It's not like they have to wait around for 2-3 years for these guys to develop. Not sure how much anybody around here knows about Escobar. But he really is an Elvis Andrus clone. His bat has to improve. But this guy can play a mean ass SS. I Andrus much more than I do Escobar.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 19, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) I'm not saying it should frighten you. But are you crazy? Maybe 1 or 2 teams in baseball could've topped that haul. I'd like to know what would impress you? 4 Jason Heywards? Well, I'm just going off what I know of Escobar, and from what I read from Brewers fans. They didn't seem at all concerned about losing those prospects. Secondly, if I'm trading Greinke, I want at least one absolute stud back. I don't view any of these prospects as that.

    Films Thread

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 19, 2010 -> 11:56 AM) Watched Book of Eli last night. I'd give it a B minus. Pretty entertaining film and well done for the most part. I thought the ending was kind of bs, but Denzel is great in everything he does.
  19. I suppose this is good news. For our sake it would have probably been better for the Royals to be dumb and hold onto him, but the haul they got doesn't frighten me all that much. I'll be curious to see how Escobar turns out, but color me unimpressed thus far (yes, I know he is very young). I wonder if the Brewers will step up their efforts to deal Prince now.
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 18, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) Whoa! I see this thread turned into Balta vs Shack. Anyway, I've never said I wanted a team full of home grown players. But a couple every now and then sure would help. That's it. I think we all can agree with that!
  21. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 18, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) With Jenks, it's a hell of a lot more about what we saw out of him than what some of the numbers suggest. To his credit, I do remember a crap load of little shank hits in the infield. Maybe it's because he's so slow off the mound, but I think he is the victim of an inordinate quantity of unlucky squibbers.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 18, 2010 -> 05:09 PM) It's the right move for their franchise, but it's probably not going to make a whole lot of long-term difference. I just hope it means the Raiders have a better chance of covering 6.5 tomorrow. Apparently the public thinks so, as the line is up to 7.5 now...
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 18, 2010 -> 04:04 PM) Tebow will start tomorrow. Yes! I think...
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 18, 2010 -> 04:51 PM) And my point is...it's like a 21% chance of success on each pick versus a 20% chance of success if you don't go overslot. It's all a numbers game to me. I really disagree with those numbers. It's getting the # 4 overall talent with the 29th overall pick. It's getting a first round talent with your fourth round pick. I think it's a huge competitive advantage.
