He's speaking in generalities and pulling s*** out of his ass. Which is fine. But don't tell me to "believe me" and not form my own opinion when you're just making up nonsense.

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:00 PM) If I recall, your the one that jumped down my throat for making a general statement and didn't give any opinion to it when I gave numerous times before. I jumped down your throat because you keep posting the same one liners over and over. Take a lesson from Docsox24 if you want to learn how to handle having inside information. If your info is good, people will take notice. Don't try and stifle discussion with it.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 07:59 PM) What is our time frame here? Out of all 30 teams, average attendance is down by 300 people per game, and we haven't even hit the chases yet. Big whoop. 13 clubs attendance have actually gone higher. The devastation!

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 07:57 PM) I believe so as well, it us or he goes unclaimed. Many teams won't touch Manny with a 10 ft pole. No one is disputing that. The question is whether you take the risk of some team going rogue and claiming him. I think we need him too much to risk it.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 07:54 PM) I'll stick up for NJ, he's always had good information coming from the Phillies source. And that's great. No one is disputing that he has a source. What is obnoxious is when he insists on things like we should no longer have discussions because he is Jesus or Scott Boras. He has been jumping up and down for 3 days now insisting we should just stop typing and bow down and thank him for bringing his wisdom to the table.

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) If he had, I would of said. If and when Manny goes unclaimed or is claimed by the White Sox, I want a formal apology for all the garbage your talking. Read my posts. I'm of the opinion we wil claim Manny.

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:51 PM) It's all about money.....trust me. Look around, many, many empty stadiums. You are on crack.

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:49 PM) Yet I had it before any media member. I had Berkman before any media member. My source is top notch. What you had is a bunch of obvious generalities that you've been jumping up and down flapping your gums about. Let me guess, you know we inquired about Luke Scott too?

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:46 PM) This. Phillies sources feel that Manny would clear for sure. Same source that said Oswalt would be a Phillie when St. Louis was the favorite, same source that said White Sox were hot after Dunn. My godparents in Italy knew the white sox were hot after Dunn. Gmafb.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) I agree. If teams have $6-7 million to spend on a loose cannon, despite his talent, for a third of the season they have a lot of explaining to do. If the Sox were willing to pay that much they wouldn't have screwed around with their lowball offer. Manny can hit, but there's some question marks. Attitude, health, both getting healthy and staying healthy, and while he's been good since his PED bust, he's certainly not what he was. I can't see the White Sox pay a guy that kind of money for 50 games to DH when they wouldn't give others that for an entire season. Manny has good numbers in limited ABs but certainly not eye popping. Oh not this again...you and your obsession with money...do you realize the owners of baseball teams have access to all sorts of credit lines and loans etc? I cannot understand how you can possibly view the finances of a MLB team as some cookie jar that is either empty or is not..
-
QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) No teams took on monster salaries. The baseball sources I have with the Phillies say it's across the league. Oh good lord... I agree most teams aren't looking to throw away money right now. But that is very, very general. You can never underestimate a team that thinks one more piece will get them over the top...

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:36 PM) I told you why! Economy and $$$$ No one is going to claim him with the fear of the Dodgers giving Manny away to save money. Multiple GM's said money is an issue on MLB Network the last week of July on all they're trade shows. It is the real deal. Economy and money are the same things. Your reasoning is a bit overly simplistic, don't you think? Don't believe everything you see on tv.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:33 PM) Who the hell raves about Tony Pena? The only thing he's good at is eating innings. Tony Pena is Jose Vizcaino of 2005. He is very important to this club. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 07:19 PM) Sweet, we're playing terrible baseball now. Luckily for me, I have season 2 of Weeds and 3 episodes of True Blood in my TiVo! And peanut butter, jelly, and pretzels! -

I wish ARod would just hit this damn home run. I am so sick of this. -
QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 06:15 PM) Like I said earlier, no one is going to claim him. I hate these bs posts. I sat here and watched Steve759465037 tell me for a month that we should listen to him, that LeBron would never go play with Dwayne Wade, like he had some sort of inside info we were supposed to believe. If you're going to continually voice your opinion on something, please tell us why. Give reasons. Make an argument. State your position. What is the point of popping in these threads and posting things like that as if you are Scott Boras and we are just supposed to believe you or something?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 06:12 PM) If the Sox were willing to take the entire contract or anything close, they would have offered more than $1 million in relief and no players. I heard an interview with Colleti and he summed up the monetary figure as pocket change. Yeah, it was an opening offer and they never were able to negotiate afterwards because the Dodgers had so many other things going on. My guess is they would have been willing to pay $3-4 million. And if they were willing to pay $3-4 million, it's hard to say whether or not they would be willing to be $6-7 million to avoid the risk of not getting him. Obviously just speculation and my opinion. Certainly could be wishful thinking.

QUOTE (forrestg @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 06:18 PM) His arb figures will be determined by the rest of the season. I have the feeling that he feels comfortable with coop but like Buehrle probably won't be satisfied with less than he's worth. That is why he didn't sign a deal earlier. My guess he gets premium money but not sabathia money. 14 to 18 mil 3 yrs. Danks won't have to go to arbitration. The sox know what they got. There's no way he can make that much in his next year of arbitration. He'll likely get $7-8 million in 2011 and $11-13 in his final year. So signing him to a 3/$45-50 million deal basically means you're paying him $25-30 million for his first free agency year. Ain't happening.
