  1. Oh hey look, Williams starts and they get down 7 after about 6 minutes because the offense sucks. Griffin comes in, immediately gets three rebounds (one offensive,) and they play 100 times better. Again though, now they have to dig out of a hole. So dumb.
  2. I disagree. I want to get out to a 10 pt lead in games, not get 10 minutes into the game down a few points, constantly clawing back. Again, Williams gives you absolutely nothing on offense. It's 4 on 5 to start the game until Griffin comes in. So why even screw with it? IMO the rotation would be Ayo/Trent/Griffin with Frazier and Kipper replacing the two guys that need a rest. Williams as the secondary back-up if needed for defense only. What was the deal with Tevian Jones? Did he do some academic thing? It sucks he was suspended so long. He's completely lost out there and there's really no way he can learn on the fly during conference season. He'd be a great alternative to Williams.
  3. Great win, despite the officiating, which was absolutely atrocious. Illinois guys got murdered but Kofi picked up two for simply being too big. I thought they were trying to weed out flopping? Wisconsin (Davison in particular) were gifted calls all night. The total non-call on the last play (on Giorgi) was laughable, but hey, i'll take it given the crap Illinois (and other teams) go through at the Kohl Center. If Griffin doesn't start from this point forward Underwood should be fired immediately. Dude is too good to be losing minutes to Williams, who is, at best, an OK defender (when not matched up with someone bigger). He's a complete zero on offense. They were playing 4 on 5 last night when he was in the game. Take Rutgers and NW at home to get to 5-2.....then a tough slate going to Purdue and Michigan, home against Minn and then to Iowa. 7-4 would be amazing. 6-5 would be totally fine.
  4. What's worse than saying Mitch is the starter is him saying he has "extreme confidence" in the offense...one of the worst in the entire league.
  5. I'd be fine with it. I'd also take a look at Foles or Minshew (less so), depending on what Jacksonville ends up doing. The Bears don't need a GREAT qb to win and go far in the playoffs. They just need a competent one. It's time for the Trubisky experiment to end. He can be a backup. They need to sign a guy and then take a flier on one late in the draft.
  6. I don't think Maryland or Michigan are truly top 5 teams (if they are, this is a down year in college bball), but still, the last two weeks have given me a lot of hope that Illinois can be really good come March. Like, get to the tourney and win a few games good. Kofi just went against two of the best bigs in the league and mostly dominated them. 20 more games to gain experience... Would be nice of Trent played like Trent again. And if Giorgi and Ayo protected the ball a little more. But overall the defense is sooooo improved. Effort and intensity has changed too. Night and day. That Miami loss may have been a good thing.
  7. It's been funny and all, but the plot has been pretty terrible. There are only so many times that the company can be on the brink of collapse and then something miraculously drops in their lap and saves the day. I think there have been one of those events in each episode this season.
  8. I just don't get the "i'm 100% committed, but I'm not going to sign...oh and also I spoke to Michigan a few days ago and i'm going to make sure Illinois is still for me." Is this all just leverage to get Michigan (or another new suitor) to come up with some dough?
  9. I know he's the old school bruising-center and the NBA is looking for stretch 5's these days, but he's a 3/4 Shaq basically. Wouldn't you want that on an NBA team? If he keeps this up, i'd be shocked if he lasts more than two seasons at Illinois.
  10. Still applies. I know it's early but they looked like shit last night. Still waiting for this 7 second shot clock offense. When Ayo/Trent/insert guard actually moved the ball and got up a shot, or got the ball inside fast, good things happened. But too often they reverted to the shitty Groce offense of passing around the perimeter for 25 seconds and then jacking up a contested shot. Ayo looks like a lottery pick only in transition. He's pretty terrible at creating his own shot. Still not sure why he's even being considered as a 1st rounder at this point. Giorgi is really struggling defensively. And the fouling is still an issue. Trent is too passive, much like a large portion of last year Still get a few decent minutes from Kipper and then he's gone for a half at a time. Feliz is who he is - an undersized mid major guy who can make some old-man plays occasionally. He can't do it consistently. Everyone else is bleh. Still no sure why Williams is on scholarship. He's not even in the rotation much anymore. The coaches son seems to play more than he does. The only positive so far is that Kofi is every bit as advertised. He's a monster. Hopefully he can develop a shot, but for the next few years he can just be a big bruiser.
  11. What rumors? I'm usually tuned into all things Illinois but have not heard anything about this.
  12. Didn't the Packers benefit from the one pass interference review that was overturned this season? Some TD came off the board during halftime of week 2 or 3.
  13. I haven't felt compelled to post in a while, but holy crap has this issue pissed me off. Are we not all pro-democracy/anti-communist human rights violators? How could there be any political disagreement on this one? I cannot believe how the NBA responded to this and it's really, REALLY soured me as a fan. They take away an All-Star game over a stupid bathroom bill, but when a GM simply retweets something in support of a PRO-DEMOCRACY movement against a communist dictatorship (on Twitter....a platform already banned in China!), they go all def con 4 and try to shut it all down. They force Morey to apologize. They force James Harden to apologize. Steve Kerr, one of the most outspoken faces of the league on every political issue of the day, suddenly has no comment or anything to say? Are you fucking kidding me? Adam Silver tried to clean up the mess yesterday with a new statement today (too late) and SHOCKINGLY China responds by saying that criticizing their government is not freedom of expression and so they're still not going to show any NBA pre-season games and may not show any regular season games either. In other words, bend the knee or else. The NBA (and Hollywood...kudos to South Park for a great episode on this btw) better take a stand here. If not they lost a consumer here. Edit: and I hope others follow.
  14. Remind me the last big name FA that agreed to come to Chicago. In the last 20 years I can think of 2 - Ben Wallace and Carlos Boozer. How many have been discussed? Dozens. Elder-Wade does not count.
  15. I mean those types of superstars - the ones capable of single-handedly making you a contending team - are incredibly rare outside of the lottery. You picked maybe the two best in the history of the league. It just doesn't happen very often. More likely you get the Doug McDermott's of the world.
  16. About as likely as Knicks fans thinking they can pull Giannis in. Here's the problem with the Bulls, Knicks, etc. - they have a bunch of old (white) owners/executives who have bad reps throughout the league. Take away Jordan and the Reinsdorf Bulls have been awful. That's literally the only thing that makes the Bulls the Bulls at this point. Chicago might as well be Milwaukee - two cold ass Midwest cities that no free agent cares to go to. At the end of the day these guys want to be with cool, rich, hip owners and/or teams that have deep connections to cool, rich and hip people (e.g., Rock Nation, Klutch, people in LA, Silicon Valley, etc.) They want to be paid for their basketball but also be connected to an entire other world of people who can increase their brand. Jay-Z and all that he can bring is why the Nets are now way more attractive than the Knicks. The Bulls only hope is to luck into the next big superstar via the draft. And that's not happening if they finish with the 8th to 5th seed in the playoffs every year.
  17. Backseat looks pretty small. Can I get 2 car seats in it?
  18. So basically we drafted a PG who is great in the fast break but mediocre to bad in the half court (someone on twitter last night claimed he was one of the worst pg's in the country in the half court), and we have a coach who wants to play a brand of basketball that is more 1980 than 2019 (e.g., half court sets and focus on the post) when the roster is full of good jump shooters. I'm sure this season is going to be GREAT.
  19. Ok car junkies, help me narrow the list: Audi A6 BMW 5 series Mercedes E-Class Honda Accord Mazda 6 Something else? Obviously there is a line there between classes. I drive on average less than 10 miles a day (basically to my kids' daycare/school, to my parking space at my Metra station, and then back home), but 5-6 days or so a month i'm driving 60-80 miles in a day. Fuel efficiency isn't a great concern given this. I need something mid-size to handle two car seats in the back. I also don't want to break the bank for something i'll use very little, so i'm looking to spend $30k-ish and am happy to buy something a few years old. It looks like I can easily find a 2016 or 2017 A6, a 2016 5-series or a 2016 E-class with about 20-25k miles for at or under $30k. Alternatively, completely decked out 2019 Accords and Mazda 6's can be had for $35k or under (list price, so even less). Haven't gone out to test drive anything yet, but will in the next few weeks. Has anyone done any similar search for a mid-sized sedan recently? Is the jump from Honda/Mazda to the luxury class that great? Ideally i'd love something fun to drive, but, again, not being in the car THAT much, I dunno how important that is.
  20. I didn't have a problem with this because Tyrion has been her closest ally through the show. It was going to be a tough decision. She said as much to Jon. If we're going down this road, what makes no sense is Grey Worm keeping Tyrion or Jon alive long enough to have that leadership summit. His Queen was just killed. He answers to no one. He would have killed those two (for the same reason he killed the remaining Lannister soldiers - they were enemies of Dany) and then taken off with the Unsullied. He had zero reason to negotiate with anyone.
  21. The endings for the major characters were for the most part fine and made sense (save for Jon being the savior of westeros but then being banished to the north by two small armies)....the execution to get there the last two seasons...Ugh. Like that Jon and Dany scene just typifies the whole thing. Not one fucking word from Jon about why he did it? And no further words from Dany? Underwhelming is the word. Over and over again. Underwhelming.
  22. If the Bulls trade for Lonzo Ball and his bozo family I would immediately cease being a Bulls fan. That would be a clear indication that this franchise has given up ever trying to be relevant again.
  23. Also, someone may have pointed this out already, but LOL at Jaime telling Tyrion he never cared about the people... Didn't he kill the Mad King precisely to save the people? wtf?
