God, how awful would it be if he verbals tomorrow but doesn't sign his LOI? Then this goes on the entire season with the fear that he'll bolt and go to Kansas if Kansas loses out on a couple of these recruits.

Unfortunately for her if he picks Kansas she's going to lose a lot of credibility with Illinois fans.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 01:45 PM) Yea, I'm not really sure how to interpret her article. I don't think she would even put her opinion out there if Cliff didn't like it, he pretty much is controlling what she's reporting (benefiting both parties right now). If KU really has lost out on Jones/Okafor then they will push for Cliff and do anything necessary to get him, that scares me (think Wiggins over UK last year). I can't count them out because who knows what they had up their sleeves this past week. Meanwhile, Illinois makes so much sense for him and Groce has done a great job recruiting him. I'm trying to temper my hopes because this recruitment has been as crazy as any in terms of guesses to where he's going. Cliff has played this recruitment perfectly in terms of drumming up excitement for his decision, it's aggravating as an Illinois fan but I understand why he's doing it. Much like the Snider and Black commitments, i'm planning on being very disappointed but will be happy to be surprised tomorrow.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 01:06 PM) Seriously. My odds: 40% Illinois 40% Kansas 15% Depaul 5% Memphis Though it's so odd that people have been switching back to Kansas when that Taylor Rooks chick said she thought it was down to Illinois and Depaul.

I was thinking last night - isn't it better for these top guys NOT to go to Kentucky? I couldn't name you more than 2-3 Kentucky players the last couple of years, and he's had like 8-10 1st rounders. Watching last night I knew of Randle and the Harrison twins, but no on else even though there were more top recruits. At some point doesn't the recruiting pitch have to be why not be a big fish in a small (yet successful and national) pond instead of a small fish in a big pond? Scouts are going to find you no matter where you play. I guess I'd rather be getting the publicity of leading a team as the major star over going to a school with a bunch of other stars.

Even without Cliff, that's a great recruiting class for Illinois and for Groce in his 1st real year.

Seth Davis was on Mully and Hanley this morning and made it pretty clear that this isn't going to change come conference time. If refs have to call 60 fouls a game, they'll do it. That's the order they've been given. I can't imagine how unwatchable some of the big ten games will be.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 10:17 AM) Parker is already there though. Wiggins grabbed alot of points later in the game but I didnt notice him like you notice Parker. He's a superstar IMO. Wiggins didn't really play in the first half, but he obviously took over the game late when it mattered.

OBAMA/TRUMPCARE MEGATHREAD
QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 09:46 AM) How much of a premium do you believe is for items like you mention versus things like major medical if you get in a car accident (more likely for a young male than an older woman?) How many different items do you want to check off that could or could not happen? And finally, when calculating premiums, do you think that there is a possibility that insurers are thinking that hey, that woman can't get testicular cancer so we'll weigh that risk as very low and are not charging much for it? It's all relatively small i'm sure, but if you're increasing the cost by a dollar it's still too much. At the end of the day you should be able to shop around for a policy that fits your needs. If you want to gamble that you'll never get sick and don't need to pay for that coverage, hey that's your gamble and you'll be stuck with the consequences of it. It's not societies role to ensure that you won't make stupid decisions.

OBAMA/TRUMPCARE MEGATHREAD
QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 09:04 AM) No, but neither is ovarian cancer. Or testicular cancer for women. People who don't have sex get STD coverage. People who don't have legs get podiatrist coverage. Cancer is a different animal. Most plans that I know of don't break it down by cancer type. Your insurance covers seeing a specialist, labs and treatment options (drugs, chemo, scans, etc). Care related to pregnancy is specific. For example in my wife and I's plan there were certain limits to the number of doctor visits, ultra sounds and scans. If there was a specific cost increase for a woman buying a plan that included prostate exams, I'd have an issue with that as well.

2013-2014 NFL Thread
One question I have: why is he telling those informants that he could move as much coke as he could get? Why is he setting up future deals if all he wanted to do was set up his cousin and act like a financial backer? He doesn't seem to have a good explanation for that. The secondary deals with Toby seem BS though. If the only communication between the 2 is after Toby gets word that his shipment is on its way (And payment is expected), it makes total sense that he'd call the richest guy he knows for some money. 40 seconds isn't very long to go over a large deal I wouldn't think. At the end of the day, why are screwing around with drugs (or drug dealing) when you're a millionaire? Why are you concerning yourself with 88k? This guy was clearly an idiot.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 09:22 AM) Parker was head and shoulders the best player I saw last night. I wouldnt pick anyone other than him as #1 in the NBA draft. Depends on what your need is. Randle is going to be a banger. Parker is going to be a Rudy Gay type player. Wiggins I think has the biggest upside. He's the most athletic and if he gains another 30 lbs he's going to be Lebron like.

OBAMA/TRUMPCARE MEGATHREAD
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 08:30 AM) Oh come on, you aren't serious with this one, are you? What happens when your wife/common law gets pregnant, and she is on your insurance? Or your girlfriend gets pregnant, you get married, and THEN add her to your insurance? This doesn't even get into the fact that, regardless of ObamaCare, insurance plans are generalized policies to spread out differentiated risk over a pool, and that you can't economically tailor health plans to each individual's exact needs. I understand that health insurance can't be an ala carte menu. But you should have options. A single kid in college has no need for pregnancy care. He's not married, if he knocked some chick up she's not getting that coverage, so it's an absolute waste of money that he is FORCED to pay. It's akin to forcing people to buy a car insurance policy covering semi repairs when you drive a sedan. Edit: and the bolded isn't totally true. If you develop a health issue you're going to buy a more comprehensive insurance plan as time goes by. If you have a family you're going to buy a more comprehensive insurance plan. If you're a single 25 year old male who will most likely never see a doctor except for once a year, you shouldn't be forced to buy an insurance plan that covers medical care you will never, ever use. You should have the option of buying a catastrophic plan just in case you're involved in an unlikely accident.

Mich St and Kentucky are a step above these teams. Way more polished. Also, these touch fouls are infuriating. Basically allowed to punch each other in the post, but cant breathe on someone on the perimeter. It completely kills rhythm.

Comparing Bush and Obama
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 04:50 PM) I can't believe you were able to type some of this with a straight face. Sadam wanted no part of a war. The world's most dangerous tyrant? Seriously? He hated AQ as much as anyone and everyone knew it. The Iraq war was a farce. The Bush administration would have made up anything to justify an invasion. It was just an excuse for the Neo Cons to finance their war machine and satisfy the nation's need for vengeance by blowing up brown people. It didn't matter that they were completely unrelated. They were Muslims, damn it! I buy the "revenge for trying to kill my daddy" theory over the "must kill brown people" theory. But that doesn't fit the narrative that all conservatives hate colored people.

Also, we're all clearly jinxing this entire thing from happening by talking about it as a decent possibility.
