  1. Wow, this dude for Nebraska is huge.
  2. And why doesnt btn use the 15 alternate channels when these games go long?
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 07:20 PM) I want Big Ten refs to be miked up more. "Oh this is a blowout, lets put the other team in the double bonus for 14 min" is what I assume I would hear. 13-26 from the line though. This game could have been a lot different.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 12:50 PM) I really am amazed how much his game has regressed over the last couple of years. I was pretty happy to have him as Rose's back up, but wow, he just doesn't have that step anymore. At this point I would ditch him, even if it meant releasing him, and roll with Robinson and Teague once Rose is back. Teague has been pretty brutal in the games I've seen him play in. Still too much of a rookie to get playing time over Kirk.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 21, 2013 -> 08:08 PM) Apparently lawyers don't like boobs. For the record, I love boobs.
  6. Anyone else find it funny that Obama flubbed the "states" portion of his swearing in? Freudian slip?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 10:14 AM) Meh - the day I start worrying about what some turd reviewer has to say about a good episode of television is the day I stop watching television. I have and speak my own opinion on all subjects. Don't you run a website that's all about reviewing/giving opinions on things?
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 09:38 AM) It is astounding to me that D'Antoni is forcing this personnel into his system rather than adapting to it. Pau Gasol as a bench player? WTF is wrong with you I liked the point Simmons made too - by benching him they just lost some trade value. He's not an integral part of the team, so the Lakers can't demand top dollar.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 09:39 AM) How can one nitpick boobs. Makes no sense Ha, true, it's my nature to nitpick. But I would never nitpick boobs. Who was that? Soxbadger?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 09:23 AM) Saying nothing happened in that episode is inaccurate. There hasn't been a bad episode in the series, but to say this week's (for the purposes of American viewing) is the worst of the series doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. New footman Tom's an idiot Matthew wants to take over Downton finances New kitchenmaid Edith letter published Ethel gives kid away Even Anna and Bates had a worthwhile moment when they got each other's letters. Anyway, if you didn't like that episode, maybe you don't get the show? Maybe it's not for you? That epsiode was Downton in a nutshell - everything that happens in their little vacuum is a HUGE deal, especially the hiring of a new footman/kitchenmaid. I feel like you have turned your hating just to hate from Walking Dead to Downton Abbey! But I loved the first two seasons whereas I always hate-watched The Walking Dead (until this year, when it took a considerable leap forward, even though still flawed). I agree with the AV Club's review. It explains the points i'm trying to make in a better way: http://www.avclub.com/articles/season-thre...de-three,91341/

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 21, 2013 -> 07:47 AM) Downton Abbey is the most consistently-entertaining program on television. Really? I thought this last week was the worst of the entire series. Nothing happened. I'm not even sure there was a story arc in there. Tom burning down a house and leaving his pregnant wife to run away by herself? Bates doing something in the prison resulting in him getting his letters back (I seriously have no idea what happened there or why - why was his mail messed with all of a sudden? why did screwing with his cellmate fix that problem? So confused.)? A new footman and kitchen maid? I'm a little disappointed so far this season. I expected the Bates/Anna story to drag, but not this much. I thought we'd get into some really good discussions about the aristocracy coming to an end, but other than the not-believable threat of having to leave Downton for a smaller estate, or Tom's not-believable rambling (seriously, his devotion to country is ridiculous), that topic really hasn't been discussed. Perhaps I was hoping for a bit more than the show could deliver.
  12. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 21, 2013 -> 12:12 PM) what does someone DO with $57,000? haha as someone who's breaking $20K for the first time at age 26 - I can't imagine what my quality of life would be like with 2.5x that. lol Mo' money, mo' problems.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 21, 2013 -> 12:20 PM) No, it wasn't a job for $12 an hour. And as I said, the lesser paying jobs that I did apply for, I was told I was overqualified for. What would you have me do? I actually applied for some jobs with a resume that did not include my legal education, because that seemed to frighten employers in many jobs. But the same point remains. I took an enormous risk to try and be successful in less than even decent economic conditions. I made enormous sacrifices to try and make my own way in life. It really is pretty comparable. In fact, I have been working almost nonstop (with the exception of maybe 2 years while I was in undergrad and law school) since I was 13. I worked full-time (and overtime in many cases) while in undergrad and law school. You seem to diminish the success of those who have carved it out through hard work and sacrifice while focusing an abnormal amount of empathy upon those who have done little or nothing...this seems to be a somewhat consistent theme in your posts. You just don't get it man, you are priveleged, "they" are not. Don't you see the difference? This thread has been entertaining to read the last few days. Gotta say, I agree with the "wussification" point in the sense that political correctness/fear of offending anyone has meant that for the 85-90% of the country who are alike and share the same traditions and beliefs, we have to give in to those that are different. Instead of treating everyone equally, we allow our political leaders to just give up on those traditions/beliefs altogether, which is sad. Boys and can't be little boys anymore, Christmas has to be a holiday, etc. etc. Not sure why that point got lost and it switched to a class warfare discussion. Either way, YASNY I agree with your entire first post. Well done.
  14. Noah was awful when he played. Whether it was a bad matchup or not showing up, I'm not sure.
  15. Liked garnetts shove of noah afterwards too. Nice win, good game.
  16. Ill take it. f*** Boston.
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 18, 2013 -> 08:34 PM) Call a time out cant even run play to get ball in bounds. Anger level rising. A shame, this should have been a win. Losing Deng hurt.
  18. Ugh, i hate traveling in the NBA. It's not even close anymore. Just change the rule to three steps.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 18, 2013 -> 02:42 PM) Dude, you don't even have your jokes right. With Nagin you're supposed to make the joke about how its racially motivated. Come on, this is the "Chocolate city!" guy! I s*** you not I had "Looks like someone else didn't like black people either..." as my initial joke, but changed it. Poor decision on my part.
  20. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/...-nagin/1845617/ Well that's gotta be George W. Bush's fault...
  21. Groce has to be accountable for failing to coach these guys the game of basketball though. I'm sorry, but teams run the ball screen offense and when it's not working and the shots aren't falling, they call a set play. They try to do something to change momentum. I can't believe that a team talented enough to win big games earlier this year lacks the talent or drive to be able to run offensive plays. I just got the sense last night he was letting them play. That was what we heard about all pre-season - my system is to let players be loose and play their game. Well, that's great when you have a conference where everyone runs up and down like in the playground, but in the Big Ten teams play set basketball. They don't rely on one-on-one plays. Michigan runs offensive plays. Indiana runs offensive plays. They purposefully find guys in a variety of ways to get good shots. I'd be less disappointed if they were showing an ability to play organized basketball but simply not hitting shots. That happens. This team is doing neither at the moment and I don't see how they can win 7 or 8 more games playing like this.
  22. I don't see how we could possibly reach .500 in the conference at this point. Games against Nebraska and Penn State are no longer easy wins. Just embarrassing. If there was any talent on the bench I'd say bench the seniors and start working towards next year. But I think Groce is stuck. And while I don't want to blame Groce, since this season epitomizes what Richardson/Paul/Griffey have done while at Illinois (playing well out of conference, being wretched in conference) - the lack of any offensive or defensive scheme is pretty troubling, as is the lack of improvement over time. That's the way these guys have been the last 4 years, but Groce does nothing to help the team other than scowling at the officials. There are no offensive sets that are being run when the team needs a basket. They're not running or forcing tempo. They are AWFUL defensively with few adjustments being made. They're not even competitive anymore. It's run down the court, pass the ball once or twice, get a ball screen, jack up a shot, go back on defense. They average less than a point per possession the last 6-7 games. Abrams disappeared. Bertrand has been in a funk the last several games. Egwu can't stay out of foul trouble. We have no PF. Our bench players have one dimensional skills, and that's being generous. I like to think i'm overreacting but other than Ohio State they really haven't been "good" since the Missouri game. And it's pretty clear that game against Ohio State was much more about Ohio State not showing up than Illinois playing really well.

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 05:23 PM) I never watched Archer, but I'm an H. Jon Benjamin fan. Is it a serial, or can you just jump in? Then you'll love the season 4 premiere. Season 1 and 2 are on Netflix, I'd imagine season 3 will be on there shortly. You gotta start at the beginning though to get 75% of the jokes/references/mannerisms of the characters that make the show great.
  24. Jesus. Hey Groce, it's called running an offensive set. Try it sometime.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jan 17, 2013 -> 03:07 PM) This has always worked for me as well. New episode of Archer tonight. Any other Archer fans here? Yes. I'm excited. One of the best comedies on TV right now.
