  2. Lol, this country is so f***ed up
  3. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 12, 2012 -> 08:39 PM) It was on tds and colbert and talked about on most of the liberal or leftist blogs I read. So 15% of the population
  4. Do people still think Lin is a flash in the pan?
  5. What a poorly officiated half on both ends. No rhythm at all
  6. Bulls playing half a step slow tonight.
  7. Yet very little news coverage....
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 12, 2012 -> 12:50 PM) Or "The shoe company paying me $200 million over the next 10 years doesn't want me playing on the same team as the guy they're paying $300 million over the next 10 years". I thought Rose's deal was also $200 million? Let's face it folks, Simmons hit the nail on the head a while ago - stars these days want to be stars more than champions/legends of the sport. They're more concerned about their brand than the number of titles they have. Sad, but true.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 12, 2012 -> 09:19 AM) I'm glad that they're using Dale better in death, though. Hmm, good points. I was also thinking about all the of the dead people (not zombies) in the traffic jam.

That episode was absolute torture for the first 30 minutes, and then great the last 30 minutes.
  13. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 11, 2012 -> 09:30 AM) I would be okay with that. I also heard Shaka is definitely interested in the Illinois job, but it will come down to cash. They better not be cheap about it. Offer 2 per for 6 years with incentives for titles and deep tourney runs
  14. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 10, 2012 -> 03:05 AM) Someone tell Tom Izzo to shut up. Why?
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 9, 2012 -> 04:30 PM) It really doesnt matter, Wisconsin doesnt have a job opening. But the next Illinois coach is going to have to beat Matta and Izzo for recruits, let alone Bo Ryan. Illinois needs to invest in their stadium. The stadium is the exact same as it was 8 years ago when it was the best home court in the sport. The problem was the teams and players sucked/suck. I agree that some updating would be nice, but THE Assembly Hall is an iconic sports arena. What they really need to do is give the big middle finger to the big donors and move them up about 10 rows, drop the floor about 10 feet, and create a true bowl of orange krush fans all the way around the court. Yeah, the site lines might suck, but they're drunk kids jumping up and down, they won't care. It's so annoying watching a nationally televised game and you see 25 feet of empty space behind the announces and half of section A is empty. Count me OUT of they build something like Value City Arena, where it's all glitz and glamor but the atmosphere itself kinda stinks and there are empty seats everywhere.
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 9, 2012 -> 02:25 PM) The Top 3: 1. Shaka Smart- The man, the myth, the legend. 2. Reggie Theus- See my previous post. The real home run here, and still leaves you with a great chance at Jabari. 3. Brad Stevens- This might be his only chance to coach at a capable Big Ten program for a long time. The others: - Buzz Williams, Marquette: Has done a nice job at Marquette, but I feel like he's far from a home run. - Frank Martin, Kansas State: He sure is intense. - Greg Marshall, WSU: Don't know if Illinois would go the MVC route again. - Chris Collins, Duke: Duke assistants haven't really done well for themselves. - Anthony Grant, Alabama: He hasn't done well enough at Alabama to deserve consideration. The long-shots to crazy - Mick Cronin, Cincinnati: Doesn't get along with Mike Thomas, apparently. Not sure he would excite many anyways. - Randy Bennett, St. Mary's: Career left coast guy doesn't really fit here. - Sean Miller, Arizona: Is your wife still allergic to desert air? - Scott Drew- Baylor: I think he may be a little ethically-challenged. - Lon Kruger, Oklahoma: Would be a nice choice for a return trip to Champaign. - Billy Donovan, Florida: Speaking of coaches Illinois has stolen from Florida. - Jerrance Howard, Illinois: I'm sure people will call for him if Illinois were to miraculously win the NIT. Just no though. - Bill Self, Kansas: Will inevitably be a free man after Kansas loses to a 15 seed. Someone on the Big Lead had a good comparison between Marshall and Smart and concluded that Marshall would be the best fit because of his system. Basically his argument was that Shaka's defensive philosophy is run all over the place and wreak havoc. However his defensive rebounding has been bad. Marshall on the other hand has been in the top 40 nationally the last few seasons in that category. So you gotta wonder if Smart's system will work in a Big Ten where the games are decided in the half court. I'd go 110% for Stevens. The guy beat powerhouse programs left and right the last two years with good but not great players. He's one of the better set play coaches out there. And he's clearly able to make in game adjustments. As you say, this is probably his one good shot at getting into a Big Ten school for a while (unless he wants to go to a program like Minnesota, Nebraska, etc....where recruiting will be difficult. But i'm confident that this has .0001% chance of happening because he's white and Thomas is going to feel pressured to bring in a minority coach.
  17. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 9, 2012 -> 11:40 AM) I've thought about it, but at this point, I wouldn't care. I'll gladly take 3-5 years of legit excitement in the program with a chance at a National Championship game doing things the wrong way over another 5 years of mediocrity doing things the right way. I don't care if the appearances are taken away either because that won't take away the excitement and experience of those 3-5 years. I don't think Smith is ready, but I'd gladly put him in a Wayne McClain role. I'd hold onto Jerrance Howard as well. You're crazy. Then we're back to the 1990's. It took Illinois a decade to get back to national prominence. No thanks. I'd rather go through the early 00's (sweet 16's and elite eights) with an NC run once a decade than be irrelevant for 8-10 years.
  18. Illinois shouldn't interview a single coach from Chicago. Might as well start prematurely slapping self-imposed bans for the future if you're going down that road.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 9, 2012 -> 10:25 AM) How about bring Milik Yarborough #pipedreaminvolvingsmokingmeth Seriously though, firing Weber lowers Illinois chances of Parker and Yarborough greatly from people I have talked to. Their parents really like Bruce. Parker's parents just had a story in the suntimes or the tribune basically stating that Illinois would be out of the picture without Weber. Obviously that could change, but that's tough to take. I'll pass on Shaka. Give me Brad Stevens, who I think we have a better shot at honestly (though both are slim to none). Stevens just got a reality check to what a ten year run at Butler will look like when Indiana is back to full strength (i.e., no recruits). Shaka has a tie to Thomas, as Thomas hired him at Akron years ago. But he's taking a second VCU team to the dance. He's making millions. He's got a long term contract at a school with minimal expectations. He'd be walking into a "OMG YOU HAVE TO WIN NOW, WE'RE THE BEST SCHOOL EVER" crazy fanbase. I just hope Illinois ponies up some real money for a real coach. Something in the 2-2.5 million range. If you're going to contend annually for the big ten title, you better be up there with MSU/OSU/IU in salary.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Mar 9, 2012 -> 06:13 AM) White bread toasted, creamy peanut butter, and blackberry jam. As far as other combinations featuring peanut butter? Peanut butter and bacon on toast. Delicious. Preach!
  22. QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 8, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) rose is playing like s*** Some of you will rip on me for this, but derek sometimes pushes it a bit too much and takes bad/wild shots....he pushes the envelope when he gets amped up alot....he was 4/17 after the first quarter yesterday, and 5/17 tonight Its something he is improving on (he did it quite often 2 years ago)....but the last 6 quarters hes really labored IMO Agree to a certain extent, but he's getting hacked with no calls tonight
