Big 10 Tournament
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 05:03 PM) I don't trust Bruce Weber anymore after this season. They had enough talent to easily have 5 or 6 more wins right now, but for whatever reason they just didn't show effort for large portions of the season. In theory, they'll have enough talent to be really good for a long time, but Bruce has lost all of my trust because this might be the first time where one of his teams underachieved at Illinois. I guess you could make an argument for 2008, but I think they just sucked. you're crazy. He's played 3 freshman with significant minutes. They're the 2nd youngest team in the conference. I dunno how you could have expected more.

Technology catch-all thread
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 04:23 PM) How was .mp3 an exclusive format? Are you thinking of .AAC? I'm saying it was their .mp3-like format that was unique to them.

Technology catch-all thread
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 04:11 PM) Maybe you thought it was superior back then, but it's certainly up for debate now, as they are plenty of competitors with products just as good, for a cheaper price, but just are not as popular. That would be part 2 of Apple's world domination plan: Itunes. Everyone bought an Ipod, Apple went exclusive with its .mp3 format, the music industry was forced to buy into it, everyone went through years of buying their music through it, and even though competitors slowly started to make better products, the fact is everyone already had lots of $$ invested in music that is only playable through Apple products. Now you can get drm free Itunes music, but none of the old stuff you bought is transferable. But that's assuming those products are equal or better than the Ipod/Itouch/Iphone/Ipad, which IMO, they just aren't. Apple makes their products fun to use. Mac's on the other hand are just annoying to use as a daily PC.

Big 10 Tournament
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 01:04 PM) Tom Crean walked by Matta without shaking hands, Matta didnt do that at all in this game, I am watching the handshake line right now. And watching the replay again, he's yelling towards Hightower. 11-2 vs UM. Nasty Pssh. Wrong. Go to espn.com and watch the replay. Matta starts yelling and pumping his fists in the air and THEN Hightower rushes over from behind to tell him to go back to his bench. I dunno who he was yelling at. Either the Michigan bench (why?) or maybe someone at the table who he felt tried to end the game early? Either way, pretty f'n classless to act like that when your team had to have a miracle shot to win a game against an under .500 team

MLB 10: The Show
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 11:55 PM) I completed every advancement goal since about mid-June. I got the same email almost every advancement period about being ready, but keeping me in AA to boost confidence.... Have you tried asking your manager for a change or more playing time or a trade? That worked for me in 2008 RTTS. Not sure if they tweaked that in this version though.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 11:54 PM) I've never agreed with anything in this thread more. He seems to do every game in Bloomington, it's frustrating. His biggest problem is his ego. He was completely out of position and wasn't even looking at the end of an "and 1" of McCamey's last week, despite the fact that the other official RAN over to him to say "hey the ball went in, the basket should count." Dude just shook his head and said no. Clueless.

Whoever said Alex is hot, I agree 100%. Too bad she's bangin' Jeff Goldblum, who's 35 years older!

From the guy that writes the AV Club reviews (one of the best ones IMO): "As I’ve said, I’m growing accustomed to the flash-sideways as a storytelling/theme-developing concept, but an episode like tonight’s reminds me what we miss by eliminating the possibility of flashbacks for our main characters. Simply put, I would’ve like to have seen more of Ben’s rise to power on The Island, not the shadow-version we got in “Dr. Linus.” Maybe Richard’s story will fill in some of the blanks." That's kind of my view of the flash sideways stuff. It's ok, but I'm much more interested in other things that they're just not going to get to.

LOST!!!!
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 02:48 PM) Long time Lost fan, watched and enjoyed every season. This one is terrible, sorry but it is. Introducing new characters for seemingly no reason, and completely taking one of the best bad guys on TV in Ben and basically making him a non-story. Sorry, but this season is poorly written and IMO making the show hard to watch. Tonight's a Ben episode, but I agree. There's been too many slow episodes. Still, we're only 1/3 of the way through. I'm sure it'll pick up the last half.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) I love this guy's theory. I like everything but the last part. There's no evidence Jacob is Jack. Nor would that make sense at this point. Moreover, I have to believe the "game" is more than just killing the MIB. There has to be something bigger than that at stake.

MLB 10: The Show
I think hitting has more to do with the left stick than timing. If I "square up" and hit the ball in that zone, regardless of the timing I seem to get a hit. I also think that the reality of the game comes out - the 1st and 2nd guys are really tough, but the 4th and 5th guys aren't so bad. But yeah. Timing is a biatch. I think playing tons of games is the only real solution.

MLB 10: The Show
Has anyone pitched a no-no in this series yet? I had 2008's version and got to the 8th twice, but both times my pitcher lost his energy and I was lucky to get it across the plate.

I give them a 5% chance to win against WIS. Even if they do though, I dunno that I want them in the tourney. At best they're a 10-12 seed, which just means they'll get trounced in the first round. Who knows, maybe this'll become a Hoosiers moment and with elimination truly on the line, they'll put together a couple of nice wins and make something of this roller coaster season. This line of thinking/belief is why I hate being a sports fan. Totally delusionsal, but I can't help myself.
-
Official 2009-2010 NCAA Basketball Thread
they need one. they'd have 4 wins over the top 25, which is better than the majority of tourney teams, let alone the bubble teams. no way they get left out.

MLB 10: The Show
Are you guys playing all of the games or simulating through most of the season? I started up a C/1B and it takes FOREVER to get through a game. Being able to play catcher is great, but I liked RTTS when it took 10 minutes to play.

LOST!!!!
I'm one of those people that are whining about it. I fully understand that it will all connect in some way, and that it will be creative/interesting enough that I'll like it. But the fact is 50% of each episode is completely and utterly BORING. It would be different if they had MORE hidden clues about the connection (like Jack looking in the mirror/checking out his cut, Kate looking at Jack like she'd seen him before, etc). But instead they're writing it basically like "here's the character you've gotten to know, now we're just going to throw him into a different situation....but keep watching! After 12 hours of sitting through this stuff, we'll be sure to tell you how it all connects." People were all wowed about characters coming back, but I dunno, I just don't care about Keamey being an evil guy exthorting Sayid's brother, or that Jin is in the freezer, or whatever else happens in this sideways world. It's minimal whining given the strength of the series and of the on-island stuff this season, but it's still a legitimate gripe i think.
