QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 3, 2015 -> 12:10 PM) How did you feel about this team 10 years ago? Bolds- new to the Sox Podsednik, Iguchi, Everett, Konerko, Dye, Rowand, Pierzynski, Crede, Uribe Gload, Harris, Perez, Ozuna, Widger Buehrle, Garcia, Contreras, Hernandez, Garland Politte, Cotts, Vizcaino, Marte, Hermanson, Takatsu DL- Thomas Cautiously optimistic but not a feeling like KW hit homeruns on multiple off season moves like this year. I remember thinking he did an okay job of adding some pieces but didnt have grand expectations in the least bit.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 3, 2015 -> 10:58 AM) Disgusting. I hope he wins 3 rings for us and shuts everyone up and goes down as one of the most loved Bears ever!!! It really is disappointing. You would think the people there bidding on things arent there because they really want all that crap but because they want to donate for the cause. And their hatred for Cutler exceeds their willingness to donate for the cause they are looking to support? Its laughable to me but whatever...its their money.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 11:02 AM) I was doing some fact checking on winning teams and found this interesting tidbit: at the end of the season and the playoffs and World Series only one team out of thirty ends up winning it all. Begs the question "in the end how do you judge success?" If at the end of the season I look back and say to myself...damn that season sucked and didn't turn out how we thought it might then it wasn't a success. A win total or a playoff run doesnt have to define the success. I think they can have a successful season and not even make the playoffs to be honest. Be in the race until the end and just came up short but at the very least play hard, stay healthy, and have guys perform close to their projected numbers...with some development of young players along the way.

Damn. I want it all.

I can see it now! Samardzija is gonna suck. Sale will probably be injury plagued. Abreu will have like 10 HR's by September. Cabrera will be suspended. Eaton will be stuck on a wall somewhere. Alexei will get traded for some dope. Micah wont be God. Robertson will be demoted to set-up man then long relief. Penny will be in the rotation. Bryant will be MVP. Cubs in playoffs. fathom will have permanent diarrhea. Dick Allen will find no use for being argumentative any longer. kyyle will transition to a woman... etc. etc..

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 10:47 AM) thanks a lot captain buzzkill I am a bowl of sunshine today. Like totally.

Its seems like any year in the past that there were high expectations and a buzz around the Sox the season ultimately ended in disappointment. Whenever the overall view of the team is that they greatly improved on paper through FA or trades it just doesn't translate to wins and success. I really hope that this isn't just another one of those years.

Is De La Puente still under contract? He seemed like he could be a solid C in the league.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 09:18 AM) Per Brad Biggs, Roberto Garza has been informed he will be released. It was a quality career in a Bears uniform for that man Wasn't he resigned by Emery right before he was fired?

Listening to an audio snippet of Pace being interviewed about the McDonald signing and I kind of had to cringe. He sounded like a teenager with the way he was talking. He said "We take these things seriously, ya know? But uuummm...". It was the first time I though to myself man I hope this guy didnt dupe us into thinking he was smart. LOL I know its being overly critical just wanted to put it out there. It wasnt just the words he used but it was the way he said them as if he is an aww shucks type of guy.

Bernstein has had plenty of comments on air objectifying women and to be honest it always feels kind of weird when he goes down that road. He is just creepy about it. I have thought to myself if my wife heard me on the radio talking about women like that she would have knocked me into next week. And like many have said, coming from Bernstein who is critical of EVERYONE it just makes this even more of a hypocrisy.
-
You know, with people like Bernstein who are so extremely critical of everything others say or do will ultimately face the same scrutiny in the end. He brought this upon himself in more ways than one.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 04:25 PM) The real hypothetical then is what we'd do if Rodon was in the same situation next year. I think there was a verbal agreement that he would be in the majors by at least the end of this season and into next when they signed him. At least that is the speculation among the media.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 01:43 PM) Are SoxTalk awards still a thing? Nope. There wasn't a ton of participation from the members and it was a lot of work for knightni when he was basically organizing and doing the whole thing.
-
I bet Pace is probably already regretting the signing of McDonald. Honeymoon is over and welcome to the big city of Chicago with a passionate fan base and critical media, sir.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 24, 2015 -> 04:19 PM) Kris Bryant homer (profundo) numero nueve....en fuego. LOL He is going to be one of the top hitters in the game this year. There is no question about it in my mind.
-
FWIW Mcaskey talked with McDonald's parents before the signing to get a better feel of the man. Also he apparently bought his own plane ticket to fly out and speak with Pace. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/03/24/bea...ersial-signing/

Point is, the Bulls arent going to be bad anytime soon. They may be in basketball hell the next few years by having a really good team but never quite good enough to compete for the title but it will at least be something to watch.
