  1. I really wished Kenny had held out for Clay Bucholz. Anderson and future considerations should have gotten that done. /sarcasm
  2. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 03:41 PM) It's Brian Anderson. Read the reactions of Red Sox fans, they're mostly like "who cares." It's a nothing trade for them, but Kotsay was done in Boston anyhow...he helped them no more, served no real purpose. They don't care is probably the worst reaction, but none are gonna gripe about getting a former high draft pick who plays good CF (though he'll never hit I agree) for a guy they designated out.
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 03:32 PM) Kotsay is 33? How is this a youth movement deal? LOL...I need to do the colors for sarcasm. I am disapointed. I know Anderson isn't the next great one like some thought, but it seems we could have gotten something better than a guy recently DFAd, who is hobbled, aging, and pure bench fodder at best. Our team gets older but not better.
  4. Sox heading in the youth movement. Kenny couldn't have gotten anything better than this? A AA prospect? Anything?
  5. Wash Times is bird cage fodder. Always has been, this is the type of journalism to be expected from this paper.
  6. The last two performances by Richard have been brilliant. I would NOT remove him from the rotation given that he seems to really be putting it together.
  7. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 09:06 PM) paulie needs to pick up his triple right here Can he hit the ball over the fence and just stop at third?
  8. It was a routine groundout, but I appreciate how Thome was husting down the line. Thumbs up to Jim for doing it the right way.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxmanager @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:24 PM) no. when the flies are trapped in the screens i open the screens to let them out. but i like the idea. I am very humane and like you don't like to kill animals without mercy and compassion, but letting go of trapped flies is just a little much...why???? -They are not an apex species -They are not even close to being under populated -Their gestastion and generation times are VERY short meaning they can replinish VERY quickly (unlike whales or elephants) I appreciate your perspective dude, I really do...but when you talk about saving 'house flies' you won't gain any converts to your cause. Show the butchering Sarah Palin promotes and then you'' win some support, but 'common people' nor scientists are gonna join your protect the house flies agenda. One last note...Being a vegetarian (which I am not) and being opposed to hunting IS NOT about PETA...they are clowns.
  10. QUOTE (wilmot825 @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) Mark Buehrle doesn't hunt just deer.....he kills bears, f***ing bears! How is that not tough or likeable? I honestly don't care what Mark does, but hunters are not 'tough' in the least...OH, im gonna sneak up on some bear, shoot him dead while he's licking his ass or feeding her cubs and then Im going to stuff it with him/her bearing its claws and teeth and tell you THIS is the animal I shot. LMMFAO... That all said, even if Mark killed puppies for fun I'd probably still love the guy.
  11. Jenks has an era that NO closer has ANY business in having. Sentiment or not, this guy is trash at this point. A 4.33 era is laughable. It's amazing how baseball is....'establish yourself as a closer' and you can literally SUCK for weeks on end. No thought to changing roles to 'figure out what is wrong'...NO...in this sport, the worse you are matters not, if you're the closer we'll continue to give you the opportunity to fook up the team. I have ALWAYS hated this 'position'....always will. And 'closers' are mostly pitchers who aren't good enough to be starters anyway, so why worry about their damn egos. DEMOTE Him (at least for now until he figures out how to get outs)....OR aren't we TRYING to win an AL Central?
  12. Time to demote Jenks...he's garbage right now. Sorry Ozzie, that I hurt your guys feelings and Bobby was/is an integral part of this team, but he's terrible at this point. Yet another win we had, HE BLEW. He's absolutely brutal at this point, barely worth a spot on a ML roster. Again...sorry to be critical Ozzie...I know that fans have only been doing that well...since baseball was invented, so your peabrain SHOULD be able to recognize our frustration. 4.33 era for a closer is pathetic.
  13. What an encore for Mark's perfect game.
  14. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 02:45 PM) That could work for sure. Reward him with eats. Lol for sure. .... Whatever the heck it takes.
  15. QUOTE (DanksFan @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) Gordon needs to be a bit more patient with bases loaded nobody out. Oh well... he's learning. He was also faced against one of the more imposing righties in the game...Good as baseball is in the Southeastern Conference, he's never faced an arm like Verlanders.
  16. QUOTE (Jimmywins1 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 02:42 PM) Verlander is a f*cking machine, too bad Leyland is going to blow out his arm by constantly pitching him into the 115-125 range. Pitchers used to do that all the time. I think it's over-rated. Verlander will remain healthy if it's 'in the cards' for him. So far, he's been pretty durable.
  17. Ball game. Wise had a tough battle and gotta give him props...he fouls off a 101 mile per hour fastball and then an 80 mph curve. Plus he made a reasonably big catch yesterday. Lets get this one tonight...tell Colon he gets a free pass to the local buffett if he pitches well.
  18. My god, Verlander is still bringing it....Game day says 101 miles per hour.
  19. QUOTE (3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 02:34 PM) Curious if we will now put up the tease and score like 3 (though I guess that would be good if you believe in doubleheader momentum, lol) It's starting off like that. First two runners aboard. LMAO.
  20. Detroilet is just the better team in this game. Shake it off and get the game tonight and we're right back tied for first.
  21. QUOTE (SAVVY18 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 02:18 PM) I want to have faith in Thome, but it is getting harder and harder to do. He's aging...he's an old hitting warrior out there, but is not near as imposing as he once was...He's looking like a sub .250 hitter at this point on pace for 20-25 homers. His time is winding down sad to say. Sure, he's still having good moments here and there, but he's a very average cleanup hitter at this point to say the least.
  22. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 02:16 PM) Our guys are just hacking away today. Considering his pitch county by the 3rd innings, it a joke that he is still out there in the 8th inning. You realize he is at 110...he could actually complete this game. The Sox game plan today was hideously bad. As you infer, he should have been gone innings ago.
  23. LOL at that inning. Thome is shooting for sub .250 average now, moving into Swisher terrority.
