My two cents which I know will be in the minority. I say if you can;t sign this guy by the trade deadline and we are out of it, then trade him and get something. Also if the dodgers would like to give me: Perez Jackson Miller Mota I would trade his ass in a chicago Second. Even if they don't throw in mota I would trade him. Net net, if KW feels we won't sign him we need to get something for him. I don't care who is right, KW or Maggs. Get soemthing in return, do not take a chance he walks without something in return.

Steff, What a kind thing to say. I hope our paths cross this summer. I am a season ticket holder, so I am there alot. You were delightful.

I was at the saturday session and came away with a couple of notes. First it was great meeting Steff and her husband. I found her very knowledgeable and a delightful person. That said, I had an interesting conversation with Hawk as he was preparing to sign at the Fox booth. I commented I thought we would have a difficult time this year. He completely disagreed and sited the following things as keys: 1) No more jerry Manual. He said we finally got a manager that knows what he is doing. His words not mine. 2) Garland will win 15 or more this year. I calmly stated that he was suppose to win 15 last year. He said Manual is not there to screw him up. He expects a big change in Garland. 3) Said Ozzie will do what Tony Pena did to KC last year. 4) Aggressiveness on the basepaths. He said we will manufacture more runs than in previous years. I realize that this is all marketing bulls***, but I hope he is right.

I agree, this is a shame. Baseball is selling out on all accounts.
-
shoot me an email on where your getting your info. I don't think The trib is into conspiracy theories. I may not like them but I don't know about that theory. PS - I agre with the article. - All the newspapers are putting pressure on this org, because they deserve it.
-
Great vandenburg is a sox fan, so your saying it was to get us riled up before the massive event this weekend? It worked. I should be in rare form
-
No but the more good press you ahve the more people may come to the games
-
I love this article and the ones I posted earlier this week from the Daily Herald. They are dead on and the pressure is mounting for the SOx to do soemthing. I do not think JR will sell the team anytime soon. I believe they are making money or perks or something, in addition the Brewers are for sale and so are the Dodgers. The Sox won't sell as until these teams are bought. In fact they won't sell at all. We are very dedicated fans but managment needs to recognize this fast. It may come tumbling down for them soon if they don't
-
again the whole point of the article is they run there organization like s***. I won't be there on Sunday, I will e there on saturday. Am I not a true sox fan? Let me know then refund me my season tickets. The Whitesox are second in this town, they need to do it better than the Cubs or any other sports team. They need to find ways to get people motivated and enthused. They need to do it better.
-
Please, True sox fans? Please, I am a true sox fan but it appears there are only 12,000 of us, therefore the point is don't do it on that weekend if you want to draw in more people. I agree, with the entire article. For the record I have been a "true" soxfan since 1969, doesn't mean the sox are not stupid.

Gaylord Perry?

Whoopie it just tell us nobody is going on sunday because the idiots scheduled this thing on super bowl sunday. Great I can't wait to stand in line

http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/col_rozn...?intid=38013174 Once again I am in complete agreement. The Sox need to learn how to speak to the public and the fans. Right now they suck at this and this newspaper is calling them out. Kudos for the Daily Herald to tell it like it is. They are right.

I have many work colleagues in seattle. The buzz out there is that they will now get pudge. They were waiting for sasaki thing to be completed. THis is also why pudge has not signed with detriot.
-
Jim excellent point, which is why we need to move Maggs now.
-
Jimbo, I already wrote him a mail. Falls on deaf ears, anyway, I don't go to Comiskey to look at women but please don't tell me that we have better looking women than wrigley.
-
Actually it appears that you are taking bits and pieces from several responses. In fact I feel what I personally was saying is the Sox org is in disarray from top to bottom. If in fact the sox continue to point to fans as a problem then this disarray will continue. To summarize: The sox need help with: The Media. Management. the Minors Marketing and payroll. yes i think JR should look into selling. But that is beside the point. The real point is they have made a number of mistakes and they continue to do so. I offered different ways to increase the casual fan something which escapes the Whiteosx today. I also believe that increasing the season ticekt base is crucial but that will not happen unless you put a good ballclub on the field. Eitherway you feel I find the articule very sound.

Totally agree!

Great points by all - Lets look at chicago from a casual fan standpoint. I am not saying this is all true or right but looking at it from a casual fan standpoint. 1) Wrigleyville- great place to spend a weekend, lots of eats , bars, and women. 2) Aura of wrigley - Won't go away but still needs to be considered. 3) Fun in the Sun lots of great looking women. Us cellular lacking big time on good looking women. 4) Great promotions. beannie babies and so on. 5) "cubbies" appeals to kids. Ask my kids. Are you a stinky socks fan or a Cute cubbie fan. 6) Money- Money surrounds Wrigleyville. And these casual fans go to the games then go out partying. Ok what is the way to appeal to casual fans when these other things are not available to you? 1) Put a team on the field prior to the season that people can get excited about. Spend money and get into the playoffs. This works all the time. 2) market better. What there doing isn't cutting it. fire Gallas and get somebody to change things around. I hear this year they will heavily market to the mexican community. Fine, but that won't work. The mexican communitee although fine people do not have the cash to put you over two million fans. Market to that communittee in that communittee, not in mass media. That doesn't appeal to me personally and won't make me buy more tickets. I can see it now a commercial with Ozzie saying something in spanish and english. Great, big appeal. Target market Ozzies message to those communittees. 3) Make the park and surroundings safer. I know that it is safe but the perception is that it is not. Change it fast. 4) I want my kids to say Dad its beannie baby day can we go? Or its Daddy daughter day Can we go? Appeal to the kids. Target kid channels on TV with a message that will appeal to kids. 5)Management needs to personally appeal to the people. they are statues and are untouchable. Dusty Baker was the best thing that happened to the Cubs. His kid roams around the park and looks cute. Dusty appeals to the casual fan. Its like a family over there. 6) Use the media better. The sox do not use the media to there advantage. 7) Don't schedule Sox fest on superbowl weekend- Dumb asses. 8) Quit being cheap with everything. You look cheap, you draw cheap. 9) Don't mess up- The seat debacle this year was a mess. 10) Build from within. Fans like young players that are there's. They want to grow up with there own players. (Prior, Wood, Buerhle, Maggs, Lee, Thomas, Zambrano, Rowand, Crede, Durham, Patterson. Fans glob onto these guys.

I will attend sat.

Dumbest chant I ever heard. This will be the last year for that!
-
Amen and dead on. The minor league system sucks. But Wilder will hcange that? s*** he did wonders with the brewers! Yea right. Anyway, we ahve either traded our minors or not developed them properly. Its too bad. These guys take way to long to develop, they hit walls and can't get through them, they get injured more now than in the past. Why? Dumb luck? no can't be all dumb luck. Look within, somehting is wrong with this entire org.
-
Jimbo, I am in one of those moods. My sense of humor just gleems!!!!!!!!!!
-
Not only developing but keeping young players. We used to be real good at it. See Ron schuler regime and Roland Hemond Regime. At least we could add a player from our Minor league system each year.Another article in the same paper was on Whitesox marketing. I think Rob Gallas actually sucks. His commercials blow and this year they will focus on Ozzie Guillen as a main drawing and focal point. That is just great. Ozzie Guillen was no super star, and quite frankly if they did there homework Ozzie doesn't appeal to the masses. I also feel they will rely on the ballpark renovations to help bring in fans THIS year. People will come out to see the park but if the baseball sucks they won't come back. That simple. You want people to come, Build some euphoria with your minors, Spend money on a stud pitcher, get one more big name free agent with marketing power, and quit acting like your the Detriot Tigers. Grow the f*** up. Act like your a class organization. Surround your coaching and mangement staff with professional Baseball people. Big screen TV's with pizza games only go so far. Oh yeah... Jose jose jose jose jose jose jose jose....Please give me a break. Stupid asses.
-
Rex, I agree and the two things that tells us is: 1) We overpaid for the players we had. 2) Our minor league system does not churn out enough or good enough players. Eitherway, we are being mismanaged.
