easiest "over" ive ever seen that was like stealing money good win though -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 01:32 AM) It's such a toss-up with him. When he's on, he's an absolute ace #1, no doubt. Then there is those nights where he doesn't have the best control but still pitches well enough to only give up 2-3 runs, which I'd say would be a solid #2. The main problem is that he mixes in too many of those "I have nothing tonight and give up 8 runs" games. for about a month after he came back he was probably a number 2 at worst. but he was working quickly and using his fastball and not droppng down as much in his last 3 starts hes been pitching like a 5 or worse cuz hes been walking way too many guys and being timid on the mound. Jose has done everything you could ever ask from a pitcher for this organization (lead us to a world series, volunteer to go to the minors to refine his game so he could still compete, etc.) but at the end of this season, its time for him to move on. thanks for everything jose but good bye

why does every yankees game draw so well? is it cuz theres more yankee fans here and they go and fill up the park? or is it getting to see a team that won 25 championships in their history but none inthe recent past. i dont get it -

I bet beckham goes 5/5 with 5 doubles -
Im a big fan of getz, want him on the team and actually endorse the trade alexie(hopefully netting 1 or 2 bigtime prospects) and keeping a middle infield of getz/beckham for a longggg time. but wtf was chris doing on that ground ball where he broke to his right and the ball was hit to his left? has there been any explanation of this yet?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 11:41 AM) Let's specify here...by "Most", you mean "61%" based on the most recent data. 39% of murders in 2007 went without convictions. And probably a fair number of those were wrongful convictions, based on the overturn rate we see these days. He's got a legit shot. i think if you have no motive, and gil grissom isnt on your case, you could get away with it quite easily

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 11:45 PM) “The basics have been working, getting ahead," Holmberg said. "Ideally I like to try and bust hitters inside with the fastball, get their eyes going pretty fast. If they're behind a little with their swing I'll go with the same thing, fastball in. Then I'll change speeds with a changeup out or curveball down. That's ideal." Holmberg’s a guy who pitches in sequence, he relies more on control then power, but his frame is projectable enough to suggest room for growth in the 3 to 4 MPH range. Also, he's only 18 “Holmberg's fastball sits consistently at 87-88 mph, but can touch 91. He also has a very good curveball that has two-plane break and has shown feel for a changeup. At 6-foot-3, 220 pounds his body has some projection left that could lead to a little bit more velocity, though he'll rely on continuing to command his fastball and use it to set up his curve.” http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/high-...009/267784.html sounds like he could be a stud

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 11:31 PM) 1.) That leathery thing on either your left or right hand is for catching the ball. It is not a hat. 2.) When throwing the ball to a person wearing the same uniform as you, remember to try and aim the ball so it hits the glove. Bouncing it, kicking it, throwing it over the players head is not part of the equation. 3.) The club like thing is a bat, you swat it at the ball thrown by the man on the hill. 4.) There are no ghosts, boogeymen, or scary things at the Metrodome. Its like Walmart, including the pumped in sound effects. Try not to become the self fulfilling prophecy of suck. Try hitting the ball, catching the ball, and running around the bases. It is okay to hit past the 4th inning. "the name of the game is hit the ball, catch the ball, and get the f***in job done" -lee elia i too am sick of the overall attitude among fans announcers players and management that we cant win going into that dome. Its still baseball, even if it is indoors

this thread is borderline blasphemous

they could do a six man rotation for a few weeks and see whos pitching the worst out of colon/contreras/richard and then move that person to the bullpen/dl. edit: but it looks like they wont be doing this, with clayton moving to the pen

QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 07:37 PM) yeah but i still think his stats will be out Gordo's to this point if the season ended today true but beckham has a lot of time left to rack up the rbis since hes so adept at doing that
