  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 04:46 PM) Ozzie's latest rant: ESPN Chicago wow is he stupid. 1.) the Japan league is a lot more advanced and is closer to AA/AAA minor league ball than any baseball in Latin America. 2.) Most players brought in from Japan are already in their 20's, more advanced as baseball players. Most of the players signed from Latin America are younger than 20, sometimes when they are only 16. 3.) The MLB cannot afford, nor should it, pay for a translator for every latin player, there's far too many. Plus, spanish is a language that is a lot easier to learn and the 2nd language of America. Someone from Japan is coming to a country where language and customs are completely different, they need more help. Plus, how many Japanese and Asian, players are in American Professional Baseball?
  2. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 12:20 PM) As per Mr. Joe Cowley: cst_sox: Tuesday starter will be C.Torres. Not a bullpen night with Pena. who gets sent down?
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 06:41 PM) better than the village bicycle! But certainly not better than the village drunk... everyone loves the village drunk!
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 06:25 PM) If you could actually hold a conversation without freaking out like a 13 year old girl who didn't get Beiber tickets, you might actually get taken seriously more often than you get suspended. Go ahead and act like it is just me, but I am one of the few who actually argued for you to come back here when you came crawling back begging to get back in. I'm sorry, but if I recall correctly, I never asked you to do anything for me, and if you are going to hold something that you did on your own ambition over me, give me a freaking break. But thank you for arguing on my side. And if you are going to demean me and expect me to sit back and take it because we have different view points, well that doesn't fly with me, and I certainly won't let people try and treat me like the village idiot.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 06:19 PM) You know the next intelligent discussion you have on this board will be the first. You know the next time I give a s*** as to what you think will be the first. I'm sorry, I'm a big boy, your insults aren't going to make me cry. I don't agree with almighty southsider2k5, I'm not intelligent!!!! Let me go tell my mommy!
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 06:04 PM) Konerko is a goner because of Viciedo. Danks may well be a goner because he hasn't shown any interest in a long term contract. And as for the first line, you freaked out about the practical joke, so what does that mean? Almighty southsider2k5 knows everything! This is the first I've heard of Konerko being a goner. Yep, lets replace what has been a cornerstone on offense for the past decade with a cheap rookie/sophomore who, as much as I like, is far from a sure thing, even when said rookie/sophomore could fill the hole at 3B or DH instead. So, almighty southsider, who fills the 3B spot with Konerko gone? Morel? And what about DH? Move Quentin there? Then what about RF? Jones? Sounds like an even better offense than this years! And as for Danks, he hasn't shown any interest in a long term contract? Who the hell would be dumb enough to sign a contract extension now when they can make a lot more closer to their free agency years. And for someone who gave me so much s*** about assuming KW never really went after Berkman, how are you going to assume Danks has never shown any interest in staying here? Thats even a greater assumption as I have never seen or heard anything to indicate Danks wants to test free agency or leave the White Sox. And as for me not finding a god damn practical joke hilarious, I'm sorry. I'm a little bit more concerned with the future of this team.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) Kenny's been working for the past two weeks straight basically. It's called a tension breaker. Maybe once you get a real job you will realize what it's like to work in a high-stress environment. Please don't act like I'm some little kid who doesn't know s***. I know what a god damn tension breaker is. But I also know a GM who didn't do his job thus far. It'd be a shame if what holds us back this season is Kotsay and Jones. And it'd be a bigger shame if we have to trade Danks or let Konerko go in the offseason because we couldn't afford them with Edwin Jackson on the roster.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 05:51 PM) meh, i don't think there's an ownership in the league that doesn't have to approve an increase in salary. Oh, I know he had to approve of it. But some people are acting like JR said okay and increased the budget for next year. For all we know, JR doesn't care as long as we are under X amount next year. Plus, it's only a slight increase of about 1.5 million in budget this year.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 05:43 PM) It has zero to do with a damned practical joke. I guess I'm not in the mood for practical jokes when this team leaves the deadline with as many question marks as before, except with 8 million more dollars on the budget for next year.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 05:46 PM) That's exactly what you said. You said you didn't hear any rumors, therefore you were assuming that only Dunn was being talked to/about. I said: "So until I hear something official stating that we did go after Berkman earlier in the month, it's not that crazy of an assumption to make that we were focused on Dunn the whole time." I never said KW didn't start shopping until 2 days before the deadline. I said odds are Berkman was never really a target until later on, closer to the deadline.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 05:41 PM) So you believe Kenny just started shopping around two days ago because that is when the rumors started? Nevermind, it isn't even worth it. Yeah, cause I said that, right? From what I can take out of this whole deadline is that KW wanted Dunn right from the beginning, and was going for Dunn or nothing. Once we fell out of the Dunn sweepstakes (I'm gonna guess it was yesterday afternoon after the Nats said they didn't want Jackson), that's when we heard about Berkman declining a trade here and today when we heard that we were going after Manny.
  12. QUOTE (joeynach @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) The trade would have never have been approved by JR if he felt that was the case. I see this argument all the time, and I laugh. JR leaves so much trust and power in KW and Ozzie. I highly doubt he puts in much word over personal as you make it seem to be.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 05:34 PM) Seriously. Save the faux outrage for something worthwhile at least. No one can think that Kenny didn't give his full effort at the deadline. Okay, how about the fact that we were lied to by KW and he never fixed the DH situation, even though he told us it could easily be fixed at the deadline?
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 05:34 PM) How do you know we didn't? How do you know we did? I'm going off of everything I've read and heard, and for the most part, Berkman's name was only connected to the Sox in rumors for only the later part of July. Dunn on the other hand seemed to have been discussed for a while. So until I hear something official stating that we did go after Berkman earlier in the month, it's not that crazy of an assumption to make that we were focused on Dunn the whole time.
  15. If Hermida was good defensively, I'd take him because he couldn't be any worse than Kotsay at bat... but thats not the case.
  16. I just wonder if things would have been different if we went after Berkman earlier in the month.
  17. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 05:06 PM) With 30 minutes to go, Williams pulls a prank on Guillen, Beckham. From this you know there really was no action/conversation today about the guys Williams was interested in. Thats very comforting to hear... when we need a major upgrade at DH and with the trade deadline winding down, our GM is working on practical jokes.
  18. ZOMGZZZZ!?!##*(%$!!!! He threw 149 pitches in one game?????? His arm is gonna fall off!!!!!!!
  19. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:48 PM) OFFTOPIC: Sanchez seen huggin teammates in the Giant dugout Dunn to giants?
  20. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:48 PM) I will be sad if we have to give up Viciedo for a rental. I'd rather just install him as DH and say screw it. Thats a sweet pic you got for your avatar.
  21. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:28 PM) Washington needs to get real about a trade. They'll lose a valuable guy with nothing in return. They seem to be perfectly happy with 2 draft picks if they can't resign him.
  22. Kenny really f***ed up this deadline. He had no back up plan for Dunn and got played big time by the Nats and Rizzo (that will come back to bite them, but doesn't give Kenny a free pass). Now, he's a mess looking for another bat. What a f***ing joke. We've known for a fact, we needed a DH. KW was willing to let Ozzie have his way for the beginning of the season... And we all saw that this DH by committee thing was f***ing terrible. KW better get a legit upgrade at DH soon, or else I'm gonna nominate jordan4life's thread as thread of the year.
  23. Ramirez is a joke and I hope I never have to witness him in a White Sox uniform.
  24. Just go with citgo... they are run by the honorable humanist known as Hugo Chavez!
