Ahhh. Thanks. I was like "Whoa!!!"

Torre "selected" Loaiza over Buehrle? He can "select" all he wants, he wouldn't have gotten Buehrle for Contreras even if they threw in Proctor. Where did you hear that he "selected" E-Lo over Buehrle?
-
No, the Yankees made up a new name for it..."Lobbying."

Anyone who follows the show, I am thinking tonight Kathleen Madigan, Jay London and Gary Golman are out, leaving the last 3 as Tammy "Rack" Pescatelli, John Heffrom and Alonzo Bodden...with Alonzo the favorite to win it all next week.

I am SO in. Shingo should have the same bumper sticker that John Heffron from Last Comic Standing has: Yeah, dude...I ROCK!!!

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/baseball/184665_taco03.html Mariners are loving him and can't wait until he gets called up soon.

How could the Yankees not see that Loaiza was only hitting 87 as a high on the gun his last outing? Man, they must have been desparate, and whoever mentioned shades of Sirotka might be slightly right. He could go on the DL for the rest of the season by not disclosing to anyone if he is hurt. Nevertheless, he passed the physical.

http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c...b/misc/gold.htm According to these momos, the Yankees are among the WINNERS of the trade dealine, and WE are among the LOSERS. In fact, they have us at the top of the list!!! WINNERS NEW YORK YANKEES - They couldn't put together a trade to lure Randy Johnson from Arizona to the Bronx, but they did improve their starting rotation by acquiring Esteban Loaiza from the Chicago White Sox for the inconsistent Jose Contreras. Amazingly, it was a last-second deal that went down one minute before the 4 p.m. (et) deadline. Loaiza, who started the All-Star Game last year and made the Mid-Summer Classic again in 2004, is definitely an upgrade. In turn the Yankees rid themselves of a guy who was signed to a $32 million, four-year contract after defecting from Cuba in October 2002. Contreras' ERA is approaching the 6.00 mark. LOSERS CHICAGO WHITE SOX - Why would the White Sox trade away a guy who had 21 wins and a 2.90 ERA last season for a pitcher who has $17.3 million left on his contract? The Yankees are only contributing $3 million toward that deal. The White Sox though can take comfort that the Twins didn't make a move to upgrade their pitching at the deadline. HAVE THEY EVEN BEEN WATCHING LOAIZA PITCH THIS YEAR? OR THE 8 OTHER NON-WINNING YEARS HE HAD??

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...yson&id=1850117 3. Yankees A week ago, the Yankees were supremely confident they were going to go roaring into August with Randy Johnson in their rotation. Instead, they wound up with Esteban Loaiza. Not that there weren't sound baseball reasons for sending Jose Contreras (and $4 million) to the White Sox for Loaiza. Clearly, Contreras was never going to find that New York state of mind that allowed him to win the big October baseball games the Yankees live for. And Loaiza is a two-time All-Star. But he's also "not throwing very well," warned one AL scout. "He's lost velocity since last year." And another scout, asked to compare Loaiza's stuff to Contreras' stuff, said: "Not only does Contreras have better stuff. It's two grades better. Contreras has No. 1 stuff if he can ever figure out a way to be more consistent. If I'm the Yankees, I wouldn't feel real good at all about running Loaiza out there in October. He's a guy who has had one good year. And it just happened to be his contract year." The Yankees knew, heading for the deadline, they didn't have a win-the-World Series kind of rotation -- not unless Kevin Brown and Mike Mussina make a remarkable return to health. And now that the deadline has passed, they still don't have a rotation to rival the ones they brought to their previous half-dozen World Series. But what really makes them a deadline-day loser is that, if they'd just had a couple of big-time prospects, they would be sitting there with the Big Unit right now. Instead, we asked one scouting director to run through their system, level by level. And he couldn't find even one potential impact player. But that's the price the Yankees pay for constantly living for today -- until unhappy tomorrows like this one finally arrive. And as a Padres fan, seeing the Dodgers as the BIGGEST trade deadline loser really made my day. LoDuca and Mota were both Padres killers, and the fact that Charles Johnson wouldn't waive his no-trade clause really bit them in the ass. Twins also made the list by not getting Benson

I tell you what that Twins/Red Sox matchup today is going to have me flipping channels. Pedro vs. Johan? Man, that is gonna be one helluva duel. Pedro just better not choke.
-
No thanks. His year is probably finished.
-
Man I was a HUGE Loaiza supporter (SS2K can attest to that), but COTRERAS? Good Lord, can I pack your bags from Tijuana, E-Lo? Buh-Bye!!!! GREAT FREAKIN TRADE!!!!
-
I say the hell with it and get Floyd also. Maggs comes back and he can DH with Everett in CF splitting with Rowand and Floyd stays in right.
-
The Dodgers are in first place? Why would they trade a top 5 catcher for a prospect? They are making a run at Finley among other VETERANS they think can help them in the postseason. Forget LoDuca coming here.

But looks like we don't have enough bullets in the magazine. A bunch of teams report that White Sox GM Kenny Williams has inquired about nearly every right-handed-hitting outfielder who might be available. But an official of one team Williams contacted says that, after trading five prospects for Freddy Garcia and Carl Everett, the Sox don't have much left. "Their system has slipped," the official said. "They've traded away a lot of players. They've got some speed-gun arms at the lower levels. But there's no impact-type pitching down there. They have some outfielders (Joe Borchard, Ryan Sweeney). But they'd have a hard time finding enough to make a major deal, in our view."

Define big name. I think he will most definately get someone, but someone along the lines of an Olerud, Danny or Tony Bautista, Jay Payton or Klesko (if Pads make that 3-way deal for Finley), possibly even Larry Walker.

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/04210/353057.stm Looks like it's going to be the Rangers for Lance Nix.

3 days from when this thread got started and still not a word. "According to FSN" my ass.

Anyone from the LA area planning on seeing the September 10 - 12 weekend series at Angels stadium? I might be able to get us a good group rate if you don't have tickets already...

The Padres gave up him and Jason Bay, two future all-stars for Giles. If they were to even consider trading him, our farm system would be tapped out to the max. der

Suddenly, Cliff has had a string of good consecutive outings. Since June 21st he's only given up 1 earned run in almost 11 innings. Not alot of Ks like Flash brought into a game, but at least he's holding our leads as well as Marte, and ranked 5th in the AL in holds. He can be a huge key to our stretch run. We have all talked so much about the Garcia, Everett and Uribe additions plus the steady play of Rowand, but it's time to recognize Cliff because he's come such a long way since April 1.

Utility player Denny Hocking signed a minor-league contract with the Cubs. Oh yeah. That's the missing ingredient the Cubs have been missing. :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs

Ain't that the truth! If anybody, I'd be looking at a Batista or Hinske long before Castilla. Melvin Mora is a HUGE stretch, but KW can make it happen.
-
Like he wouldn't pick up half when Kendall was going to be traded to the Pads last year? der!
-
Who still doesn't think Jose is worth $5 million? WAY TO GO, MANOS!
