  1. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) You should change your closer's name. K-Rod no longer really fits. You should call him W-Rod now How about NO W-Rod
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 02:59 PM) Anyone know if some pro teams suspend season ticket holders for scalping their tickets... ? I've heard it so many times.. but wonder if it's just urban legend. During the Bulls run, the guys that had ten seats in front of me were three times threatened with losing their seats. Two of the instances were when they had guests sitting there. Greg brought the letters and asked us to respond and get the heat off them. But at the time the Bulls could have sold twice as many tickets to every game. I've heard the same stories about scalping. Since the Sox do not sell out season tickets, like the Bulls, I think it's Urban Legend. They may bump you back, but I doubt they would stop selling to you. Plus you could also have someone be a puppet and buy them for you.
  3. QUOTE(Beetle @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) Glad to hear that. Amid all the flack the Marlins get over their lukewarm attendance figures (a long story, believe me), I like to think that the phrase "quality over quantity" applies here. The fanbase is still growing, but the fans we have now are generally amicable and fairly knowledgeable. You want to talk attendance woes?? We have a team on the other side of the city that draws 2,000,000 to watch the clouds drift by while talking on their cell phones and getting wasted. Then a few baseball fans show up to really inflate the numbers. Y'all have a great franchise, as many WS Championships as teams that have been around 100 more years.
  4. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) Carl sits in the NL park. No brainer. Unless Ozzie has to make a pitching change and needs a pitch batter. Carl would probably be the first bat out of the dugout.
  5. We are arriving with everyone healthy and rested. The Astros aren't going to lay down, they can be beat, and they can beat. There will be some great matchups. I'm hoping they play a couple more before deciding a winner.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) Can you grab hold of a rainbow and put it into your pocket? NO, Such is the Rally Crede! But such is faith. Monuments have been built, alters erected, masterpieces have been painted, wars have been fought, and music has been written to glorify and remember our faith. Shouldn't the Rally Crede be accorded the same respect and honor? Hasn't the humble Rally Crede brought joy to tens of thousands of lives, most not knowing the Rally Crede was giving to them? The little guy seeks no publicity, asks no alms, but gives so much. On the spirit of Pants Rowland, Shoeless Joe Jackson, and all the faithful, GIVE US OUR RALLY CREDE MONUMENT!!!!!!!
  7. BTW, cool map.
  8. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:23 AM) Nice avatar! Most appropriate. I've been counting them down. I like the Bo "Ten" poster and the 5 Gold Rings the best so far. Aerosmith 9 Lives was also nice.
  9. QUOTE(Brettwurst @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:38 AM) If you're fortunate enough to win the Series, I assure you that the joy true ChiSox fans will feel is unparalleled. I never thought baseball influenced me as much as it apparently did and does. No more inferiority complex, added confidence, lessened pessimism, a monkey off your back ... and the reverse effect for your archrivals -- that's what 2004 did for us and that's what we hope 2005 does for you. It was fun to watch the Red Sox celebrate. The manner in which they won, was really a joy to see, and fueled by Yankee jealousy, was a cherry on top. When does the WS sink in?
  10. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) There needs to be a Rally Crede crest, or something. Rally Crede has GOT to go into the HOF. I believe by anonymous decree, the Rally Crede is in
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:19 AM) LMAO.. Half price for parking??? shhhhh, the kids are dreaming. How about 2X for parking, that's closer to the truth. Everything is more expensive during a WS.

  15. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:05 AM) LMAO - Tex, nice paste in of the RAL-LY CRE-DE!!!! Thank you. I was one of the early advocates of the Rally Crede and was feeling left out. I wonder if Joe has seen the Rally Crede? I wonder if BMAC or one of the guys has pointed it out.
  16. QUOTE(SoxRock05 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 09:54 AM) I am sorry, I am at Work and We work with Caps On.....Why Should it bother you so much......The Sox Have Just Won The Pennant.... Just helping the new guy out, and welcome to Soxtalk. All caps is shouting and asking for links to pictures isn't something to shout about. Oh, did they play last night

  19. Be kind to bandwagon jumpers. They are the fountain of life and the fans that will help us take back the city.
  20. Normally I would say there will be pitch hitting opportunities for Carl, but with all the CG being tossed, who knows? But Carl can take his shoes off and rest at the start of the game, Dye should and deserves to be starting every game.
  21. QUOTE(Brettwurst @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 09:12 AM) Hey folks ... I speak for most or all Red Sox fans in saying that we're thrilled for you all. You clearly were the best team in the American League, and now it's time to prove you're the best anywhere. An AL pennant is one thing, burying history is another. Sticking it to Cubs fans ... also quite something. Oh, there would be joy on the South Side. Bring 'er home, fellas. You can't be satisfied unless you do. I'll say that if our Sox don't win it, I believe we all feel we'd like yours to. AL fans are the best. I can't imagine the frustration of battling the Yankees every year.
  22. The Astros are my second favorite team, and it will be tough hitting against their starters. The very short left field line to the Crawford ST. boxes will be inviting to our righty power guys. Clemens should have been the run away Cy Young winner but he had a dozen starts where the team scored two runs or less, including being shut out 8 times in his starts. In those game he had a sub 2.00 ERA. I fear Houston more than the Cards, and am pulling for a seven game series to wear them down a bit more.
  23. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 08:36 AM) You know what else makes good sharkbait? Asshole fisherman beaten to a bloody bulp and thrown into shark infested waters. SS, where is the first place to go when you read a story like this? http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/sharkbait.asp
  24. After being hammered at the end of game 3 and happy faced for game 4, it was milk and cookies (literally) at the end of last nght's game.
  25. Ozzie wouldn't do that
