White Sox Acquire Edwin Jackson
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:06 PM) So say we acquire Myers for prospects, and it turns out that Myers is pitching in Game 4 of the ALDS against Tampa. Do you think you would find it incredibly hard to cheer for him then? And that goes to any members of the crew that would like to reply... If hes already on the Sox there aint much as a fan you can do. You cheer that the Sox win the game, because youre a fan of the team, but you wish he wasnt a part of it.

White Sox Acquire Edwin Jackson
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:05 PM) I don't see how you can be a fan of any professional, and a lot of collegiate, sports team then. Look at every team in baseball, I guarantee you find at least 1 scumbag on the 25 and a whole lot more in the minors. That doesnt mean you cant say you dont want those scumbags on your favorite team.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) Instead of Crede's Crew we could form some sort of anti-Myers crew. Who can think of a good name? Brett's Beaters

White Sox Acquire Edwin Jackson
QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:47 PM) Just like we couldn't add Peavy and Rios last season because of "payroll flexibility." LOL, tell me another funny one...... Lets see, we have a $100ish mill payroll, you devote 8% of that to a underperforming 4th starter and youre asking to be handcuffed.

White Sox Acquire Edwin Jackson
Someone explain to me how the Angels got Haren, who is just astronomically better than EJax, for the deal that they did while we got Jackson for our package. I know the Angels gave up more, but not really that much more and they got a muuuuuuuch better pitcher. We flat out overpaid. Will Hudson pan out? Who knows, but his value was higher than that.

White Sox Acquire Edwin Jackson
Jackson is a nice pitcher to have with Cooper, but cmon, Hudson for him? Now, if we flip EJax for a bat who is our pitcher? Im thinking were stuck with EJax, and we may see a minor move but our biggest trade chip was just sold for an overpriced 4/5 starter. I really think Hudson couldve been better than EJax this year, not to mention the money differential. This is what Im talking about being a smart spender. Atleast get cash back in the deal, it was lopsided enough.

Ethier gets pretty expensive next year, maybe the Dodgers feel that money is best used elsewhere. He makes: 2010 28 Los Angeles Dodgers $5,750,000 2011 29 Los Angeles Dodgers $9,250,000 -Baseball-reference

White Sox Acquire Edwin Jackson
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:30 AM) I think Ethier or Grienke. That or Choo would be ideal. I think the "shock" would be a Grienke deal, but could be applied to the other two as well.

White Sox Acquire Edwin Jackson
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:29 AM) Not saying I would be thrilled with it either, but I'm thinking something that makes them better would have to include a pitcher who can fill the 5th spot and not overly familiar with the Nats or D'backs rotation, and like I said, Livan has Ozzie and KW written all over him. Livan has said he wanted to retire as a National.

White Sox Acquire Edwin Jackson
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:25 AM) They just signed him to a big contract extension in the offseason, that aint gonna happen. Grienke may be traded if they want to sell high on him still as there is risk that he is starting to lose it again.

White Sox Acquire Edwin Jackson
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:23 AM) well they may, but this is a separate deal Cowley is talking about, basically it seems like Jackson/Hudson is in place but KW stalled it and is working on a major deal. Was just pointing out that their view of upgrade could be drasticall different from my view, and apparently alot of views here on ST.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:21 AM) You know what would be shocking? Acquiring a right handed piece of s*** ballplayer like Jose Guillen. Exactly, Im just scared to see what their interpretation of "shock" means, or what "improve" means. Yea, Guillen is better than Kotsay, but I dont want him or his salary as our "upgrade."

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:20 AM) Cowley - Here's what I've just been told - "If [KW] pulls this off, the Sox will be considerably better by tonight.'' f*** this s***, I want some names! Sox brass may consider Jackson a huge upgrade, but I dont. I really want to know who theyre going after.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
What a great performance by the offense last night, really took advantage of some crap pitchers. Kotsay is the biggest rally killer ever.

The Wave Sucks
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:23 AM) Yeah but what are you going to do? Be the one "get off my lawn" guy in the section and get into an argument with everyone? It's not worth it with a bunch of drunk fans surrounding you. Not saying that I will yell at people, jsut like I wont yell at people for getting up during a pitch and blocking my vision when they couldve waited the 3 minutes when the inning is over to go get another round of nachos. The Wave is just stupid in general, disruptive during important parts of the game, and should only really be fun for fans who are either under 8 yrs old, or the team is getting blown out by 10 runs. Otherwise, youre there to watch baseball.

The Wave Sucks
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:19 AM) Whenever everyone else stands up and you just sit there, people stare at you. Or it blocks your vision when there is a big play coming up (in this case it was Putz getting hit hard).

The Wave Sucks
Tonight's game was the first one Ive been to in about 5 years (lived out of state for 5 years, and had unexpected surgery a week before a game I had bought tickets for last summer) and I really enjoyed the game. Overall the game was well played, lots of homeruns (Castro! Paulie and TCQ back to back). But when Putz came in the 7th to pitch he was getting in a jam, and the crowd started doing the Wave. I wanted to b**** slap each and every one of those fans, we were only up by 3 or 4 and Putz was putting guys on base and letting in a few runs and everybody is just concerned about when the Wave was coming back to them. Only one person mentioned Putz's streak. I blame the wave for Putz's mini breakdown tonight.

Bobby Jenks
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 02:20 PM) Threets has thrown 7 innings since the game vs the Athletics where he threw the ball away and Coco Crisp scored from first? He did say appearances, still dont know if that is true though.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 12:59 PM) Putz is flat out ridiculous. And he knows it, he just has that "I WILL beat you" look on his face at all times That splitfinger is just plain nasty.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 12:51 PM) Great post. A 99 MPH fastball and a breaking pitch can be hard to beat If he can do that consistently throughout the rest of the year, it will be absolutely amazing for the Sox. Buerhle struggled through 5 last night, then the bullpen comes in and throws 4 stellar innings, just a joy to watch, especially Putz.
