  1. I want to see BA everyday until the break. If he still isnt producing, platoon him with Sweeney or whoever.. but dont trade him. I agree with Balta that right now he wouldnt be worth dick anyway, so they might as well just suffer through the growing pains unless they really feel that they have a better option. I just hope to god that they dont feel their better option is Mack.
  2. Any chance the sox would want to pickup someone like Ronnie Belliard and try him out at SS just in case Juan doesnt play?
  3. Cordero is a 1 trick pony, and really not a very good one. He'd get annihilated in the AL. Keep him far away.
  4. He has a natural talent for pretending he's Sammy Sosa. I want to see Uribe as the SS, but only if he beats out Cintron for the job in spring training. I'm not convinced Juan will show up in shape, focused and ready to hustle his ass off, which I dont really worry about with Cintron.
  5. In most cases when you have a guy who can deliver when it matters and give you an average defense I would say if we could get him to strengthen the bench, great. But not with Bernie Williams, career NY Yankee. Bernie's a clutch player on his last legs, and will never play for anyone but NY. Even if he did play somewhere else, I cant see his heart being into it and I doubt he'd last 2 weeks with another team before hanging it up. 4-5 years ago, yeah he could have made the transition and been a very serviceable Sox OF or great bench guy. He is valueable to NY and he might play one more year for them. He WAS supposed to be a bench player last year but wound up with a ton of playing time because of injuries to Sheffield, Melky & Matsui.
  6. Of course Thorton would want to start. So would any reliever who thinks they could cash in on the dumdum market if they threw just mediocre enough to get 10 million a year by starting. He's not coming out of the pen anytime soon. Christ we had to trade Freddy just to make room for Bmac, aint no way in hell Kenny is moving another starter to make room for a project in 2007. This team's goal is to win the world series and so far they've set themselves up to be pretty good on paper. This isnt the time to rebuild and mess around. Just as easily as the Sox got Thorton right, it could all go to hell if he was put out there as a starter and got bombed out a few times.
  7. Okay, I'll play devils advocate and say yes. Jones would be a monster upgrade in the lineup over Anderson or anyone else we stick out there in CF. He's a 40/120 guy with good defense who can make a difference in 162 games as opposed to 30. Buehrle struggled a lot this past season.. hell his favorite pitch was that smooth sailing changeup that got smashed 400 feet regularly. Not so sure I want to see another year of that. I have enough faith that the rest of our starters and a callup or two would be adequate enough to make the impact of losing Buehrle minimal. Plus while I dont think the Sox would have much chance to sign Jones after 07, it's pretty much a lock Mark is headed to St. Louis. All that being said, no way in hell this deal would ever happen.
  8. I like this kid a lot. Knuckleballz ftw!
  9. Id take A-rod in a heartbeat if we could get him. Buehrle & Crede might be gone in a year and if it took something like that to get him for 4 years, KW would be foolish to not take that deal. All that being said it's probably a snowballs chance in hell A-rod gets traded anywhere, especially to the sox. Afterall it takes a "no" from him to put the brakes on anything.
  10. Theo (Red Sox) - "Hey Big Spender" by Shirley Bassey Sabien (Giants) - "I wanna grow old with you" by Adam Sandler Bowden (Nationals) - "One Burbon, One Scotch, One Beer" by George Thorogood
  11. If we could get Rowand for next to nothing, great. Otherwise.. why? Is his defensive shortcomings and megar bat really that much more impressive than a guy, who if he can manage to play 5 or 6 games in a row w/o getting yanked next year has already shown he has more talent and ability than Arow will ever have? I mean give Anderson a break. Rowand is not just a step down, hes potentially a BIG step down if and when Brian can put some consistency in his swing.
  12. I pity the fool that puts Robbie Mack in center over me. Seriously though, thank goodness and while I agree its about 5 months late for this jolt of common sense to strike, better now than the middle or end of next season.
