Carlos Rodon Apology Thread
And Kopech also looks a lot smoother, much more in rhythm in terms of repeatability and in control...if only we can fix Bummer and Crochet next, we’d be all set.

Carlos Rodon Apology Thread
https://www.yahoo.com/sports/carlos-rodon-white-sox-cleveland-no-hitter-mlb-024941925.html Looks like is really credit the change in mechanics (getting a lot more drive forward with the legs) as the reason for his success and growth in confidence in terms of putting less stress on the shoulder and elbow...a muscling up or arm pitcher rather than incorporating the full body swinging forward.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER CARLOS RODON NO HITTER EDITION!!!!!
Did they ever get a camera angle from straight above on that inside slider to Chang? It didn’t even clip the plate coming across from 10 to 4?

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER CARLOS RODON NO HITTER EDITION!!!!!
He actually slid past first with his right arm and reached back or to the side with his left arm...should have been safe with a better slide although maybe he was naturally shying away from a collision with Abreu and/or being spiked.

And 2020 if it was a combined no-hitter.

https://www.mlb.com/video/every-out-from-rodon-s-no-no?t=key-moments Every out in the game, 6 minute video. Abreu, Garcia (two balls that were pretty difficult, Abreu handled the throw on one), Moncada (another errant throw handled) were probably the four toughest outs. Another to Robert was made to look easy, and then a rocket but hit right at Vaughn. Almost every ball to Andrew he barely had to move, but he caught them.

Sox resign Rodon 1 yr /3m official, Vargas DFA
I think they would be better off giving that money to Rodon instead of Lynn ($15-20+ million per season), but you know JR won't like either eventuality, and will refer back to Danks, haha. That said, if I was the White Sox, I would go out there as early as feasible in July/August and announce extensions with both Lynn and Rodon. That will take a lot of the sting out of losing Giolito, and there definitely is more risk attendant to a starter (in Lucas) with a heavy workload the last 3-4 years who had his first TJ surgery so early in his career...right out of high school/Harvard Westlake. I just can't imagine them giving Lucas anything approaching $25 million per season, which is closer to his open market value, if not even a little low with the dearth of TOR starters on the market in coming years. Rodon has made about $14.5 million in his career, btw, including his signing bonus. Still represented by Scott Boras Corp.

Sox resign Rodon 1 yr /3m official, Vargas DFA
Let's say Carlos stays healthy at least through the All-Star break. How much money and how many years would you be willing to give him...assuming he can keep that 95-99+ fastball and maintain his slider? 3 years? $50-55ish million? Or bigger guaranteed or upfront money, maybe he wants a signing bonus and is willing to defer the back half of the deal into some future undetermined years?

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER CARLOS RODON NO HITTER EDITION!!!!!
We'll see. Cease definitely has the stuff, but the results have to match. He was a Top 5 Cy Young vote getter last year, and pitched well last time out until running out of gas, but they totally messed up his routine with Rodon out. And then you have Kopech and possibly Crochet, although I think Garrett ends up ultimately staying in the bullpen. The only thing that would be MORE shocking would be a Reynaldo Lopez no-hitter.

He referred to a play Garcia made at SS as well...I was only able to start watching Top of the 9th, the Abreu toe tap will be one of the images that defines this one, as well as the Jose Ramirez line-out. And, of course, the HBP.

You can definitely see his Southern/Cuban sense of humor...referring to even dogs in Kentucky knowing he was going to throw a 3-1 fastball to Jose Ramirez, classic quote. And that it was hit 170 MPH. Yermin Mercedes again living each day in MLB like its his absolute last. That energy is really rubbing off in what could have been a disastrous malaise setting in after the first 11 and so many heartbreaking losses going the other way based on so many odd/random things happening.
